Have Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney made this Fantasy football lark look easy? Get the pair in, alternate the armband and watch the points flow. Simples.

Even if it really is that straightforward, there’s still a role for “the third man”, the striker that slots alongside the two titans. In this week’s ScoutCast, we rinse this once through, throw some names around and argue a few theories of our own.

Chuck in the usual bandwagon review in “All Aboard”, the Gameweek preview and Mark’s latest gentle Fantasy Premier League reform idea and you have another episode packed and ready to go.

That's ridiculous. Having a player in that form with those fixtures can only decrease your rank.

Do you think anyone who's anywhere near the top went without Van Persie during his run? I predict that sort of run for Rooney. Thousands above you won't have him, they're the people you'll catch up with. As you say though, we'll see I guess.

Pog captain might be a good differential judging by his last home performance, don't think Swansea will be as generous as Wolves though!

Ok, so at one point he was 4.6 and you lost 0.4 on him, right? So your selling value was 4.6. Now that he's risen 0.4 you get half the profit so your selling value should be 4.8? Or am I missing something here?

With Silva dropping in form and becoming less of a fantasy must have here are some to consider.....

Chelsea- Frank Lampard remains Chelsea's highest scoring midfielder with 1 point more than fellow Chelsea playmaker Juan Mata. Lampard has played only 1785 minutes compared to Mata's 2024 and in those 1785 minutes Lampard has notched up 10 goals and 5 assists, meanwhile Mata has the opposite with 5 goals and 10 assists. Lampard has also hit double figures 5 times, with Mata only managing three. Lampard has mainly racked up the points against lower oppostition including a hat-trick and and all three bonus points at the Reebok in which he contributed 20 points. But Lampard's position in Roberto Di Matteo's side is unclear, despite playing the full 90 minutes in the past four BPL games where as Juan Mata has featured in every Chelsea game so far this season, most recently as a first half substitute in the 1-0 win against Stoke at Stamford Bridge.

Man United- With Antonio Valencia set to come back into the frame there is some uncertaincy over the two wing spots in the United Midfield. The first candidate is Nani, who has had a stop start season but has still been delivering the good for United. He has been on the scoresheet 6 times and picked up 10 assist along the way to 133 FPL points in 1867 minutes of Premier League football. The second alternative is Englishman Ashley Young. The former Villa man made a great start to the season with 33 points in the first 3 games, mainly down to a big 23 point haul in the 8-2 hammering of Arsenal at Old Trafford. but since then his season has has been hit with injuries but he did catch the eye with a brace in the 3-1 win at White Hart Lane. The cheaper alternative is Ecuadorian Antonio Valencia who has been more consistant than the two, only failing to score more than two points, most of those as a sub or at right-back. He did have an excellent run between GW15 and GW25 in which he delivered 2 goals and 10 assist.
    ----------Minutes Played-------PPG(90 mins)
    Nani----------1867------------------6.7pts------
    Young--------1119------------------6.8pts------
    Valencia-----1303------------------5.9pts------

Excellent player rotation strategy this season. It has really served you well.

    1. FA CUP - OUT 3rd Round Proper
    2. CL - OUT did not make it out of Group Stage

If people had to bench one from the following - Richards, Kelly, Enrique, Evans, Simpson - who should be the fall guy?

Or play all five and bench both McClean and Valencia (who probably won't start)?

I know I am going to get this one wrong. Always play 3-4-3 through choice but tempted by a 5-2-3 for this week only.

Valencia is a bit of a gamble.. Though game for city, Pool should be able to keep a clean sheet as well as newcastle, a bit unsure on kelly and fulham. Evans should keep a clean sheet. If you should drop someone i would drop richards or kelly.

I would play mcClean. Not sure about valencia, i would wait untill saturday for that one

Vidic is such a huge player in our defense. He covers for all the mistakes in the back four.

Like many on here I am now contemplating selling Silva. I was firmly in the camp that Silva is a season's keeper when I played my WC. Now i am not sure. None of the replacements are jumping out at me. Young would be a bit knee jerky. Mata - not worth his tag. Nani - who knows. Walcott - too unpredictable, either dogshite or brilliant.

Thinking of keeping silva and waiting for news on Valencia. Yaya---> Valencia is there for the taking.

Surman is ok if you can bench him. Gerrard is a good shout with set-pieces and goal threat. Don't know if you have him but personally I would go for Walcott at that price range, especially if it didn't require a points hit. Thanks for your reply above.

Since city and united are out of the Europa does this mean:

    1) Richards' place is safer, or more insecure?
    2) Valencia will be nailed on?
    3) Less, less rotation for city?

Might see more league rotation with City given Silva is apparently burnt out and he needs to keep all his players happy with less games to play them. Complete opposite of what he should do given that he should always play his strongest team and rotation has cost him so far.

I think Richards is injury-prone and misses the majority of his games because of niggles.

Annoyed Valencia didn't get a game today, will have to see what SAF says before the game.

      1) No change.
      2) Rotation between the 3.
      3) Likes of Silva and Aguero will be more nailed on, Richards Clichy etc will still rotate.

I don't think he's burnt out. I think the whole team has hit a wall in terms of communication, morale and form. Not just Silva; I guess since he's such a key player people would notice the decline in his performance more than others. I'm gonna keep him and wait til they come good again

Mata has two assists away from home all season, and is at City this week. Do I:

    A) Bench him for Simpson
    B) Sell him and play Walcott
    C) Man up and play him (also playing Richards)

Walcott is in even less teams than Mata so he could turn out to be a better differential. I've had enough, he came on in their last home game and I'm not sure whether he'll now start playing behind Drogba or be rested with other competitions in mind...

    Schwarzer Mignolet
Enrique Evans Gibbs 2 of Simpson/Caulker/McAuley
