The Members Paddy Power Cup II reaches its climax over the Easter period, with a champion set to be crowned after a couple of Gameweeks in quick succession. With the goal now in sight, eight Fantasy managers went head-to-head in Gameweek 31 in the Quarter-Finals and here’s how they played out…

1The Lord6362howie_c
2Fuzzy Dunlop6661BilboBaggins
3Pablod5448followthehearts
4KevIRL5062mch

With KevIRL bowing out, it’s now the Quarter-Finals top-scorer, Fuzzy Dunlop, who is the highest ranked in the competition, sitting 2,253rd overall. He’s been drawn against the tournament underdog in 79,585th ranked Pablod, while The Lord, progressing after a close encounter with howie_c, takes on mch, who eliminated the aforementioned KevIRL.

To clarify, here are the two match-ups in all their glory…

1The LordVs.mch
2PablodVs.Fuzzy Dunlop

Remember, a win here guarantees a prize and only two consecutive bad Gameweeks will see one of our remaining contingent going home empty-handed.

The fixtures are to be played across the upcoming Gameweek 32. Good luck to all four of our Semi-Finalists!

    Kelly -> Caulker, FT.

I already have Vorm but only have 4.1 to spend, no other pressing transfers at the minute.

Gives me 9 for gwk 34 at this stage.

    No problems with that?

9 if i ship out jelavic for graham/bendy for gw34, and back to cisse/jelavic gives me a total combo from here to gw36 in a 8 pt hit.

If I don't touch jelavic I play 8 players for gw34 and 10 dgw players for gw35 without any pt hit.

Either way I also play 4dgw players in gw35.

That GW35 could be a great diff Pratic if the games are high scoring. I thought I was the only one giving thought to balancing all three 34-36.

If i make 1 transfer a week from now, i can field a good 11 in GW34 with Bale, Adebayor, Dempsey and Krul on my bench. and then 2 free transfers and one hit upto GW36 will give me Huth,VDV and Terry as the remaining DGWers in GW36.

    Sounds good? Or very good?

If i dont get VDV then I dont see any other viable midfield options. Maybe Mata, but he is guaranteed even more rotation.

Is there a cheaper chelsea defender available? and price doesnt matter, i'll have shedloads of free cash

i have to choose between Huth an dKaboul but im unsure as to which one.

cheers all. I can afford to do it next gameweek as long as Walcott only goes up once between now and aftr the Arsenal game.

Probably worth keeping. This will be an interesting test for dempsey. If he can't score/assist away against Bolton then his double fixture prospects look bleak.

Isn't that logic kind of like if he scores big keep or if he fails (as expected for the away DGW's) get rid?

If that's the case then shouldn't you get rid now as you only expect a 2 pointer for away games?
Its kind of like a test but you already plan to get Walcott in so that proves you don't believe in him. Or will you get rid even if he gets a good score?

I think you are right. I believe that Walcott will score more over the next three weeks. I also believe that there are other better options for the double in his price range.

But this is a test. He's done me so well, perhaps with form changing and the season ending he can perform away. Basically if he does nothing against Bolton then it just proves my gut feeling of ditching him is right.

          Dempsey...let the test begin.

Petrov really the better option than Miyaichifor DGWs? Lots of people seem to think so.

      I have Miyachi.

If I was picking now though I would lean to Petrov due to the penalties, plus Coyle comments about worrying about burnout for Miyachi.

Yeah I see he said giving a few days off from training, but he may think 4 games in 2 weeks is too much and bench him for one game.

He benched Eagles earlier in season, when he was one of few performing.

I'm not sure (maybe i was dreaming) but didnt Petrov take the penalty kick in the last game? If so, then go for Petrov. And Petrov whips in shedloads of crosses every game irrespective of opponent. Miyachi seems to be good only against the slower defenders.

For Valencia captain argument are we thinking Taiwo and Traore are terrible defensively so he will have a field day?

Asking the question, as not sure who played leftback on the weekend or how they coped with an inform Walcott (I know he scored, but not sure how he was overall during the game).

Team for this GW - thoughts?

    Vorm
    Evans - Cahill - Enrique
    Siggy - Walcott - Valencia (v) - Bale
    Graham - RVP - Roo (c)

    Krul - McClean - Walker - Simpson

Transfer used to bring in Graham for Pog and the plan for next week is to bring in Gibbs for Enrique.

