I hate double Gameweeks. So often false dawns for Fantasy managers, they can promise so much and deliver so little leaving you frustrated and left to clear the ugly remnants of some hurried squad surgery. Then again – the announcement of the latest slew of doubles may just have left the door ajar for me to close the mini-league gap on Mark. Our host was certainly wriggling uncomfortably in his chair during today’s recording, pondering the damage that the Gameweek 34 blanks could inflict and the surge in points that Gameweeks 35 and 36 could bring.

In truth we hardly had time to digest the full picture before dragging ourselves into the studio. Like giggling schoolgirls at a One Direction concert, we were giddy with excitement and largely incoherent with our speech. Still, in and amongst the usual regulars, you might just find something of value amongst the jibberings.

    A) How many players are people fielding in gameweek 34?

    B) How many DGW'ers are people fielding in gameweek 36?

I can't be sure right now but I immagine I won't be worrying too much about shifting out players who have a blank in GW 34 just to bring them back in for a hit a couple of weeks later.

      I'll probably be fielding:

      9/10 players in GW 34

around 6 DGWers in GW36 depending on a lot of things!

The only outstanding targets at the moment are an extra Spurs player, Bodgdan and maybe a Liverpool player if their form picks up

Injuries aside I'm gonna have 11 for GW34 and 7 DGWers (no hits) for GW36 with Caulker (WOL), Turner (BOL), Siggy (WOL) and RVP (sto) making up the 11.

Will have enough cash in the bank to upgrade Turner to a TOT/CHE defender in GW36 (will have Bale & Ade as TOT coverage and possibly none or one of Mata/Lamps as CHE coverage).

Question is, is it worth the hit given Turner's fixture?

          Really?
In my maths, 34 is before 36 and as you see I only have five to play for that week so pretty much need to think what is least bad way to go...

If I say yes for your question, what do you do for that information right now?
How does it effect on your plans?

Haha, well obviously my point was that you are also looking forward to future GWs. Whether it's 34 or 36 doesn't really matter.

If you say yes, I sit back, stroke my imaginary long beard, and then go out for lunch. All these future posts are a bit nonsensical as things will change and affect the best laid plans. That said, I always like to have a rough outline of what to go for.

    Morning guys,

I think even you can't help me with this one, but please be free to try!

    My team for gw34
    -
    Evans, -, -, -, -
    Valencia, Siggy, -, -, -
    Rooney, Rvp, -

    Looks good, ha?

One of my problems is keeper situation, Krul + Sorensen.
I have to take a hit sometime anyway, so I'm willing to do it as soon as possible if you have good ideas for that matter

    Some ideas
    a) Krul => Friedel
Only gw35 is where I could play krul instead of friedel, so decide to save cash - no keeper for gw34 tough.
    b) Sorensen => Bogdan
No game for gw34, but can play Bogdan for various weeks instead of Krul
    c) Sorensen => Given
Doesn't rotate with Krul, gw34 is away game to mu, but good double on gw35
    d) Sorensen => Mignolet / Vorm
Gives me a good game for gw34 and some rotation.
    e) Sorensen => Hart
Lots of cash goes there for keepers.....
    e)

Considerin my transfers in are restricted to players from GW 34 what’s my best option

    Krul
    SKRTEL Evans Kelly
    Valencia Dempsey Bale Siggy
    Rooney Rvp BA

    Mignolet Mclean Enrique Caulker
1 FT and 4.6 in bank

    Do i
    A)Ba to Aguero
    B)Skrtel to Vermaelen

Will still have money in the bank to get Vermaelen in for skrtel in 2 weeks

Dempsey->Walcott in GW33 seems a sensible transfer, would also play GW34 home to wigan.

Dempsey to Walcott already pencilled in for GW 33 for weeks.. hopin verm wal rvp wont be an overload of arsenal players though.. hence my interest in kompany.. guess keepin ba makes sense though.. will prob have to leave him in for the season though if i dont take him out now(other transfers and priorities till gw 34 and then a double)

Don't you think it's pretty poor advice to suggest keeping Ba? He isn't scoring points and you need points in this game to do well. Simple as that surely? People have waited patiently enough for returns but with Cisse hogging the best attacking positions it is definitely worth getting rid for a hit in my opinion.

