I hate double Gameweeks. So often false dawns for Fantasy managers, they can promise so much and deliver so little leaving you frustrated and left to clear the ugly remnants of some hurried squad surgery. Then again – the announcement of the latest slew of doubles may just have left the door ajar for me to close the mini-league gap on Mark. Our host was certainly wriggling uncomfortably in his chair during today’s recording, pondering the damage that the Gameweek 34 blanks could inflict and the surge in points that Gameweeks 35 and 36 could bring.

In truth we hardly had time to digest the full picture before dragging ourselves into the studio. Like giggling schoolgirls at a One Direction concert, we were giddy with excitement and largely incoherent with our speech. Still, in and amongst the usual regulars, you might just find something of value amongst the jibberings.

    Im pretty sure im just gonna play 10 men gw 34, makes no sense to me to bring in a defender for a hit just to have to get him out in 2 weeks time for the double. I`ll have Vorm Verm Evans Siggy Tony V Sessegnon Walcott RVP Rooney Graham with no hits. I`m right, amirte?

      Yeah your onto it. The hit isn't worth in this instance and you still get them for the same amount of games so it makes no difference.

        Yeah i mean, my frontline has amazing fixtures that round anyway, i just dont see the point of getting in some Sunderland defender (which is what i would do) just to hope he gets a cleanie or assist which is what i need to profit on it. Also i`d have to get him out 2 games later, and i`d much rather have that extra transfer to get in a Spurs or Chelsea defender, which both have very tasty double fixtures.

          Also i know its a long time till i actually have to consider this, but as of now it sure does look tasty to get HBA in, especially when they have Wigan. Might not get alot from Chelsea, but then again he might, hes extraordinary. Although that would mean i`d have to get rid of Tony V and bench Rooney against City.

              Problem for me is i really dont have the room. I want to keep Sessegnon on now as i stuck with when he was suspended. And he has Wolves and Bolton home 2 out of the 3 next after that. Think i`ll just keep him, HBA could actually be benched in some of their tougher away fixtures.

                    I could do Tony V out and HBA in to get another double GW player, ive looked at that. Stoke on the road arent that good and Wigan are just shait, and United have Everton and City in those two weeks, which i dont really see a ton of goals in.

      A) Barfa is the clincher for me. Also Bogdan for his 2 DGW's so long as you can bench him GW34 is also a good option. Likewise I think Stoke's fixtures warrant having Wilko in the team

        I'm thinking Rooney/RVP (mci/sto)> Suarez/Adebayor (FUL, nor/BLA,bol) as a DGW punt, then do one of them back to RVP for NOR wba and ditch the other GW38 for Aguero (QPR)
        Haha, planning at it's finest.

          I think Rooney will do well against City. If i don't have him then, i'd consider bringing him back in for the city game. I'm thinking Walcott, Verm and/or song may be enough Arsenal coverage with their fixtures.

            Rooney has City away during the double gameweek, surely priority is bringing in DGW'ers who have more potential?
            Going without RVP for NOR wba? 😕 No thanks.

              But instead of RVP, you'd have Ade or Suarez + lots of cash. Walcott and Verm may be enough cover for those fixtures. But only of course if RVP dips in form.

                I'd have Walcott + Vermaelen + RVP for NOR wba, after ditching Suarez (CHE/swa) for RVP after the Double.

                  Nice plan, so long as you can afford to bring back RVP, i'd imagine you'd lose a lot of value.

    If my masterplan goes as planned (no injuries or suspensions on the way) I will have 9-10 DGW players in GW 36. And will still be able to field 10 players in GW 34. My 36 gw team would look like this:

    Krul

    Baines Simpson Kelly

    Gerrard Mata Bale Myiachi

    Adeb Ba Van Persie

    Bench: Ruddy Caulker Valencia Evans

    Nervy times!!!

    Here's my plan, suggestions and criticism welcomed!

    Team this week:
    Vorm (Sorensen)
    JEvans - Komp - Verm (Caulker - Williamson)
    Bale - Demps - Siggy - Valencia (McClean)
    RVP - Rooney - Ba

    1.0 in the bank.

    Plan so far:
    GW31 Save FT
    GW32 Demps --> Walcott
    GW33-35 ???-->???

    Basically I have enough players to field 11 in GW34, but ultimately want to get some more DGW players in for GW36.

    Open to suggestions, thanks!!

      If you have only 11 for GW34, you will have 3 DGW players & Sorensen. With 2 frees & your GW35 transfer , you can get 6 without a hit. Will you want to play Vorm in GW36 or a DGW keeper?

          You are in a better position than most on here. I have to use my 4-5 frees to get 4-5 players in. Just concentrate on scoring the most points until GW34 & not have many reserves then as each one equals 1 less GW36 DGW player. I have no choice but to sell Ba for a GW34 player.

