Thursday’s double Gameweek announcements certainly stirred the pot, confirming some incoming blanks whilst handing us an extra roll of the dice in Gameweek 36. With our squads are under greater scrutiny, this might just be the time to break up the template and take a punt. Friday’s delivery of “differentials” is timely, then, packaging something different for the weekend for every Fantasy budget…

Shaun Maloney

Wigan’s forgotten man for much of this season, Shaun Maloney has crash landed back onto the scene and his penalty last weekend was just rewards for a succession of sterling performances at the heart of midfield. Ok he isn’t the most glamorous of picks, but as a 4.5 regular starter with a consistent attacking threat and penalties to boot, Maloney would make a great choice for a fifth midfielder in a Wigan side desperate for points.

The Latics are deservedly in the relegation zone this season but you should never underestimate the Fantasy potential of a team fighting to stay afloat, as Liverpool found out to their cost last weekend. Fixtures stiffen up considerably after this weekend’s home tie against Stoke, but they do offer the bonus of playing in Gameweek 36 when many other sides miss a week, so Maloney’s value could come into play as a sub even if you bench him for their difficult run.

Steven Pienaar

Everton struggled to deliver any kind of consistent attacking threat in the early stages of this season but the reunion of Leighton Baines and Pienaar on the left, and the introduction of Nikica Jelavic up front, has rejuvenated Moyes’ men. Such was their dominance at Swansea and Sunderland recently that they could easily have won either game by a three or even four goal scoreline had they taken their chances and they are brimming with confidence right now.

The South African has been given more freedom to roam than last season and his relationship with Baines will surely provide the key supply line to the in-form Jelavic when a wounded West Brom arrive at Goodison this weekend.

Carlos Tevez

It would require a huge leap of faith (or desperation) to spend 11.7m on the Argentinian loose cannon at this early stage, but there are precious few players in the league with the same explosive potential as Carlos Tevez. With just 0.6% ownership in the Fantasy Premier League game, you can virtually guarantee none of your rivals will have him and with a home tie against stuttering Sunderland up next, a repeat of one of last season’s mega hauls is optimistic, but definitely a possibility.

Mancini admitted in today’s press conference that Tevez is unlikely to start this weekend, but we’re not so sure. Aguero has been ruled out with a ‘stupid’ injury and Mario Balotelli’s midweek antics are also is also expected to count him out. That leaves just Tevez and the big Bosnian as options up front and although a 45/45 split is probably the likeliest scenario, there is a Tevez-shaped hole in the City attack that he will be desperate to fill.

    Look good for the weekend?

    Mignolet
    Sagna Evans Skertl
    Miyaichi Bale Dempsey Siggy
    RVP Rooney Suarez

    Lindy,Caulker,Santon,Surman

A few weak players I think but is anything worth a 4 point hit?

Sorry guys. I'm going to do a 'The Steady'

    Vorm - Krul
    Verm - Kompany - Skrtel - Kelly - Evans
    Dempsey - Miyaichi - Bale - Young - Sigurdsson
Rooney - RVP - The Yak

Skrtel > Kaboul the best option here?

Same, that is why I did Ba--->P.Cisse. Young to Walcott/Valencia would be another popular choice, but that seems crabby seeing as I think Young will start.

I would do your suggest change, I presume you cant do Enrique--->Kaboul? Spurs have a better DGW so I would prioritise them over Lpool

Kelly out this week for a GW34 player, have 2.4 in the bank, leaving me 6.3 to spend.

I'm thinking Kelly to Sagna, Any better options than Sagna?

    Rest of team:

    Schwarzer (Vorm)
    Evans, Skrtel, Kelly (Simpson, Caulker)
    Bale, Dempsey, Valencia, Sigs (McClean)
    RVP, Rooney, Suarez

I'm most interested in the last two weeks of the season, the DGW hangover.

And the teams with good fixtures there are Spurs, Stoke, Wigan, Everton and Wolves.

So it looks like the ones worth having from 35 onwards are Spurs players really

Don't listen to these muppets Churchill; it's all disinformation. Sunderland will score this weekend so having Kompany (if he plays) is a waste of time. Siggy on the other hand has shown he can do the business, especially against a team who are starting to show the signs of cracking under pressure.

I've made my transfer, am now thinking if a hit is worthwhile.

    Thoughts welcome.

    1m in bank.

