With Sunderland’s upcoming fixtures affording Fantasy managers a viable route into the conundrum that is Gameweek 34 and double Gameweek 36, Stephane Sessegnon looks primed for investment. The top scoring Fantasy Premier League (FPL) player for Martin O’Neill’s side, Sessegnon has a couple of home games against two of the bottom five and, with the Black Cats performances at the Stadium of Light continuing to impress, the Benin international could be set to profit once again.

Many managers’ transfer plans now turn to the difficult weekend ahead and, with eight sides facing blanks, a tactical alternative is to focus on those with strong fixtures over both Gameweek 34 and 36. One of only three sides with favourable home fixtures in each of those Gameweeks – along with Swansea and West Brom – O’Neill’s outfit face an out-of-sorts Wolves on Saturday before playing host to Bolton in a fortnight’s time. Sandwiched in between is a trip to Villa – a clash that won’t deter Sessegnon’s potential suitors.

Despite their recent hammering at Everton, a look at Sunderland’s contrasting home/away form since the sacking of Steve Bruce indicates just how strong a force the Black Cats are in front of their own fans. While they have picked up 11 points from 10 ten games on the road, the Wearsiders have accrued 20 points from nine home fixtures under O’Neill. Six wins, a couple of draws and a single loss are indicative of their reliable home displays, with Arsenal the only side to escape with the three points.

With two goals, three assists and five bonus points over his eight home appearances under O’Neill, Sessegnon has returned a total of 48 points at the Stadium of Light – an average of six points per home game since Bruce’s dismissal. Indeed, in spite of Sunderland’s poor away form, Sessegnon has remained consistent on the road – a couple of goals, three assists and four bonus points is almost identical to his home returns and will instill plenty confidence ahead of the Gameweek 35 trip to Villa Park.

While a trip to Fulham and home clash with United look tricky, Sessegnon’s short-term fixtures promote him highly in the updated Watchlist rankings and, with Nicklas Bendtner a doubt due to a back injury, he may well be afforded the opportunity to lead the line once again, as O’Neill’s side look to bounce back from the Goodison mauling and finish the season on a high.

Unfortunately, Sessegnon is better when playing behind Bendtner, as opposed to leading the line. He's isolated too often.

I've got nothing to lose really at this stage and to be honest it's hardly maverick since, as you point out, he's got the best fixture of all; I fancy Wigan to put up a great fight so don't see RVP or Walcott running riot as such and who knows what/where Rooney will be up to 😕

The figures don't back that up. At least, not in 2012. 7 games with Bendtner = 31 points. 4 games without = 34 points.

Good point. And I just realised it's 5 games without Bendtner. Of those 2 were with Frazier (12 points) and 3 weren't (22 points). But that's just getting down to small numbers that you can't really conclude anything from. If Bendtner doesn't play against wolves, will Frazier?

Probably not. He's been out for a while now. Bendtner's was only a minor back injury though, so we're probably worrying over nothing. Should hear more in O'neill's press conference. With respect to Sess on his own, i guess it depends largely on opposition though, as if he's up against a 3 man midfield like he was vs Everton, then he can sometimes just get marked out the game, as this post highlighted: http://www.rokerreport.com/2012/4/11/2940518/everton-tactics-sunderland-premier-league

Everyone keeps saying that Man U need to buy a top CM during the summer, which they do.

However, what they really need is a top class striker who can hold the ball up, and stick it in the net. (Gomez for example) Hernandez and Welbeck just simply aren't up to it.

It wouldn't be helpful to give up on our two young strikers already. This season has been one of transition if ever there was one and hopefully they will continue develop and gain important experience. CM replacement is more important IMO because Scholes can't play there every single game and Giggs just doesn't cut it for me as back-up. Anderson and Cleverley are injury prone, Fletcher may never return so we need someone like Modric (ahem) to partner Carrick urgently.

feel like getting aguero in this week.. even tho it costs me 90 mins in gw36

    option A

aguero vs nor wol and MUN
    sessegnon vs BOL

    option B

ade vs qpr BB and bol
    pienaar vs FUL and stk

4 games vs 5. dont see much in pienaar vs sessegnon even tho pienaar is playing twice

ade clearly has the better opponents.. but aguero definately has the better skill… theres no way to know really.. ade seems safe… aguero seems the gamble.. im pretty much answering my own question… but ideas appreciated

    Hi Guys!