            Atm im thinking:
            3 spurs(bale + ade/vdv + bae/walker/kaboul)
            0-1 chelsea (cahill?)
            0-1 pool (suarez?)
            1-2 toon(williamson, keep or sell ba?)

          I think for Chelsea I'll just be going one of Mata/Lampard and maybe Cahill if he is playing regularly. Going with all 3 could be a waste as they might only play 1 and a half games or something.
          Suarez is pretty much the only one in my thoughts for Pool, maybe Gerrard if he's playing

      You have exactly the same front seven as me.

      Would do McClean to Miyachi for gw 35, and then bring in Adebayor, Mata for Roo and Walcott for gw 36.

      Could make a hit for Baines, G Cahill or someone like that. Maybe even Siggy to Gerrard?

      Flip coins. I could see all of them performing. Only thing is Jelavic might get rested, but if he starts WBA are in terrible form.

      On another topic, i just realized Adebayor is a good shout for the double. Not all that concerned with losing Roonpig as i`ll probably need a differential anyway.

    Assuming Everton/Stoke is moved to 36, is this team too weak for 34? Only 10 players.

    Hi gents,

    My team for this week:
    reina
    evans caulker mcauly
    valencia dempsey bale mclean
    rvp rooney suarez

    have 1FT so thinking of taking mcauly or mclean....who i should i remove?

    Also, I have a wildcard left....should i play it this week? but then with very few teams playing in gw34 and the double gameweeks in gw36, i would still have to loose points to bring in players for dgw..
    thoughts?

      Right

      1) Use ALL you freebies up to GW34 to get the best team out

      2) Use the WC in GW35 and fill up on 8/9/10 DWGers

      3) Sit back and see your team hit 150 😀

      Since I have my wildcard, my plan is to get a full 11 for gameweek 34 and then wildcard the week after so as number of games my players will play. Since your team is not in terrible shape I don't see why you would wildcard. I don't see why you would get rid of McClean or McAuely since they have fixtures in gameweek 34. You realize Caulker can't play this week? I would look at losing Dempsey or Bale for Walcott/Yaya Toure when gameweek 34 comes around and then wildcarding them back in, depending of course on how much money you'll lose.

    Well, all these DGWs certainly puts the cat amongst the pigeons. What do we think would be the ideal (and generally affordable) 15 for GW34? I reckon something like:

    Migs, Bogdan(NA)
    Verm, JEvans, Caulker, Turner, Skrtel(NA)
    Walcott, Valencia, Siggy, Mclean, Bale (NA)
    RVP, Rooney, Adebayor (NA)

    Then GW35: Mclean -> Ryo
    and GW36: Verm & Valencia -> BAE & Gerrard/Mata (4 point hit)

      Well, doing Skrtl > Cahill the day before the DGW announcement was a bit of a mistake. Should have waited and bought a City defender. We live and learn, though.

      Anyway, my current plan looks like Gerrard & Pog > McClean & Aguero in GW 33 ( all caveats applying ). Can field 11 with a decent team in that case. Great fixtures for the bigger teams in week 34. City have a nice little run in there as well. Why not get Aguero if he's fit?

      Then bring in a Spurs defender in GW 35, closely followed by Suarez & Ade ( all caveats applying ). I'll probably sell Rooney! Swap Suarez for Aguero / Tevez for the final 2 games and it looks OK. 6 Dgwers for 36 and no hits.

      If only Villa had a decent, reliable midfielder that would be perfect. They'll get Jacques Sheet at Old Trafford but 3 homes in 4 against not so strong opposition look good. Meh.

    My plan for DGW. Ummm...... No idea yet. Just plan to save 1 FT next week, field 11 on GW34, and get Ryo. Other players are subject to their form. Only Spurs players look interesting for me.

    Btw, what's about the king of DGW Dempsey? Not good fixtures. Do you plan to have him?

    What CHE coverage are people looking to get in for GW36? I have none right now and only Mata is in my plans. More required for such a tasty run in?

    GW36: QPR & NEW
    GW37: liv
    GW38: BLA

      remember mata has like 5 games in the span of a week, might get rested for QPR, and RDM has been talking about shuffling the team until season's end

        Well then, curses. I didn't think of that. But I still think Chelsea will need to lock up top 4 and he will play. Depends on what the table says in 5 weeks.

      I think Mata could do quite well. He hasn't been great fantasy wise but he has had some big home games and QPR/NEW + Blackburn look quite good. Plus, I assume Chelsea will still have to be competing for a Champions League place.

      If anyone, only Mata. Rotation and mixed form make it most unexciting.

      who knows, if Mata's a rotation risk, I could see myself skipping altogether.

      The only major problem is that there really aren't many good DGW midfielders. After Miyaichi and Bale, or VDV if you are able, (most will have Ade and a spurs defender with Bale) it becomes quite tricky. Osman? Cabaye? Jonas? That's a lot of 'meh' right there.

