This Gameweek has proven to be a big headache for the Scout Committee team, and with a limited pool of talent to choose from, we’ve had to dig deep to fish out three worthy “Differential” selections for you. We’ve ended up with an Austrian, a Spaniard and a Serb. Stop me if you’ve heard this one before…

Andreas Weimann

Aston Villa have arguably the toughest fixture of any of the teams playing this weekend with a trip to Old Trafford on the agenda but we’re thinking ahead here, boxing clever. While returns are likely to be limited on Sunday afternoon, Weimann should be considered as a worthy option – Villa’s double Gameweek 35 means they play three times when every other team plays just once or twice, introducing an interesting strategy for navigating the next three Gameweeks. The paradox of fielding a full XI this week is that you end up with less players with a double Gameweek 36, but by using players from Bolton and Aston Villa, you can boost the number of matches in Gameweek 35 and gain an extra fixture without taking a points hit.

Obviously this strategy only comes good if Weimann plays every game and in that respect, it’s a risky choice. All the signs stack up in the Austrian’s favour however; he managed his first 90 minute run out last time out and Alex Mcleish has been raving about him in the press following his wonder goal against Stoke. Villa look all but safe from relegation and have little left to play for and, considering his main rival in the side – Emile Heskey – is unlikely to earn a new contract in the summer, you’d have to bet on the youngster getting his chance over the remaining games.

Fixtures and rotation risks aside, Weimann looks a real prospect. That’s two goals in the last five Gameweeks now, which is already more than Heskey has managed all season. Priced at 5.0 he can fit any budget, and with less than 1000 owners at the time of writing, he is currently a proud member of the 0.0% club. With United likely to be jittery following the Wigan defeat, the young Austrian’s fearless approach may just trouble them.

Aleksandar Kolarov

While Weimann is a pick that could come good once the Gameweek has passed, Aleksandar Kolarov is the opposite – a potential one-hit wonder who could possibly pay off big this weekend for those willing to take the punt. The Serbian is notorious around these parts for letting us down when we throw his name into the ring, so this one comes with a health warning. Even so, if Roberto Mancini chooses to rotate Gael Clichy and hand Kolarov an outing at Carrow Road, the formbook says he’ll make an impact.

Kolarov has notched a goal and three assists in his last two league starts – admittedly they were home matches but, in a Gameweek where clean sheets could be a scarcity, Kolarov has attacking potential that few defenders can rival based on form over recent outings. With just 0.8% ownership, if you take temporary membership to the Kolorov fan club (Mark is still the chairman, secretary and treasurer) then it could pay dividends at a time when gambles could be the order of the day.

Mikel Arteta

While Theo Walcott hoovers up transfers, his Spanish team-mate has quietly and efficiently blinked on the radar of late thanks to some outstanding home form. Two goals in his last two Emirates encounters, with maximum bonus thrown in, bodes well for Arteta. He has also amassed his most impressive performances stats over the past four Gameweeks – our members can dip and see for themselves how he compares to the field right now. In a nutshell, then, Arteta is in his best form of the season, just in time for luckless Wigan to arrive in his backyard.

The smart money will be on Robin Van Persie and Theo Walcott to help themselves to further attacking returns but playmaker Arteta, with just 4.8% ownership, looks an ideal option for those seeking something a little different, with form to back it up.

It was advertised as a comedy drama, which I think it was. Less 'Extras', more 'Cemetry Junction'. Also it was a pilot episode, there'll be more if it's well received.

I was really impressed, especially with Gervais.

Villa have conceded more than 2 goals on only 3 occasions this season (Arsenal, City and Chelsea). United will probably win, but it's unlikely to be a goalfest.

No, probably not. Think back to Wigan last season when they finally got their shit together, they conceded more than 2 goals only once in their last 10 games.

In fact this season, they haven't conceded more than 2 since 31 January.

Suggestions for this team? I have 10 players for GW 34 with 1 transfer:

    Mignolet (Schwarzer)

    Verm, Evans, McAuley (Simpson, Skrtel)

    Walcott, Sigurdsson, Valencia, Surman (Dempsey)

    RVP, Rooney (Cisse)

The only DGW player I feel is worth getting rid of is maybe Skrtel. Thinking of saving the transfer as well, although 10 players with one being Surman is a little worrying…

ok i need to come up with a serious transfer plan

my head to head rival is 2 pts behind me going into our 2nd leg match in qtr finals

i have 8 players and he has 10 plus he did 1 transfer to field 11players(i assume), and i'm pretty sure i've worked out what his transfer is, he has my exact 8 players plus kompany, graham, and pretty sure he has bought vermalen

    so my team

    vorm (begovic)
    evans
    valencia mcclean walcott siggy
    rvp rooney
    (baines, enrique, bae, kelly, cisse)

what to do guys - i was thinking enrique to vermalen and cisse to bendy

so that would leave me having bentner to his kompany, graham + 2

i'd have to hope norwich score

Made this point in a previous thread (not realising that there was a new one at this time of night, thought it was quiet!!). But is anyone else glad that this GW 34 issue is finally over? I hate planning up to 6 weeks ahead and in trying to get a team out for this week, I have taken my eye off the ball short term with the likes of Dempsey and Cisse (and selling Krul). Glad to get back to normal or as normal as you can be with DGW's coming up, which in my experience usually disappoint.

I agree on most points however this period has actually been my best spell of the season by far. After a horrid start the last 8 weeks I've risen from 250k to 40k currently. I was really close to ditching Dempsey which I would have never even thought of without those DGW's so I definitely see your point

Yes, the blanks affected my decisions and I made a mess of a couple of weeks as a result. Much happier after an 8 point hit Monday morning which paid off immediately and has given me 11 for this week in 3-4-3 with 2FT for next week.

Now for tomorrow to go horribly wrong...

Do you think it's worthy to do Sorensen -> Mignolet for a -4 hit as my other GK is Krul? There are rumours that Mignolet could be dropped for Gordon at some point but actually I'd play Krul over him for the rest of the season as Newcastle's goalie has STO, double gw, MCI, eve as the magpies have something to play for and Sunderland have avl, BOL, ful, MUN. Other factor is that Mignolet's price is going to rise and Sorensen's one is going to drop soon but if I don't use Mignolet anymore I'm gonna lose 0.3 for the transfers in the next few gameweeks.

errrrr that is tough. For some reason i think Wolves will get something tomorrow but logic (or the bookies at least) says Sunderland are more likely to keep a cleanie.
