With over 1,400 entries received, Gameweek 29 has whittled down the first round participants of the Paddy Power Cup VI to just 512. A qualifying score of 56 was required to guarantee a first round berth alongside our five former champions. For those scoring 55 you need to click here for the full results, and nervously scroll down towards the 500 mark.

On with the draw then, and the full set of 256 fixtures can be viewed right here.

The former cup winners are always the ones to watch – especially the defending champion – and it’s Tommyboy that is charged with the giant-killing of Paddy Power Cup V winner sleepingmaster.

Before sleepingmaster it was Ninja_Fit_Saints who wore the crown, and he’s involved in what is arguably the tie of the round against Marvellus.

Our inaugural winner, donnellyc, is now making his fifth attempt at regaining his title. His first hurdle this time round is jon13597493.

Now on the books with the Scout, Paddy Power Cup II winner Jonty closed the 2009/10 season on the ultimate high. He’s once again looking to reach those heights, and it’s Mull standing in his way.

Perhaps the biggest name of them all though is Gooner dave. Not only did he win the third edition of this competition, but he threatened to lift the Members version several weeks later. Looking to stop the juggernaut immediately in his tracks is ralphypne.

All ties are to be played across Gameweek 30. Good luck to all 512 fantasy managers competing in round one, and commiserations to those missing the cut on this occasion.

    Considering some options,

    a) Play BAE

    b) Santon -> Vermaelen (4pt hit) benching BAE

Votes please, not too fond of hits so i'm leaning towards a) at the minute

if i were you i would probably go with a) mate... however, i am prone to hits so if it were me i would probably go ahead with b) 🙂 if that makes sense...

haha i know what you mean. If I did do Santon -> Vermaelen I would have way too much invested in defence so would have to lose Vermaelen/Skrtel in the next couple of weeks.

Don't see any more than 2 pts for BAE though. Vermaelen looks good for a clean sheet and also possesses a serious threat against a Villa team poor at defending set plays..

I'd go for a). Vermaelen would probably need a goal + clean sheet to make it worthwhile. It's possible - but unlikely he'll score in 3 consecutive matches.

Pog. I wouldn't play Dempsey for away games, and at 9mil or so, he's too expensive to be sitting on the bench every other week. At least you can warrant rotating Pog because of his price.

tough call, but dempsey has shown that he is a consistent quality player and only time will tell if pogrebnyak is... then again pog sofar is really good value for money... i guess it all depends on who you want to transfer in for third striker/fifth mid...

Pog - on the grounds that Fulham's fixtures are mixed, and they are poor on the road, so rotation is the way ahead. Dempsey's too expensive to leave on the bench.

Definately looks dodgy at moment, Gutierrez could play there again this week and when Raylor is fit again he could slot back in at left back. I had him but sold him a week or 2 back. You never know though, he might get a recall.

Tough decision for a hit. Verm got to get a clean sheet just to break even and thats assuming BAE definately doesn't. If Verm does rack up the points again it could be well worthwhile though. I considered getting him for a hit when I heard Kompany was out but decided against it as I have Caulker to come in. Trickier for you though with the options you have. Not sure what to advise you for the best.

My team atm 1 FT left:

    Mignolet (Schwarzer)

    Evans, Enrique, Skrtel (McAuley, Simpson)

    Morrison, Surman, Valencia, Sigurdsson (Dempsey)

    RVP, Rooney, Suarez

    3.4 in bank

I think the team looks OK for this week. Obviously looking to upgrade midfield but nothing springs to mind this week, I cannot get Walcott without sacrificing Dempsey. Is it fair to keep the transfer? And should I play McAuley ahead of Surman/Morrison?
