In this latest article for members, we focus on the midfield area for the problematic Gameweek 34. With several contenders vying for our attention and cherished free transfer, we examine the recent form of four of the top attractions on offer – Stephane Sessegnon, James McClean, Theo Walcott and Gylfi Sigurdsson – using our own ICT Fantasy Index and the data from Opta.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Is anyone around here playing You Know the Score?

If so, is there any way to check your rank for a particular gameweek? All I can see is a monthly and general ranking.

O'Shea back 2moro and a Sunderland forum came to the conclusion that Kilgallon will stay in the team with Turner making way. Only speculation but I wouldn't buy after hearing that.

Obviously been a lot of talk about the blanks this game week, and how many dgw has everyone got for 36 but...

    What about 35?

Has anyone ever tested out different FPL strategies in parallel? I’m thinking along the lines of 3 teams which start with the same squad but then make transfers through the season based on different strategies. One could jump on every bandwagon, ignoring fixtures. Another could choose players based on teams with good fixtures. Maybe a third that’s only interested in maximising its team value.

Has this be done before? Any other strategies worth looking at?

I was wondering this earlier - another strategy could be to base it purely on ICT scores and ignore real life see if that stats lie or not.

Doesn't work that well. Unless you are really disciplined I guess. "Mrs China Mag" had a team that was meant to be for punts, that I wouldn't have the balls to pick. But that went out of the window when she started beating me, so I had to play serious with her team too as she had a better chance of winning! I'm only a few points behind her now, but we are going to go into tomorrow with 9 of the same players!! And somehow it was my team, not her team that ended up bringing in torres TWICE. Still not sure how that happened!

Mr Mac has a team based on names she likes. I also use it to indulge in punts providing they have a suitable name for her selection. Unfortunately she doesn't like the name Van Persie, Bale, Dempsey, Rooney or Silva so it's gone less well than it could have.

I want to take out either Bale or Dempsey this week (to allow me to field 10) can't decide what one? - want to take a punt on whoever I bring in to replace them with also, at the moment I'm thinking Dempsey out for Nasri - sound good?

I've 2 free trades so may as well use one, its also crossed my mind to flog Bale and bring VDV back in for the DGW instead of him, more of a differential! I'm 51pts clear in my mini league so feel happy to take a slight gamble.

Possibly? depends how they play the game in-between the DGW, I'm more likely to bring Bale back in as I want 3 spuds for the double. I think your right about Bales form also, ..so he'll be out.

    who to captain??!
rvp v rooney - arsenal are a team in form but i'd rate wigan as twice the team villa are at the moment. even liverpool created numerous chances against them. i think it will be a tight game.
also, rvp has played 180 mins since last sunday..rooney got a small "rest" during the week that could either dent his confidence or make him more eager to destroy a weak villa side...

RVP is the safe option I guess. People are saying United will come out firing after the Wigan defeat, but they often respond to a setback by grinding out a couple of 1-0 wins.

Also, I don't know if anyone thinks the same, but after 2 really tough games against Chelsea and United, Wigan could tire, especially if Arsenal make them chase the ball for the majority of the game.

Interesting that McClean and Sess are pretty much like for like over the last few GWs. Currently I have 9 GW34ers and was thinking about going for Sess, but given my rival has him, I am thinking about McClean as a differential, as the extra 2.5m will really come in hand with the DGW coming up - what do you reckon?

Not a lot between them, but it's interesting that McClean seems to play better when Sess is in the side.

I have McClean, so will stick with him until at least GW37.

Deffo agree with this- I have McClean and haven't even thought about Sess. They are both attack minded and I reckon they'll score similarly. Some games McClean has stolen all of Sess' thunder, and I'm hoping this is the case vs. Wolves. Regardless, I bet they both return something vs Wolves

Even if he is, why does it matter? Villa are one of the worst teams in the league currently...last year McLeish's Birmingham had the same number of points that Villa have at this stage. They can't score...McLeish's teams never can

Being a Villa player is off-putting but he has 2 goals in his last 240 minutes of football. Could be good for GW35 if he starts both games.

Yeah just playing it safe and keeping things ticking over. Wigan are in great form but the Emirates is such a big pitch and I can see Arsenal stretching them at the back. While I see Moses and Maloney causing them some problems I don't see Caldwell in a back 3 keeping RVP quiet. 2 goals for RVP imo.

Had him as captain earlier today but bitched out and went RVP. Need some reassuring words and convincing to change it back. I mean Sess hasn't returned more than 1 goal in any game this season. Whereas RVP last time against Wigan got like a goal and 2 assists. Its tricky 🙁

Meh rank doesn't bother me too bad since its my first time really doing the FPL. Its my main ML that I'm chasing which matters more. Few of them are dead teams that captain RVP every week so could go wrong if I captain Sess over RVP

I just think Wigan are in form and Wolves are shambolic, that is the only basis for my choice. I know Sess isn't as prolific I just think that Wigan will be on a high after mid-week.

Getting rid of Bale are we?!?!? Personally I am keeping him, especially with his DGW.

Personally I like the later 2 transfers but I am guessing you need to get rid of Bale to fund the other transfers.

Everyone is going to regret selling Bale. I picked him up at the very beginning of the season as his displays were good but his returns were not. He soon kicked it on and began scoring. The same phenomenon has been happening lately, where he is playing well but not scoring in FPL. I am telling you, he is going to have a crazy DGW

I hope you think so next season - we've already started work on a new members area, with emphasis on the stats and their presentation. We're hoping to have something a bit more "special" with more data available for those who like to tinker, compare players and analyse data with far more "toys" we can add to articles.

i have 9 players playing tomorrow. Do you people think its worth using my transfer to put in an extra player and even deduct 4 points to have 11 players or shall i bank the transfer for 2 transfers in gameweek 36...
    My team
    vorm
    Jevans, caulker, sagna
    valencia, mcclean, sigurdson
    Rooney, RVP

Bench: bale, dempsey, kelly, simpson, cisse.

I am thinking to get rid of kelly for a sunderland defender as fulham have hard games in gw36..
also thinking to get rid of bale whos been on bad form for silva but dont know because bale has favourable fixtures to come up.. what do you people suggest