    Krul - Mignolet
    Verm - Cahill - Caulk - JEvans - Santon
    Bale - Valencia - Sess - Siggy - Demps
    RVP - Rooney - Ba

Sess looks useless until GW34, and I could get McClean in for that game.
Selling him gives me 7.7m which = Yaya.

But does Yaya instead of Siggy this week = 4 pts.

    Any other ideas?

I need to get rid of Santon too at some point, and Ba is in the last chance saloon.

    My team is

    Vorm
    Simpson, BAE, Evans
    Dempsey, Bale, Siggurdson, Valencia
    RVP (C), Cisse, Rooney

    Bench: Bogdan, Lescott, Enrique, Sessegnon
    Money in bank: 2.1m

Before the Arsenal price rises, which one should I do?

    1. Lescott out > Vermalan in (keep Siggurdson)

    2. Siggurdson + Lescott out > Walcott + Caulker in (problem of doubling up on Swansea defence)

    3. Siggurdson + Lescott out > Ben Arfa + Veramalan in (problem of Ben Arfa being subbed/rested)

Well for your team to beat 40 points you'd need 2 points from each player = 24
And then 16 points in goals, assists, bonus and clean sheets.

So that's 1 cleanie, two goals from midfield.

Anything extra means I come out ahead in the deal, it all looks great, right?

    Krul
    S.Kelly Vermaelen Enrique Evans
    Bale Valencia Dempsey
    Rooney(vc) RVP(c) Suarez

subs - Vorm, McClean, Simpson, Pilkington

Haven't made a transfer this GW, think my team is good enough to wait till next week? If not i have 1 freebie and 0.6m in the bank. Was considering either:

    a) Enrique > Cahill/Assou-Ekotto

Hmm, but even with a makeshift defence for Newcastle liverpool's attack has been poor.

Still, they should be able to score against Perch and Williamson at CB, right?

Still, he's on the bench, probably won't come on.

Vorm at Spurs looks to be good for save points, but no CS either, so yeah, play Krul

Is anyone here not happy about the double GW's? I'm not happy - much prefer stragic planning with one or two transfers per GW without having to modify your team too much. Although they're v useful when trying to play catch up on mini leaguers they cause me far too much of a headache in planning weeks ahead! Having said that, I'm sure I'll be taking points hits in the run up to GW 36 so I've got maximum double GW's players playing and sure as hell I'll be hoping for a big score as a result!

Blank and double Gameweeks are what separate the men from the boys in FPL. Any disruption to the fixture list is very welcome for me as it's a chance to get one over on your rivals if they're not on the ball! There's gonna have to be some serious tinkering and difficult decisions to be made but I have no doubt it'll be ultimately worth it. Bring it on!

Exciting I know but I prefer a careful approach without extra games to consider! That's probably because we haven't had a multiple double GW to occupy us this season - just makes things things more complicated and I'm not sure my brain can take that kind of forward planning at tis stage of the season. You're right of course - if you can plan it right it could make your season. So, without trying to steal ideas, who you thinking will be THE players to have in GW 36?

The best looking double is obvious Spurs (BLA, bol) so at the very least I'd want to have Bale & either BAE or Walker, if I can some how squeeze in Adebayor then great. Mata, Cahill, Cisse, Dempsey and Miyaichi could also be decently shouts. The Liverpool double isn't doing too much for me right now.

It's also worth noting that Swansea and Sunderland both have nice fixtures in 36 too so aside from either Vorm or Mignolet, McClean and Siggy could be important too.

True - GW 34 I see as more important - ensure you have a decent 11 - save you're freebie in GW 35 and then try and get maybe 3-4 double GW players in 36 - it's the hits that hurt you IMO

    Krul
    Evans Kelly McAuley
    Bale Valencia Dempsey MDavies
    RvP Roo Suarez

    Vorm Pilkington Simpson JEnrique

    1FT, 3.1m in the bank.

Weakest spots this GW: McAuley (eve) and MDavies (wol)
Need players who play in GW34.

Plan A: Vermaelen/Kompany in for Simpson, then (next GW) Walcott or Sigurdsson in place of Dempsey.

Plan B: Yaya in for MDavies (Pilkington will play in GW34, so would rather keep him) - City coverage needed and I'm planning on bringing Miyachi before 2 Bolton's DGWs. Or is MDavies worth keeping?