Probably because I don't like taking hits. If you don't have more pressing matters, then get rid. But if you do, keep him at least for liverpool.

Even though he has been playing deeper, he has been very unlucky not to score much higher over the last few weeks.

+1, Ba is not really a pressing concern, because no 3rd striker right now is consistently reeling in pts. Ba is a player who can clearly produce, as we saw in the first half of the season. As discussed many times, there is no 3rd striker worth getting without a risk, and imo ba>cisse is a waste of a transfer since its a sideways move. Yes, Ba is on a cold streak if you may call it that, but he is very unlucky to not have scored as of late if you watch any of toon games. Also he is on pks, so thats a bonus. Thats my justification for keeping Ba.

A fair justification as far as keeping but surely as far as a 3rd striker is concerned Cisse can definitely be considered consistent and on form? Who knows, maybe he'll be on pens now 😛

Cisse is not greedy... like I said Ba has just been very unlucky as of late, a bit of Suarez-esque finishing (posts and what-not). And surely the 3rd spot is important but there's just nobody that interests me atm to fill the void, so Ba stays for now.

How can you be greedy in terms of a position?!?, its not you who decides, its the coach... You cant be a left back a feel greedy, so go up and play striker.

Cisse is ultimately playing higher up the pitch due to pardew's coaching tactics, not because he is greedy.....

For example, Ba and Cisse both slid in for the ball for one of his goals, Cisse was in the better position? It does seem like a silly argument but it seemed to me that Cisse was more attacking minded on the break whereas Ba seemed nowhere to be seen. Surely when countering formation (to an extent) goes out the window?

Mind you that was an away game, and china being a toon fan clearly stated that cisse was playing higher only because it was an away game, and they use counter-attacking a lot. I cant stand ignorant statements "when they both slid in" thats a hunk of crap, if you watched the previous 3 toon games ba could have easily had 2-3 goals.

I'd be surprised to see that Ba-Cisse-HBA offensive lineup change any time soon. It's a sort of a Young-Rooney-Valencia type choice; either could rack up the points on the day.

If you have him, keep him. He's due the points right now i reckon.

All depends on what he does in the meanwhile, if he starts knocking them in willy billy he'll be hard to eradicate... but if he continues to play deep and fail occasionally it's hard to look the other way with Adebayors fixtures, and lovely smile

Is it just me thats only concerned with getting in players now that will help me out this GW and worry about GW's 34 and 36 later?

I have an eye on the blank fixture but I really need to get players that I think will help my team over the next few weeks and all those ones tend to be mainly from teams with a blank in GW34!

Whats the point in getting someone like Graham, who will prob score 2 pts as he's done for the last 5 weeks, but will play in GW34, as opposed to someone like Cissé who will prob get a couple more double figure hauls before the blank?

See, I'd just get the one you think is going to do well this week and next week.

Then worry about the GW34 in GW33. Lots could have changed between now and then and who knows what players that everyone is planning to get in or keep for the DGW's might get injured and have to be replaced.

Chances are that several teams fielding 6 or 7 players in GW34 are going to outscore many teams that will field 11 starters anyways.

this is a poor way of approaching a transfer, considering you only have 1 freebie a week. Get someone you will keep long-term, and possibly for the DGW and GW24 (i.e. verm)

No. We aren't really a dirty side that goes out to kick lumps out of you.

Cissé has just had 2 moments of madness completely out of character (his previous disciplinary record gave no indication to anyone that he would react like this).

Diakité is used to being physical in African football, he just has to realise that refs punish those over exuberant tackles over here.

Arsenal should beat us comfortably as we seem to be completely clueless about how to defend (you could go to your local park on a Sunday morning and probably find more organized defences amongst the hungover, over-weight 35 year olds than you could with our lot).

However, there is a reason why they play the games so there's that element to it.

Realistically though, Arsenal should win this going away.

