As one cup competition edges towards the finish line, the Paddy Power Cup VI is just getting into gear. Some 512 Fantasy managers pitted their wits against each other in the Gameweek 30 first round and here are the results.

Four of our five previous winners safely negotiated a passage into round two – donnelyc defeated jon13597493 61 – 50, Jonty ran away a 46 – 38 winner against Mull, Ninja_Fit_Saints breezed past Marvellus 54 – 40, and reigning champ sleepingmaster dismissed Tommyboy 58 – 52.

Missing the grade was Paddy Power Cup III winner, Gooner dave, who succumbed 50 – 46 to ralphypne.

On to the second round, and the full set of 128 fixtures can be viewed right here.

Aside from Jonty, Mark and myself (Akers 41* – 41 07warrel – casual) are the sole Scout representatives still in the competition, and have pulled out of the hat Sheffield Rules and Fenners respectively.

All ties to be played across the upcoming Gameweek 31. Good luck to everyone with a fixture this weekend, and commiserations to those leaving the competition at this stage.

quick poll, which to get this week

Kompany - (assuming he's back), great clean sheet potential, plus bonus, and plays GWk 34, no double
Baines, great clean sheet and goal potential, unlikely to play Gwk 34, likely double gwk 36
Vermaelen - great goal threat, will play gwk 34, no double

Every transfer from here on in, should benefit you in either GW34 or GW36 or both. Bringing in Kompany doesn't match that criteria.

Full XI should definitely not be the goal for gw34. gw 36 fixtures are much more crucial as taking a punt on a player who plays 2 games (gw36) turns out to be much more successful than taking a punt of a player who just plays 1 game (gw34)

Kompany with SUN ars WBA nor wol MUN in the next 6, personally I see 3 clean sheets there, seeing as that's pretty much what you're banking on from him I'd go Baines (assuming you have enough for 34)

As I have Hart, I changed Enrique to Verm this week rather than Baines thinking ahead to GW34 and also the fact Arsenal have QPR coming up. Fancy him to score there! 🙂 Also left me 1.2m in the pot for third striker tinkering...

thanks all. I've got eight gwk 34 ers ....four transfers before then, so can afford to get baines in and still have 11. What started off as a simple 'oh I'll get Baines in' decision earlier this week, has turned into a very big call.

        All three are great choices.

The lesser number of players I field in Gw34, the better my team looks for Gw36. Gw36 has some really enticing fixtures so I am wondering whether I should just play 6-7 players in Gw34 rather than focussing on Gw34 and making transfer decisions so I may fielding upto 9/10 players in that gw.

I love planning, Infact i even leave room for emergency transfers cause of injuries etc. Now that I have really analyzed in detail, you are going to have an amazing time with your wc. It is gonna be awesome especially as the fixtures are really epic for gw36 (nothing better than two easy fixtures in a dgw).
When you draw up the fixtures please try and leave me out of the semi-final and quarter-final as I dont want to face you in gw34 or gw36 and I feel sorry for those who eventually do. (assuming we both qualify)

Cool, I've got a transfer addict in the cup. 51 transfers and a points hit already this week. This could go either way.

Skrtel has played 1 more game than Enrique, in the two games Skrtel has missed, Liverpool kept one CS, in the 1 game Enrique missed, they kept 1 CS, they've both kept 10 CS's and Skrtel has 3 more points, is that worth 0.5? Decide for yourself on that one

A full XI for GW34 and 7 DGWers for GW36 with only one hit.

    And relax. 😛

I might take a hit alright between gw 34 and 36 but it should be worth it given the extra fixtures 🙂

It's kinda hard to get 11 for GW34 when you don't want to get rid of Dempsey or Bale

Make sure you have a great team for both gameweeks. You can use it in GW36 & prepare for the last 3 weeks too.

Already done Ba to Ade this week.

Should I give Silva 1 more week, or ship him out? If out, who for, Walcott, Yaya, someone else?

What's the deal with Senderos? I'll keep him this week and Simpson will come of my bench if needed, but I'm surprised to see Aaron Hughes ahead of him at CB. With the way fixtures are, I can't really have two non-certain defenders in my squad (Taiwo and Senderos). Hmmm.

Hughes and Hangelaand are a much better partnership than Senderos and Hangelaand and I reckon Jol has come to realise this. Senderos isnt the greatest and H H have played together for a good 3 years now. Id keep Senderos on the bench if I were Jol anyway. Dont know what he will do!

Pure speculation (based on his argument with Mancini), but did Balotelli have anything to do with the mysterious Aguero injury?

What kind of injury makes a manager talk about an injury that lasts 1 day or 2 weeks?

Based on recent weird injuries, I assume that either:
      a) Baloteli was asleep on Aguero's stairs and he tripped over him
      b) Aguero was riding around a golf course on Baloteli's back and they hit a tree

Although the good old fashioned "I accidently dropped a Mario Baloteli on my foot" is always an option.

ooo interesting idea... Balotelli does seem the type to lose it a bit in a practice match.
Either way it's great for me with my Tevez (c) 😀

Balotelli or Dzeko? (or anyone that costs 8.1m or less. I was contemplating Jelavic too)

in the 8.1m or less bracket Dave Cisse is probably the best. Jelavic is also good.

I wouldn't go near a man city striker ...too much risk of rotation.
