Even before this gameweek, the card count at QPR left a lot to be desired. Under both Neil Warnock and Mark Hughes, the R’s saw themselves top the table for red cards received, with five dismissals previously racked up. So when another sending off occurred this week – making it six in thirty games (though incidentally their first away from home) – it wrote another line in the chequered disciplinary record of the Loftus Road team.

The red card this week went to the one man entertainment show that is Djibril Cissé. Having arrived at the club at the end of January, Cissé promptly scored on his debut the following day, but a straight red in the next game against Wolves saw him sit out the following three. Back from suspension and immediately amongst the goals, his two strikes in two saw some renewed Fantasy investment, but a two-footed lunge on Sunderland’s Frazier Campbell at the weekend and subsequent four-match ban (as a result of his second straight red) will see a five match record for the Frenchman of: Goal, Red, Goal, Goal, Red. By the time he has served his dues, he’ll have been available for selection for just five of the 12 matches since he signed.

Another to see red this gameweek and head into an enforced rest was Norwich captain Grant Holt. Thanks to two yellow cards (the first, missed by some media outlets, for dissent) Holt was given his marching orders after a late tackle on Wolves’ Michael Kightly and will now miss the trip to Craven cottage against Fulham.

Finally, in yellow card watch, Arsenal centre-back Laurent Koscielny was spared 90 minutes on the high wire against Aston Villa after picking up an injury in the warm-up, while Ryan Shawcross negotiated his game at home to Manchester City without troubling the referee’s pocket either; both go into the next weekend in the same situation, hoping to avoid another yellow before the April 8 deadline.

GAMEWEEK 31 BANS

  • Grant Holt (Nor) – 1 Red for 2 Yellows (1 match)
  • Djibril Cissé (QPR) – 1 Red for serious foul play (first of 4 matches)

I think 1 shot on target, 2 off target. His goal was a tap in and he was subbed off early. Rafael and Evans did the deserve the Baps more and i had Rooney captain.

It must take into account whether they scored inside the box or outside. That must surely have an effect. I agree it won't understand the concept of a 'tap in" though.

Oh right ok! My apologies! From a Computer Science point of view that wouldn't be a hard thing to implement. Someone would just have to record whether it was inside or outside the box.

Simpson > Vermaelen the obvious transfer for this team?

    Friedel
    Evans, Shotton, Senderos
    Valencia, Bale, Dempsey, Siggy
    RVP (C), Suarez, Rooney (vc)

    Subs: Vorm, Squirtle, Simpson, Pilkington

Would then play Verm ahead of Shotton or Senderos.

I'm a certified Karelian Hot Pot muncher ( http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2011/06/14/scout-report-phil-jones/comment-page-6/#comment-1697412 ) and I'm going to get rid of Grant Holt. I was going to sell him next week and get Danny Graham but now he (i.e. (or is it e.g.?) Holt) is suspended and I don't want to play Siggy next week and I'm going to either buy N'Gog or Fletcher this week and then sell him next week and buy Grahammy so who is it going to be that I buy, N'Goggsy or Fletchy?

Also, do I captain Özil or Ramos? UCL, that is. Özilssy? Ramossy?

Now that it's calmed down a bit... Can any bored people have a look at this and suggest my next move?

    Team for GW31:
    Krul(LIV)
    Kelly(NOR) Evans(bla) Skrtel(new)
    Dempsey(NOR) Bale (SWA) Valencia(bla) Siggy(tot)
    RVP(qpr) Rooney(bla) Suarez(new)

    Subs: Migs(mci), Surman(ful), Enrique(new) & Caulker(N/A)

    Bank: 1 FT and £2.9m

Context: 60 odd point lead in my ML.

    Options:
    A) Save freebie.

Same dilemma over here (I've got Ba rather than Suarez), I'm definitely not doing A! If you look at the stats for this season, it's pretty hard to justify Baines over Verm, but a couple of Everton penalties and things look very different.

Instictively, I'd rather make an attacking transfer than a defensive one, though. Mancini has said Tevez is a couple of weeks away from full fitness, so I'd stay clear of him for now

I don't think anyone, ever, in the history of FPL has thought at the end of the season 'Thank God I bought that Everton striker, really pushed me up the ranks'...

Dunno, I'm being swayed by the boost Baines gave me at the end of last season, even though that shouldn't affect my choice at all it probably will! Suspect I'll take a 4 point hit and change one of my Liv defs and Ba, but really undecided atm.

My plan was to get Ade in for Ba, but he's missed a few with injury so no form to go on.

kompany's back. surely makes him as good an option as verm/baines.. will get more clean sheets than both combined even if he barely gets attackin points

I don't see City getting more CS than Arsenal and Everton combined between now and the end of the season.

:).. maybe i exaggerated a bit :).. surely with City pushin for the title a couple of their players will prove good differentials though.. kompany seems the safest bet

Yeah he will be a great option to have at the back. City will put everything into trying to win the title so they won't be giving much away when Vincent Vega returns.

Current team for GW31, after my free transfer:

    Krul (Vorm)
Vermaelen - Lescott - Evans (Enrique - Caulker)
Bale - Dempsey - Valencia - Sigurdsson (McClean)
    RVP - Rooney - PCisse

Lescott -> BAE or Enrique -> Cahill for a 4pt hit? Or stay as I am?

Not worth the hit for a defender. I think you are fine the way you are, just hope Lescott is back in.

How do you see the APOEL v Madrid game going tonight? Would you liken it to a Madrid away game to somewhere like Levante where they can be stubborn opposition?

I think it´s one of those games that if Real doesn´t score early in the game they may struggle to get more than 1 goal, but if they do score early... APOEL will be smashed I believe.

I just noticed the season ticker rates LIV away to NEW above the home team. Any disagree with this?

Any reason why Howard isn't on the watchlist? Everton's next four look OK and he rotates well with another popular choice; Vorm.

I was considering Krul in for Sorensen but Newcastle don't look good at the back. Everton look stronger and Howard is only 0.4m more.

If you were SAF who would you get in off the current lot of midfielders available? Hazard, Gotze, Sneijder, Modric, Martinez, Eriksen or someone else?