        Yeah, very true. You know I'm almost resigning myself to keeping Suarez for the DGW since I already have him and to -> Adebayor is 1 transfer less to get another DGWer in. Sounds mad but I'm actually contemplating a Rooney -> Adebayor move in GW36!

          I have this same attitude with Ba. I would then get Ade for Rooney, as well. Seems so stupid, though.

      I'm looking at bringing in Cahill and maybe taking a punt on Lampard getting match time... even 90 mins could be more profitable than Walcott at Stoke, who he would be coming in for...

      I looked at Drogba, but I think Ade is a more sensible option...

      Mata could be an option, but I might decide on Gerrard over the two Chelsea mids...

      Exciting times... some risky decisions to be made...

    Does this look right for this GW?

    Krul

    BAE - Evans - Kelly

    Walcott - Dempsey - Bale - Valencia

    Rooney - RVP - Cisse

    Bench: Vorm - Cahill - McClean - Simpson

    2.0 in bank

    Looking ahead to the DGW in 36, I'm not convinced playing Krul (wig,che) ahead of Vorm (WOL) will benefit me.

    I'm not convinced he will score more than Vorm over the 2 games, and I'm not going to play him just because of his DGW...

      smart thinking 😉

      Do you think its worth getting in ryo GW35+36 (SWA avl sun TOT)

      for mcClean (avl, bol) over both GWks??

          that leaves just 4 more free transfers until the DGW 😉

          thinking: ryo, kaboul, ade, and either gerrard/lamps/mata

    Obviously riddled with caveats, but this is my rough transfer plan up to the DGWs - any major no nos in here?

    Migs, Bogdan
    Skrtel, Enrique, JEvans, Caulker, Shotton
    Demspey, Walcott, Valencia, Siggy, Surman
    RVP, Rooney, Suarez
    Bank 2.5m, 2 freebies

    GW31: Enrique & Surman -> Vermaelen & Miyaichi
    GW32: No transfer
    GW33: Dempsey -> Bale
    GW34: Shotton -> Turner (Gives me 10 starters)
    GW35: Vermaelen -> Enrique
    GW36: Turner, Valencia & Rooney -> BAE, Mata & Adebayor (4 point hit) (Gives me 9 DGWers)

      Looks good, just keep an eye on Mata's GT, might be subjected to rotation since chelsea have so many games bunched into a short period of time. Also keep an eye on Gerrard

      That looks pretty sound. Get I'd get McClean instead of Ryo if that gives you 11 players.

      Don't waste your transfer on Enrique - you need more Chelsea players mate!

        I actually did think about Mclean and Cahill! Trouble with Mclean is I'd probably only play him in GW34, whereas I'd possibly play Ryo a few times and he has consecutive DGWs. Chelsea rotation factor is a concern although Enrique could be Cahill in GW35. If so I might even do:

        Walcott, Valencia & Rooney -> Gerrard, Lampard & Adebayor in GW36!!

      Very similar to my plan

      10 starters GW 34, 9 DGWers week 36, 4 point hit

      Sounds good to me.

      But, as we both know, injuries and form will butcher this plan before any of it comes to affect.

        Yep. 3 ARS, 3 MUN, 2 SWA and 2 SUN is what I'm looking at for GW34.

        You reckon it's worth doing Surman -> Ryo this week, or hold off another week (just in case he gets injured this week)? If I do it now, would you start him over Siggy this week?

          Yeah, should be 2 Ars, 3 united, 3 swans, 1 Sun, 1 wba for me.

          honestly, if I didnt already have ryo, I'd wait to get him until GW 35, if possible. Yes, I would start him over siggy

      I think Verm to Enrique is a bit backwards...

      Verm has proven he can score points in the big games as well, and Chelsea, away from home, haven't been scoring goals - only 2 since January...

      Liverpool are hopeless right now, especially at the back... I personally don't like the Liverpool defense for the double...

      You're gonna be left with Mata & Ade for GW37, who are both away from home... and they're not exactly prolific away from home - one attacking return each since December...

      I think 8 DGWers without the hit would set you up better for GW37 and beyond...

      Overall though, good transfers...

        That's a good point Zep, cheers mate! Retaining Verm and running with 8 DGWers (no hit) or perhaps doing Verm -> Cahill could be the way to go. Hmmm

          Verm to Cahill is a very good transfer, but only if you do it in GW36, and preferably without a hit...

          No point in doing it the week before, unless you plan to bench him...

            What about as the above up to GW34, then:

            GW35: Turner -> Kelly
            GW36: Valencia & Rooney -> Gerrard/Mata & Adebayor. This means no hits, 8 DGWers and benching Walcott over Siggy (WOL) and RVP (sto).

            alternative:

            GW35: Walcott -> Dempsey
            GW36: Turner & Rooney -> BAE & Ade (with a possible point hit for Valencia -> Mata as well)