I think so. Mackie is better as an impact player off the bench than a starter. I think Joey will start again now as point has been made by Hughes, and correctly so too.

SWP prob more in doghouse than Joey. Hope Helguson can play but may be too early for him.

Lol, no offense mate, but you were saying that Sunderland and McClean in particular wouldn't do that well against your boys and look what happened there.... 😉

End of the day, there are lots of reasons to get in someone like Graham-mainly the financial aspect in that he gives you some decent wedge to upgrade elsewhere. And he does play in 34.

Everyones situation is different so you just have to play your own game and see what happens.

I think Arsenal will stuff us tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be wrong there too.

I've listened to plenty people on here telling me or other people not to get x or y player, followed their advice and watched said players have absolutely cack weeks. That's just the way it goes sometimes.

Agree though, just do what you want to do. Usually your gut instinct is right. Sometimes (like in my case last week) it isn't. Ain't going to get everything right is ya?

I had him 1st on the bench - just thankful my move to Walcott softened the pain a little...

And in reverse of that, I've watched players touted about, not personally got them in - like Siggy a couple of weeks ago and then watched him pick up 16 points so it swings one way to another.....

Course not, I find myself making the wrong choice most weeks - hence my rank of 89K....

    Talking point:

How do people assess defensive targets in relation to DGWs?

Playing one (or even two) Spurs defenders is the obvious starting point as they have a couple of teams who are at the bottom of the table. Liverpool also look decent as they have a couple of favourable fixtures. Also, Bolton look good value GW35-36, even if only for appearance points.

However, would you rather play the likes of

    A) Turner/Mignolet (BOL), Vorm/Caulker (WOL), Howard/Hibbert (FUL)

    B) Krul/Simpson (wig, che), Schwarzer/Kelly (eve, liv)

    Discuss!

      A.

You'd have to say Newcastle won't keep a cleanie against Chelsea, so if they do against Wigan, then they're only likely to grab 1/2 more points than normal. Fulham games they are both away too so wouldn't rely on them.

My personal take on the DGW defence is, I'll be bringing in Kaboul, or at least a Spurs defender depending on what I can afford. They have potential for 2 CS. Then I already have Skrtel and Krul in my team so I may as well play them. I'll probably have Sagna/Kompany fill the 3rd slot, or both if I play 4-4-2.

Yeah I have to say I agree with your approach.

Would you look to shift Newcastle/Fulham defenders before GW34? I'm currently considering moving Kelly for Caulker and perhaps shifting Simpson for GW34 so I can field 11 players.

I've got Skrtel, BAE, Evans and Mignolet so I should be ok in that case.

Very pleased that Komps finally dropped last night-he'll be coming in for Skrtel for me this week.

    Team will be:

    Mig
    Kompany/BAE/Evans/Kelly
    Bale/Walcott/Valencia/Siggy
    RVP/Rooney

    Subs: Sorenson/Ba/McClean/Enrique

Up in the air as to whether I play Siggy or Ba, but we shall see.

    Looking ok?

As for this whole GW stuff, I'll look to shift out Ba for Graham next week and then Caulker in for Kelly so I field an 11 for 34, Ryo and Bogdan for 35 and then beef up the striker for 36.

But I'm sticking with Granville on this-36 is 5 weeks away and a lot can happen between now and then so Ive got 2m in the bank and keeping the options open.

Not exactly the best 2 keepers to choose from!

I'd say there's very little chance of either getting any clean sheet points. You're basically relying on saves.

On that front, I'd say Vorm looks to be the best bet.

Just to clarify my feelings regarding the positioning of the toon strikers, Dave's position doesn't change, whether we play home or away. He is right up top. How far up the pitch Ba plays in relation to him changes. Much deeper for away games, much higher at home (but still deeper than Dave). Please note, we haven't had much of a sample to go on, but I reckon that will be how we will line up most of the time. Though dave might not play the tough away games (Ba up front and pack the midfield). But then we only have chelsea remaining as tough away.

Gotcha, just went on a rant when FB said Cisse was selfish because he plays higher up the pitch, like it was a life choice of some sort. Pardew has clearly put him there for a reason, and it's worked thus far.

