Roy Hodgson looks set to rotate his squad for the remainder of the season. Alan Pardew is confident of a return for Cheick Tiote this weekend, though is less certain on Ryan Taylor. Martin O’Neill has a few injury concerns ahead of this evening’s trip to Blackburn, while Roberto Mancini is set to give Carlos Tevez a bench role at the Etihad against Chelsea tomorrow night.

Roy Hodgson offered an insight into his selection strategy for the remainder of the season – a policy that won’t be welcomed by us Fantasy managers. Having navigated his side away from the trapdoor of relegation, Hodgson has expressed his intent to utilise his squad from this point on…

We’re looking upwards and I’m looking to use the whole of the squad…People can expect a few changes in the coming nine games rather than me just playing the same 11 each week because, as we saw, people like Scharner, who came in for Andrews, and people like Long, who came in for Fortune, are available.

This will likely see heavy rotation, with the midfield and attack looking particularly cloudy. The likes of Jerome Thomas, Chris Brunt and perhaps recent Fantasy favourite James Morrison could all be prone to rotation, while Shane Long, Peter Odemwingie and Marc-Antoine Fortune are all set to compete for the forward roles – with the possibility that Hodgson will continue with a lone striker strategy.

The back four could also rotate at the full-back positions, although both Gareth McAuley and Jonas Olsson look likely everpresents and are set to have their partnership restored for the visit of Newcastle this weekend.

Newcastle’s top four ambitions are set to be boosted by the return of Cheick Tiote for the visit to the Hawthorns. Alan Pardew seems confident that the combative midfielder will be in contention, having missed the narrow win over Norwich at the weekend. James Perch was drafted into central midfield for the Canaries match on Sunday in Tiote’s absence, with Yohan Cabaye moving out wide to cover the flank as a result of Jonas Gutierrez’s shift to left-back.

The Magpies boss is less confident on Ryan Taylor’s chances – the top owned FPL defender has missed Newcastle’s last two matches due to a calf injury. Pardew is hopeful of a return for Taylor against Liverpool on April 1.

Taylor’s return will be interesting, given that Pardew has shuffled his resources of late. The decision to hand Gutierrez the left-back berth against Norwich was a major surprise, as Davide Santon dropped to the bench. Taylor could well see a return to left-back then, with Hatem Ben Arfa perhaps cementing regular starts on the right-flank, competing with Gabriel Obertan. Santon’s potential as a Fantasy asset currently looks far from guaranteed.

North-East rivals Sunderland are reportedly set to go into tonight’s trip to Ewood Park with doubts surrounding the fitness of both Phil Bardsley and Seb Larsson; Kieran Richardson is also thought to be a major doubt with some reports suggesting he is ruled out.

Bardsley’s rib injury, sustained in the cup tie at Goodison on Saturday, is set to hand a debut to Sotirios Kyrgiakos, with John O’Shea likely to shift to right-back. Larssson’s possible absence could open the way for a return for David Vaughan, who came off the bench in the 1-1 with Everton. Stephane Sessegnon will serve the last of his three-match ban in tonight’s game, while Lee Cattermole will complete his suspension in the home clash with QPR at the weekend.

Blackburn will go into tonight’s game with just Vince Grella on the sidelines. Steve Kean has been boosted by the return to fitness of both Bradley Orr and David Dunn and the duo could be line to start against the Black Cats.

Carlos Tevez is set to make the bench for City’s Etihad clash with Chelsea tomorrow evening. Reports today state that striker has impressed in training with Roberto Mancini ready to turn to the Argentine to help revive the title challenge. Joleon Lescott is reportedly poised to return to to bolster the City backline – the centre-half is hopeful of a return to full training today, after being sidelined with a groin problem for a fortnight. Both Gareth Barry and Pablo Zabaleta are expected to be available, as the injuries ease ease for Mancini. Unfortunately for the City boss, Vincent Kompany is set to miss out tomorow. The Belgian has undergone intensive treatment on a calf injury but has failed to recover in time, with question marks also raised against the likelihood of his availability for the weekend game against Stoke. If Lescott makes it for tomorrow, Mancini will be set to choose between Stefan Savic and Kolo Toure in the heart of the City defence, with a newly confident Fernando Torres possibly lining up in opposition.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Rather than rate my team, rate my rivals team.

    Al Habsi, Ruddy

BAE, Raylor, Koscielny, P Jones, Shawx

    Silva, Bale, Dempsey, Sinclair, Sess

    RVP, Ba, Graham

He's got a 138 point lead and is ranked 4,982 overall (wildcard played), but think he's definitely catchable now.

