With their city rivals making a statement at Carrow Road yesterday, the Sunday Dugout Discussion opens to see if league leaders Manchester United can hold their nerve and restore a five point lead at home to Aston Villa. It’s the only Premier League game taking place today, and the team news for the encounter is in…

Man United XI: De Gea, Rafael, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra, Valencia, Carrick, Scholes, Young, Welbeck, Rooney.

Villa XI: Given, Hutton, Collins, Baker, Lichaj, Bannan, Ireland, Clark, Gardner, Weimann, Agbonlahor.

As expected, Sir Alex Ferguson restores Paul Scholes to his starting line-up in place of Ryan Giggs. There’s also recalls for Rafael and Danny Welbeck, with Phil Jones and Javier Hernandez dropping to the bench.

Alex McCleish is without the injured duo of Stephen Warnock and Chris Herd, so there are starts for both Gary Gardner and Ciaran Clark.

The Dugout Discussion chatroom can be accessed right here, and will remain open the duration of today’s football, including the FA Cup tie between Tottenham and Chelsea.

I thought it was a pen, but he didn't half throw himself over. Trouble is, sometimes if you don't fall over, you don't get the penalty you deserve. It ruins the game.

Regarding the peno, unlike QPR this was a foul in the box. Doesn't mean that Young didn't make a meal of it, which he very clearly did. But either way, a foul in the box is a penalty. Doesn't mean I'm happy with Young's acting, I think that is terrible form, especially against his former club. It won't make me say that it wasn't a penalty either though, because it was.

That's a completely fair point and I wouldn't take that away from anyone. But it starts this whole thing of United "buying" all their success and "intimidating" every official to get their way which I do get very tired of. I think United have worked very hard this season to get where they are and things like that really do get on my nerves, Young is to blame too for his acting, I don't like the little bugger and never have.

Because he's a football player who knows that any foul in the box will get him a penalty. Late challenge that clipped his ankle in the box which is deemed as a foul no matter what way you choose to look at it. Doesn't mean I condone the acting, which I've already said I didn't like but it was still a foul.

So then why aren't penalties awarded at every corner kick? There is always contact and shirt pulling. Are these 'deemed as a foul'? Of course not, nor is falling over just because you are touched. The touch/contact must surely be enough to knock you over?

Off the ball incidents, when a player gets the ball after a corner and is pulled down or dragged down it is deemed a foul and can often lead to a penalty. No, the rule is late contact on a tackle is a foul, I don't make the rules but that's one of them. I'd be all in favour of it being enough to knock you over but then you'll see a greater level of diving since players will want to make it look like they are being fouled.

Villa lad has clipped his ankle if you view the ground camera. I can't say I agree with how he acts or anything like that because I don't but a foul is a foul. That's just what I reckon, plenty of others won't agree and that's fair enough, I'm well used to defending United in these cases (and Barcelona)