What does this sound like for a transfer plan till GW34

    GW32 - Kaboul > Caulker

    GW33 - Dempsey > Walcott

GW34- Kelly > Turner OR Miyaichi > McLean

Leaving me with this for GW34:

    Vorm
    Kompany - Verm - Evans - Caulker - (Turner?)
    Young - Walcott - Siggy - (McLean?)
    Rooney - RVP

    Bench - Krul - Cisse - Bale - Kelly/Miyaichi

GW36 he has Liv & Eve,probably where he will end up next season. He has point to prove.
I also had doubt abt Dempsey bt considering all these,I opted to keep Dempsey instead doing him for Walcott.

Now, ideally I would have Sessegnon as Sunderland coverage but not having Dempsey scares me and it is more to do with his fixtures either side of the double than the double itself to be honest. To try and get round this I was thinking of Bendtner as Sunderland coverage (yes, really). However, MON has said he will use the squad more now, mentioning Ji and Wickham in that sentence. Therefore, I would say the Bendy bus may be subject to a few unplanned stops along the route maybe?

A: Ba > Cisse this week and Dempsey > Walcott next, but playing Cisse ahead of Dempsey this weekend.
B: Do Dempsey > Walcott this week and play Walcott ahead of Ba.
C: Save Transfer (currently have Ba 1st sub)

    Current Team:
    Mig (Krul)

    Valencia(v) Sig Dempsey Bale McClean

My original plan was upgrade Fergurson to Sessgnon and Suarez down to bendtner and then for GW 34 bring back fergurson and go for Adebayor.

However now i'm thinking bring in wheater petrov and adebayor. But that will possibly take atleast a -8 or -12 point hit O.o mind = frozen/blown complicated to the max.

It seems the Dempsey situation has taken a u-turn. At first everyone was getting rid and now people are keeping him for the eve/liv dgw. I'm still weighing up whether him or Sess will get me more points.

My 11 players are playing 44 matches in 3 gameweeks without a pt hit. gw34-8, gw35-7+4x2=15, gw36-1+10x2=21. How can that be bad in any way?

Because, loooking at your team, you are sacrificing good points in 34 for 36.
You'll have the likes of Miyaichi/Wheater (sun/TOT) instead of say Sessegnon (WOL/BOL) and Caulker (BLA/WOL) as well as having Mata who would most likely get rotated for QPR.
I just think there is more to be made from Sunderland/Swansea players in 34 and 36 than most DGW'ers.

Its a possibility for sure. Banking on a player in a dgw is much easier than the one solitary good fixture. Either way, we will know for sure come gw36.

          It's not one solitary gameweek.
The non DGW'ers have a game in 34 that makes up for their lack of a double in 36.

Have you factored in that the more Dgw players you have for 36, the more chances of atleast 1 of them not starting both games. Also the more Dgw players you have, the less good fixtures your squad will have for GW's 37 & 38 given that you'd be having Liverpool/Chelsea/Newcastle dgw players who don't have the best final 2 games.

        This.
Pretty much everyone will have 40-45 players those gameweeks depending on hits, but it's another question whether or not they will play or get points.
I could have 50 players those weeks but it means nothing if they get rotated/2 points..

      ********Discussion Closed, People *******

Conclusion - : This is just an initial strategy to deal with gw34 and gw36. I really would like to avoid a hit for gw34. And b/w now and gw36, I am sure lots of players with form will arise and become must-buys, fa-cup results will be out, chelsea will be out of the cl by then, injuries (i am thinking of you, vdv), suspensions will occur but these I cannot factor now.

Thanks for all your opinions. Lets see what I eventually end up doing.

      No, a thousand times no.
You're going to use one transfer to get Kaboul out and another to get him back in. That's a waste of two transfers and transfers are at premium between now and GW36. Consider a transfer to cost 4 points. Will bringing in Caulker gain you 8 points over Kaboul?

    Krul (swa)
Cahill (WIG) | Evans J (QPR) | Caulker (NEW)
Valencia (QPR) | Dempsey (bol) | Sigurdsson (NEW) | Bale (sun)
Adebayor (sun) | Rooney (QPR) | Van Persie.

    C'mon chaps - only 1 answer before.

Thoughts on team for this GW?

    Vorm
    Evans – Cahill – Enrique
    Siggy – Walcott – Valencia (v) – Bale
    Graham – RVP – Roo (c)

    Krul – McClean – Walker – Simpson

Transfer used to bring in Graham for Pog and the plan for next week is to bring in Gibbs for Enrique.