    My team is

    Krul, Bogdan

    G Johnson, M Richards, J Evans, Santon, S Kelly

    Bale, Mata, Valencia, Siggy, Miyachi

    RVP, Rooney, Pog

Hopefully I can keep my form up as that has been my strength this season in picking captains (pity I couldn't pick a decent team) as generally have got it right (Haven't captained RVP a lot of times, and rarely been stung outside the Chelsea away which was before everyone else was captaining all the time).

Checked the other week and got a pretty high rate for picking the right captain, although when your team isn't doing great it makes that choice a lot easier!

Think you have a chance but I'd lose GJ and Richards to Skrtel and Komps/Verm and maybe Santon to Kaboul?

      I like this concept.

      Here is my rival's team

      Vorm, Al Habsi

      Raylor, Evans, Enrique, Naylor, BAE

Dyer, Yaya, Bale, Dempsey (who i think he will sell for Valencia) Henderson

      Roony, RvP, Yak

GJ would go, but just think when he's fit he should start.

Means that Richards and Santon have to be priorities.

Richards due to expense should next week be Komps/Verm/Sagna.

Santon to Kaboul is doable, but means I can't afford Pog to Adebayor.

By the time those 2 GW's have gone if GJ isn't in the team, then he's off, but he sounds like he could be ready for weekend. Any confirmation he's out longer he goes before Micah.

        His midfield is week there.

Yaya and Dyer may score here and there but won't be consistent. Dempsey if he stays doesn't score away from home.

        Henderson doesn't score.

If Raylor gets back on the right wing, that could be a concern as could play a 5-2-3 and have a pretty good team. Assuming he won't do that though?

Got another team that have been priced wrong. It is a game in the ACL Cup, between Al Ittihad and Al Qadisiya. I can't believe they are giving 8/13 for Al Qadisiya they should 1/6 for this in my opinion. Al Ittihad is one of the best Syrian teams but the gap between Syria and Kuwait is pretty big when you consider the amount of money being pumped into football in Kuwait.

Also if anyone is checking this bet and they find a -1 market with their bookie would you let me know where as I would definitely be interested in that.

The Champions League that u mentioned stems from this with the better teams involved in the Champions League and the Presidents Cup is like their Europa League. Some really good football played in the Champions League.

Point of Richards though is that he's in a team that it would never surprise you if they kept a clean sheet so the odd assist was a massive bonus.
However Sagna's assists have RVP finishing them which is a great bonus, just look at Theo's assists this year.

Looking at the fixtures GW31-End (which is when I'm looking at the same move) Arsenal have two dodgy fixtures, Spurs have 0 and a possible blank/double, Liverpool have 0 but a better defensive record than either N. London teams. United just have the derby and city have Arsenal and the derby.

    Two questions:

What's the consensus on GW34 - are people planning on shipping out players to avoid fielding half a team, or just planning on riding it out? Newc Liv Tott & Ful all have decent fixtures in and around it..

Anyone thought about a sideways move from Ba to Cisse? Seems like Ba is playing a lot deeper with Cisse in the side

I am travelling to Barcelona this Easter and just noticed that Barcelona plays AC Milan on the 3rd of April, so naturally I want to go. What are the best and safest ways(webpages) to order CL-tickets? I've found this webpage, viagogo.com, but after googling the page for a while, it seems they are not totally trustworthy.. Any ideas?

Mainly due to the FA Cup weekend, which cause a fuxture to be cancelled on a certain weekend, therefore it will be played on a weekday, causing a Double GameWeek.

Some games have been postponed because of FA Cup matches. Look at the 'next six ticker (on the right-hand column >>>>>>) to see which matches are off.

The games could be (*tries to think of easier word than rescheduled, fails*) rescheduled in the same week, or in a different week giving us more double gameweeks.

Have you tried ordering them direct from Barcelona? If they're sold out, something like viagogo is safer than buying from eBay, but not 100% safe.

Someone on here (Back to Back Ballacks maybe?) bought Real Madrid tickets recently, keep an eye out for him!

Does this make viagogo even more unreliable to trust considering that the tickets shouldn't really be available?

To be honest half the guys in the mini league haven't got a clue. I played last year and realised that in the back half of the season it is a real advantage to have a high value team as can have a lot stronger squad than most of them.

Mine has only recently gone over 110, yet I'm inside the top 400 overall (as things stand in this GW).

As mentioned, a good value often sacrifices points along the way and the bargains you could pick up ths season has made money less important than most imagined at the start of the season.

