In this latest article for members, we focus on the midfield area for the problematic Gameweek 34. With several contenders vying for our attention and cherished free transfer, we examine the recent form of four of the top attractions on offer – Stephane Sessegnon, James McClean, Theo Walcott and Gylfi Sigurdsson – using our own ICT Fantasy Index and the data from Opta.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      RVP.

People saying that Rooney will score big and Man Utd will demolish Villa because of losing to Wigan, but in the 3 games post-defeats this season Rooney hasn't scored and has just 10 points.

By the way this season gone so far.. Knee jerk + Current Form focus have effectively delivered better results (not for me but my observation) than Forward Planning. So, by this trend, should fielding 11 in gw34 be higher priority to the future games to come?

Ones who got rid of Dempsey before his away, tough, and blank GWs.. What do you think?

There's no need to have 11 if it's only a defender you're missing. If you've 6 mid/att with potential to score big, that's the priority.

I'd prefer to save a transfer if I could as it'll be crucial because of the DGWs and the huge influence winning or losing the FA cup semi could have as far as rotation prior to the cup final is concerned.

Yes, definitely agree for the case of missing DF/GK.. No need to fix that.

Anyway, I still think it's better to field 7 attacking players. Many people seem to save Bale, Demp, and Cisse for DGW and able to field just six.

wouldn't buy into home and away form too much, dempsey blew it to pieces a couple of weeks ago, city need goals, are against norwich and aguero is the main man. if you can afford him definitely go for him over Odem IMO.

I still have Suarez. Is it worth taking a hit at some point to get him out before gw36?

My proposed transfers after this GW but before gw36 are:

    Valencia to Dempsey/Mata
    Rooney to Adebayor
    Suarez to Cisse

That would leave me with 6 dgw players.

(My reply was to Harris, who said that it's pointless to replace a DGW player with another, which I think is a daft thing to say, as if all DGW players will score the same).

Me, I'm taking a hit or two to get 6 DGW players. Similar to yours, though I already have Cisse. I'm waiting until GW36 for Spurs players because they need to prove themselves against QPR to deserve a spot, even if their fixtures are great. But a lot of my plans are very contingent on FA Cup Finalists so I'll decide a lot on Sunday night.

Is my maths right on this?

I currently have 10 players and 3 FT to use from now to GW36.
So, between the two rounds (ignoring GW35) I have:

    (if I don't have 11 in GW34)
    GW34 GW36
    10 + (5+3)*2+3 = 29 games

(if I trade to get 11 in GW34)
    GW34 GW36
    11 + (4+2)*2+5 = 28 games

(Obviously I can take hit(s) to improve the number of games in GW36)

A 4 point hit this week is effectively, only a two point hit - The logic in this is, If you get a midfielder in i.e. Siggy, you would expect him to get at least two points even if he does sod-all, which you would not of had if you had only played with 10. (thus only two points lost) I am definately taking a 4(2) point hit for this reason. It may be worthwhile looking at a player who is good for the next gameweek to see the full benefit.

    Hmm. Another potential DGW team:

    Begovic(D)
    Caulker Vermaelen Simpson(D)
    Bale(D) Mata(D) Dempsey(D) Valencia
    Adebayor(D) Cisse(D) RVP

    Bench: Vorm, McClean, Turner, Evans

Probably useless to plan cos everything changes...but meh 🙂

I'd do it but I'd get Sagna instead of Lescott.

Sess might be more of a differential plus he's against the worst defence in the league.

I'd say get Verm too, good to keep till the end and attacking potential.

Kaboul > Collins this week, McClean > Petrov next week

    or

Adebayor > Agbonlahor/Wiemann this week, McClean > Petrov next week

    Using my WC GW36.

    Any advice?

Hmmmmm. Changed my mind again. I've been thinking of sess - bale then back again as an 8 pt hit as I already have plans for my free transfers up to GW36. But now i'm thinking i might be looking at it wrong. I can do Bale - Sess for free this week. Then when it gets to GW36, I can assess any potential hit on there individual merits. Or not! Aaarrrgggghhhh!! This is doing my head in!!

I was going with 10 this week but I'm now only 6 points off the lead in my main league so...

With Bale sinking like a stone I've gone Bale > McClean.

I now have 11 players and every single one of them is at home - a Fantasy Football first for me!

    Caulker McAuley Evans

Worth me transferring out the injured Morrison this week (max £9.3m) or save the transfer until next week?

I'd be saving in and getting Dempsey next week ... those other 4 are good enough to score for 5 players this week I reckon.

Vermaelen is one of the standout defenders this week with a track record of mega hauls against Wigan.

With Oshea coming back there is a small question mark over the Sunderland defence, Turner could make way. He probably won't but even if he was the Jesus Christ superstar of nailed on he doesn't even come close to the steely glared goal machine that is the Verminator.

Sess plays striker in absence of Bendtner and just behind him if he plays while McClean plays on the wing Just like VDV and Bale

Right...I've got a 27 point lead in my ML.

    My GW34 team is:

    Vorm
    Turner Caulker Vermaelen Jones
    Siggy Valencia McClean Walcott
    RVP Rooney

Guy below me in ML only has 7 available but 2FT. Max he can get is 9 without a hit. I suspect he'll do Gerrard to either Sess or Walcott...question is, do I do Bale > Sess as well? Would cost me a hit but cover me.

I highly suspect I shouldn't...but then again it is Wolves.