Do you think HBA is worth a shout later on this season or all his double digit hauls have come to an end?

I love that word numpty, I'm also tired and can't seem to put my opinion across right. I agree that Pardew has obviously put him further up the pitch and that Ba is playing deeper, however, when it comes to counter-attacking play after corners, set pieces etc, Ba seems completely disinterested in getting forward at all and Cisse seems to be grabbing any opportunity he can to add to his already impressive stats. That's what decided it for me.

        Does that make more sense?

Barfa is still a gamble, but in my opinion he has MASSIVE points potential. Look at the points that he has scored as a bit part player, coming in and out of the team. Imagine what he could do as a regular starter in a team that is starting to find attacking form. He is in my team, and will stay there until Pardew says so (except maybe GW34 when I might shift him of Dave out for a one week punt). I think that every team should have a barfa!

okay now i have my wc left...now i am thinking using it after gw 34 that way i can have a full playing 11 on gw 34 and can then create a team just for the last 4 gws wit double players stocked up in it....its my last ditch effort to usurp my mini league leader...is this okay?...or am i leaving my wc til too late?

Can I win my H2H this week? Here are the differentials between us:

Me: Skrtel, Dempsey, Gerrard, Siggy, Pog
Him: Santon(or simpson), BAE, Scholes, Silva, Graham

Just to be sure of winning who would you transfer out? Think were both going to captain Rooney.

I’m leaning towards Skrtel to Vermaelen.

Bench includes RTaylor and Morrison who I need rid of at some point.

I like it, I assume you're benching simpson because you're playing Suarez? I can see Swansea getting a goal at Spurs, not sure about the final score, but Siggy more than likely to be involved!

I have had a moment of inspiration!

Best possible transfer move this week...

Save it and have 2 frees next week to be able to plan the DGWs once the Stoke-Everton fixture is announced.

    GW32-36

I am playing in a monthly league, so any transfers made between Game Months March & April (betwen GW31 and GW32) will not eat into my GW32 points, but are deducted from my overall points. The money league is the monthly league, so all of us always use this 'artificial wildcard' to overhaul the team for the upcoming game month.

Fow Game Month April (GW32-36), I am thinking of the following:

GW32 Vorm, Jevans, Enrique, Simpson, Valencia, Walcott, Bale, Siggy, Rooney, RVP, Suarez (subs Bogdan, Warnock, BAE, Mclean). Taking -12hit, but they are not counted for that week's score, see above

GW 33 Vorm, Evans, Simpson, BAE, Valencia, Walcott, Bale, Siggy, Rooney, RVP, Suarez (subs Bogdan, Warnock, Enrique, Mclean). No transfer, 1 FT saved.

GW 34 Vorm, Evans, Warnock, Valencia, Walcott, Siggy, Mclean, Rooney, RVP, Aguero
So, 10 players in GW 34. 1 transfer made Suarez--> Aggy, 1 FT remains

GW35 Bogdan**, Evans, Warnock**, BAE, Valencia, Walcott, Bale, Siggy, Rooney, RVP, Aguero (subs Vorm, Simpson, Enrique, Mcleam). No transfers, 2 FT remain. Bogdan and Warnock have 2 DGWs, marked **

GW 36 Cech**, Enrique**, Simpson**, BAE**, Mata/Gerrard** Bale** HBA**, Siggy, RVP, Ade**, Suarez**. 5 transfers, so -12 hit. 9 players have DGWs** (big guns from TOT, CHE, LIV, NEW). 2 players play single GW (RVP vs sto, Siggy vs WOL)

In sum, I have 10 players in GW34, 2 play DGW35, 9 play in DGW36. Total hits -12, but self-paid by the DGW

    Questions:
    1) In terms of thinking process, does this seem right? (for a player in a monthly league)
    2) Any alternative players other than the above (Bogdan is there as a cheap 2nd keeper, Warnock is there for GW34 (mun) and DGW35 (SUN, BOL)

Sorry for the long winded post 🙂