I think for those who soley concentrate on team value then yes you sacrife points. Where i have protected mine is getting rid of players at the right time like Valencia recently where i sold him for £8.1m when he was injured and bought him back for £7.5m. Also picking the right time to get on players and not miss band wagons (eg Vorm, Bale and RVP) and then not being afraid to cash in on them when the time is right (Sessignon, Vorm, Jones, Enrique, Silva).

afternoon all, this is some delving deeper into danny welbeck. there have been constant concerns all season about hernandez and how much he threatens his place in the side.
this is a list of every league game this season for man utd with welbeck's situation for each:

    1) WBA a - started.
    2) Tottenham H - started.
    3) Arsenal H - started, went off injured.
    4) Bolton a - not in the squad.
    5) Chelsea H - not in the squad.
    6) Stoke a - back in the squad, came on for the last 20mins. Hernandez got injured after 10mins and Owen replaced him, suggesting Welbeck wasn't fit enough to play any longer than he did.
    7) Norwich H - bench again, came on for Hernandez at 0-0 with 30mins left, scored as they won 2-0.
    8) Liverpool a - started
    9) Man City H - started
    10) Everton a - started
    11) Sunderland H - started, went off injured near the end.
    12) Swansea a - not in squad.
    13) Newcastle H - not in squad.
    14) Villa a - back in squad, played the last 15 mins. Hernandez got injured after 10mins and Valencia replaced him, suggesting Welbeck wasn't fit enough to play any longer (spooky symmetry).
    15) Wolves H - started.
    16) QPR a - started.
    17) Fulham a - started.
    18) Wigan H - unused sub. xmas rotation? they tanked wigan 5-0 without him.
    19) Blackburn H - started
    20) Newcastle a - benched in favour of Berbatov who had scored 5 times in the previous 2 games, whilst welbeck hadn't notched in the shock home defeat to blackburn. Ended up replacing Berbatov after 57mins with utd 2-0 down.
    21) Bolton H - started.
    22) Arsenal a - started.
    23) Stoke H - unused sub. game was sandwiched between liverpool in the fa cup 3 days before and chelsea in the league 5 days after, both of which welbeck started. again they won comfortably in the end without him, berbatov and hernadez the strike force on the day.
    24) Chelsea H - started.
    25) Liverpool H - started.
    26) Norwich a - started.
    27) Tottenham a -started.
    28) West Brom H - started.
    29) Wolves a - started.

There are two reasons not to pick Welbeck imo. firstly the same with every single striker, if you simply don't think he'll score enough points for his price. secondly if you want 3 other man utd players, most likely on current evidence the evans, valencia and rooney trio. if however your reason is due to the threat of hernandez i really wouldn't worry, welbeck has been first choice since day 1. the threat has been there all season and never materialised, i can't see anything changing now unless welbeck has a poor run of games, in which case you would want to sell him anyway.
6.5 man utd striker. i can think of good reasons not to get him (for example the 2 above) but i don't think the threat of hernandez holds enough weight. the biggest threat has been rotation over hectic schedules, thanks to being out all the cups it's just weekends all the way for man utd now.

i looked at that too and most of those were when young was injured early season, valencia was unfancied early season, or recently when nani was injured and they had the 2 bilbao games cramming up the schedule and resulting (imo) in young getting a rest this weekend.
basically with valencia young and nani fit, and no cup games i can't see it. similar to how i can't see valencia ever being rb with jones, smalling and refael fit

United rotation threats from here on:

          Smalling/Rafael/Jones
          Nani/Young
          Hernandez
          Scholes/Giggs
          Lindegaard (when fit)

I can see this team playing every week with the above slotting in:

          De Gea
          RB Evans Ferdinand Evra
          Valencia CM Carrick LW
          Rooney Welbeck

I'd say Rio's a slight rotation threat, just due to his injury record and need for rest now and then with his back problem.

      8 ) fail 😆

I think he's a good pick, but after him getting one solitary assist and no goals for me in 6 games I'm happy to see the back of him and would much rather have Valencia alongside the must-haves Rooney and Evans.

      Good post though!

Solid analysis that certainly has me seeing Welbeck in a new light.

My immediate reaction (maybe I do the post injustice here) is that Welbeck is a perfect 8th for lower budget teams, who either can't decide on one of the 3 wingers, or cannot afford Rooney.

yeah pretty much my thinking too. he's never going to score like rooney but that's why he's almost half his price. i fancy him to have a run like sturridge early to mid season with 5s, 6s, 7s etc

    Mig
    Evans Lescott Skirtel

As long as you have at least 1 keeper, 3 defs, 2 mids and 1 striker you can play whatever formation you like.

If your name is Paul, it's either a team link pass or a pretty big coincidence.

    Repost.... Didn't get any replies

Should I do James Morrison > Keith Andrews this week due to todays scribbles?

Have to get rid of Morrison sometime, for a cheaper mid cause I want to get in Bale for Dempsey for GW 31/32.

Dempsey costs more than Bale though so you could do that any time?

I'd steer clear of WBA if Hodgson's going freestyle in selection.

        +1
WBA players aren't good enough to risk rotation.

I f*cking love Cheryl Cole, her voice is so cute. She is just perfect. Ok, away from daydreaming, I can't wait till tomorrow's game between City & Chelsea. City 3-1.
