It’s gorgeous out, but fantasy football fiends up and down the country are retreating indoors to see West Brom take on Newcastle. The Dugout Discussion reluctantly opens it’s doors on this fine Sunday afternoon.

The team news from our only game today is in. Here is how both sides line-up…

West Brom XI: Foster; Jones, McAuley, Olsson, Ridgewell; Odemwingie, Mulumbu, Morrison, Andrews, Thomas; Fortune.

Newcastle XI:Krul; Simpson, Coloccini, Williamson, Perch; Ben Arfa, Guthrie, Cabaye, Gutierrez; Ba, Cisse.

Four changes to Roy Hodgson’s side sees Peter Odemwingie return to the fold, at the expense of Chris Brunt (who has suffered from tonsillitis this week). Also coming in is Jonas Olsson, Keith Andrews and Marc-Antoine Fortune replacing Nicky Shorey, Paul Scharner and Shane Long.

As for the visitors, Alan Pardew names an unchanged line-up from the side that beat Norwich last time out.

    I pitched Baines as an idea last week and was told roundly it was a bad idea - now everybody seems to be trying to get him in. It reeks of bandwagoning and points chasing - and I'm all aboard.

      The sole purpose of FF is chasing points. Baines and Verm are great options though.

    Another big match for Lukas Podolski - and another disappearing act. His club 1.FC Cologne have just been hammered 6-1 at home by Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga, and Podolski's merely contributed a yellow card for kicking the ball away.

          Not goals scored? Your decision obviously, I'd guess done to reward earlier season performance, but when a knockout tournament is in progress, isn't it about what is done on the field that matters more?

          Similar can be said for when Agger returns to the Liverpool defence. However, if Baines goes on a run he can rack up the points quite quickly. Must say I'm tempted to swap Cashley for him.

        Have patience with your players. Baines' price is extortionate for the returns you get and Everton won't keep that many clean sheets to warrant keeping him. Verm is a good pick and Evans is the best value player. I'd still rather have Liverpool or Tottenham defender over Baines.

          Baines price is nasty looking but they continue to show how resiliant they are not conceding many so the CS potential is definitely there. Add to that his clear attacking potential from corners, free-kicks, pens and crosses from the left and he is potentially a great signing. He plays like a midfielder alot and has the CS in addition which the midfielders can't get.

        Ba was great today, I expect loads of people to get rid of him but I'd only do Ba -> Cisse if it was free (like for you). He'll still be on penalties and is a better player than Cisse. Although Cisse will now be nailed on for away games.

        Obviously wait for more news on the injury though. Only B is any good, A) is a crazy transfer.

            Don't let that put you off. Certainly don't let it make you switch him for Crouch! Crouch has one double figure GW and Newcastle ripped West Brom apart today. They looked really good. Torres is right in that he played a little deeper (we saw it last week as well) and Cisse would be a better shout than Ba (he may become my third striker) but I'd certainly take Ba over Jelavic or Crouch.

                It's up to you obviously, I just think you'd have more success with a Newcastle forward imo. Nobody knows what Moyes will do (has a thing against strikers) or what Crouch is going to produce.

      Any Newcaslte fans about. I believe Barfa was awesome today. Just wondering if you think he's done enough to cement a starting role when Raylor gets back? Was waiting for someone to pop their head above the parapet to replace Clint. he also obviously rotates perfectly with McClean.

        Sorry to be of no use, but BA is tempting me too. 4 goals and 5 assists in 882 minutes is a great return (we all know how good he is) and I can't see him being dropped to the bench given his motm performance today.

        In my opinion he will start, and at 5.4 he's a good alternative to Ba or Cisse.

              Can't see Pardew dropping him after that game. He's not in Drenthe's league, in that he has given Pardew no reason to bench him. The fans would go bananas to see their play-maker sit out the next game.

                still think he's a better bet away. Clint is good for 1 more week I think, so I can judge Barfa then and look at a 4 pointer for him and Hernandez.

                He would also allow me to get Verm in for Santon this week, I think Verm and Walcott and Barfa will majorly outscore Clint and Santon (who barely plays) and Hernandez should be a great differential until the end of the season, and i will have 1 of Siggy, McClean or Barfa to sub in for him.

            Pardew won't drop him. Taylor in midfield is nowhere near as effective as Ben Arfa.

        any transfer for a hit that involves getting in Jelavic is definitely not worth it. Stop chasing points by just swapping one striker that scored one week to another that scored the next. Get a striker that you think will score well and stick with him unless he fails to perform over several weeks.

      I'm beating my cup opponent by 8 points, but he has Dempsey and Rooney (c). I just have Rooney. If Demps gets the hoped for 2 pts, I'm winning by 6. If Rooney gets anything more than an assist, I'm screwed. 🙁