    I got a green, now I am 51,388 overall.

    My team:

    Krul Vorm
    Turner Baines Vermaelen Evans Caulker
    Sess Siggy Valencia Walcott Bale
    RVP Rooney P.Cisse

Siggy has been dissapointing. Thinking of getting both HBA and Dempsey back for GW 35 for free for Sess and Siggy?

Would also like to get Adebayor, Pienaar and a DGW defender for GW 36?

What is your opinion? Cheers in advance

Sorry mate, didn't see it. What are your thoughts on my GW 36 plans? Should I make three transfers for that week I would have to do it for a 8 point hit.

Similar to mine. Will ease mine in, 35 & 36. Don't think Petrov is an option.

Thanks. Would like to play 3 defenders for GW 36: Baines, Caulker, ???

Who could be the third one? (would ditch Truner for him possibly or Verm if I don't have enough cash)

One week punt: Santos, McAuley, Turner, Zabaleta, or Rangel?

(it's a no-clones league, where these are the best available guys who play this weekend)

Asked my girlfriend who to chose between Sessegnon and Mclean and she chose the latter because "He would clean up!". Sound advice.

I'm shipping Bale this week, but don't know which of these 2 options I should go for:

    a.) Sess in for Bale

b.) Walcott in for Bale & Bendy in for Papiss (4 pt hit)

I'm thinking A, but really don't like the idea of getting Walcott in at a later date with WIG up next!?

    Which are we thinking people?

ok I thought I was all set for this wekk. Then I saw Sunderland's defensive record at home.

So start De Gea or Mingolet this week?

What's Sunderland's defensive record at home like if you don't mind be asking?

Both are good shouts for Clean sheets this week and Wolves are terrible at the minute but i would still go for De Gea..

Mingolet or Vorm, which is more likely to keep a clean sheet this week? i'm thinking Mingolet slightly. And i already have Caulker playing so by getting Mingolet i wouldn't have to double up on Swansea.

    Hi,

Was wondering if I could get some advise on the my team for Gameweek 34? A, B or C?:

    Vorm (Friedel)
    Vermaelen Evans Caulker (Kelly) (Simpson)
    Walcott Siggy McClean Valencia (Bale)
    RVP Rooney (Ba)

    A) I only have 10 for the gameweek, do you think this would be enough and I should save the transfer?

    B) Ba to Weimann?

    C) Kelly to Turner?

    Any thoughts appreciated!!

    Vorm (Schwarzer)
    McAuley Vermaelen J.Evans (Simpson Baines)
    Sigurdsson Valencia Walcott Surman (Dempsey)
    RvP Rooney (Cisse)
    0.1m

My plan is probably do nothing and use the three FTs in GW35/36 to get in Bale, BAE/Huth & Adebayor to make it 8 DGW players in GW36.

Sound sensible - or should I make sure I have 11 this GW and possibly take a 4pt hit to have 8 DGWs?

McClean > Sess, crabby and a waste of a transfer at this stage?

Not massively clued in with Sunderland matters, am I right in saying McClean's gone off the boil a bit recently? Might he be at risk of being benched?

Just think there are far less doubts with Sess, he could bring in huge points in 34+36.

What are your thoughts on my transfer plan.

For GW34: Skrtel and Dempsey to Vermaelen and Sess(C) (-4)
For GW35: Walcott and Jelavic to Dempsey(C) and Cisse (-4)
For GW36: Kompany and Rooney to Baines and Adebayor

Leaving this team for GW36. It doesn't have many doubles but the players who don't generally have a very good fixture:

    Vorm
    Verm, Baines, Williamson
    Valencia, Sigurdsson, Sessegnon, Dempsey
    Van Persie, Adebayor, Cisse

I think they all make sense.
Sess and Verm immediately make up the hit just by playing.
Dempsey and Cisse doesn't need explaining tbh
GW36 one might bite me on the arse but Baines has Wolves the week after
