Mikel Arteta is out for the season with an ankle injury. Anderson and Paul Pogba won’t feature for United again this term, either. Yakubu and Junior Hoilett return to training for Blackburn, Harry Redknapp is sweating on the fitness of “four or five” players, while Brendan Rodgers hopes to give some of Swansea’s fringe players a run out before the campaign is over.

Mikel Arteta has been ruled out for the season with an ankle injury. Arsene Wenger revealed earlier today that the midfielder will not feature again after sustaining the problem early on in last Monday’s home defeat by Wigan, going on to say:

It is season over for him but he doesn’t need surgery, which is what we were scared of. So he will be out for six to eight weeks. It is an ankle problem but just a sprain.

The Gunners boss also revealed Abou Diaby will return to the squad, after taking part in a friendly on Wednesday evening. Francis Coquelin is back in full training after picking up a hamstring problem but will remain sidelined as he builds up his fitness.

Sir Alex Ferguson has ruled out both Anderson and Paul Pogba for the remainder of United’s campaign this morning. The former has failed to recover from a hamstring injury, while Pogba sustained an ankle injury in a reserve game earlier in the week and will miss his side’s title run-in.

Reports suggest Leighton Baines is expected to return to the Everton starting XI before the season is out. The left-back has been ruled out of this weekend’s trip to United but according to the Mail, he will be back in time for the final game of the season against Newcastle. The club have only confirmed he will be missing for tomorrow, though with doubts still hanging over his availability for next week’s double Gameweek against Fulham and Stoke, many plans are currently up in the air.

Blackburn pair Yakubu and Junior Hoilett returned to training yesterday as the pair look set to win their fitness race ahead of the visit of Norwich. Both were subbed off in last week’s 3-0 defeat at Swansea and were doubts with knee and hamstring problems respectively, but reports indicate they are on course for tomorrow’s crucial showdown with the Canaries, as Steve Kean looks to grab a vital three points as his side battle relegation. Gael Givet trained with the squad this week after being left out at the Liberty, with Kean suggesting he “wasn’t in the right frame of mind” to take part. With Grant Hanley likely to be out with an ankle injury, Givet looks set to come back into the first-team fold.

Brendan Rodgers has suggested he is set to hand a few of his fringe players some game time over the remaining four matches of the season. The Swansea boss has revealed he is looking to freshen things up, though with the Welsh club not yet mathematically safe, his tinkering may be set aside for another week – victory at Bolton tomorrow would ensure their survival, though. Intriguingly, reports also suggest that Rodgers is looking at a new 3-4-3 system for next season.

Alan Pardew has revealed he has no qualms with fielding Rob Elliot in tomorrow’s home clash with Stoke. The keeper is on standby to start after Tim Krul picked up a back problem in training and, with the Magpies conceding just a single goal in the last five Gameweeks, their manager is confident of Elliot’s ability to step up, should Krul prove to be unavailable.

I’m not concerned about Tim. Robbie Elliot will play if he doesn’t play – I wouldn’t blink about putting him in. He’s been brilliant at the training ground with all the extra work he’s done with our strikers and everybody else. He deserves to be in goal.

Harry Redknapp was somewhat cryptic in this morning’s press conference. The Spurs boss revealed he is waiting on the fitness of as many as “four or five” players ahead of the trip to QPR. Younes Kaboul and Niko Krancjar are definitely out for the London outfit, though; the duo have failed to recover from knee problems in time for the visit to Loftus Road.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

For a hit maybe not, they will need two clean sheets just for u to get an extra 8 points.. This might potentially cost u one transfer for gw 36 which is another 4 points

JackBauer: In answer to your question on the previous article, last season was my first full season using FFS (found out about it towards the end of the 2009/2010 season). I know, sounds like something a lurker would come off with but it is 100% the truth.

Here it is ...tracked it down...agree, great advice....I'm convinced

      H.Arfa La Vista says:

      Just on the RVP/Rooney -> Tevez/Aguero debate:
The way I look at it is: to transfer one in this week and out next week is essentially costing you 2 transfers which I consider as being 8 pts (particulary with the desire to do extra transfers for GW36). Assume Rooney or RVP get a below average score of 5 points, that means they need to score 13 (i.e. 2 goals) just to break even. No point in doing a transfer just to break even, you really want a gain of at least 4 points so that’s either a hatrick or 2 goals and 2 assists which is unlikely even v Wolves.
If you’re transferring them in for the remainder of the season then their next 2 games after Wolves are Man Utd(h) and Newcastle(a), two of the worst fixtures around.
RVP meanwhile has Norwich(h) in GW37, a nice fixture to have now that Norwich are safe.
Rooney has Swansea(h) in GW37 which could well be a title decider and Swansea are likely to have a few fringe players playing according to Rodgers, especially in defense.

Note with that, it would only cost 2 transfers if you were to transfer Rooney/RVP back in.

I say for example, if I were to do Rooney -> Aguero this week, I would do Aguero -> Adebayor next week. However I already plan to do Rooney -> Adebayor next week and so it's only 1 extra transfer in this situation.

          +1. I don't agree with the 8 points assumption.

The quesiton of captaincy is also completely ignored. I wouldn’t want to captain either Rooney or RVP this week, and if Tevez / Aguero gets a brace then that’s in all likelihood 24 – 26 points. Suddenly a 4 point hit doesn’t seem such a big deal.

The H.Arfa La Vista analysis is attractive prima facie but it excludes the following variables which, I believe, should have a bearing on its conclusion.

          1. It does not consider what good alternative transfers you can make this week.

[Assuming you kept your front line of RVP, Rooney and Cisse then lets examine what transfers you could make assuming your midfield was Val, Walc, Sig, Bale, McC/Sess:

One would have wanted to do Val to Demp but now Wigan is playing as well and Valencia is not up against Baines for his Eve fixture. Valencia is therefore staying.

You might say well then do Walcott to Demp? but Walcott against a tired Chelsea back four could hold huge returns. Walcott stays (and it is for this reason that RVP stays in the frontline too)

Siggy and Bale are untouchable for obvious reasons.]

          2. The analysis does not take into consideration that the city striker would be captained.

          3. The analysis does not consider that (using Rooney as the example) Rooney would be shipped out for Ade anyway next week. therefore the net effect is it is not 2 transfers but only 1.

It is for the above 3 reasons that the analyses is flawed its application for the majority of teams playing the game.

The real question should actually be - Tevez or Kun? This is the real conundrum...

But if you are doing Rooney/RVP to a DGW player next week for a hit anyway (like the ALOT of people on this site seem to be planning) then you only need to factor in a single 4pt hit.

The theory still stands then, but to a lesser extent.

Repost from a previous article in case anyone cares to read it.....

So…crazy to captain Rooney? In every home game this season he has started and played more than 60 minutes (13 out of 16), he has only got a score of 2 in 1 of them (the defeat to Man City). In all the rest he has managed at least a goal or an assist (with the exception of Sunderland where he still got 2 BPs).

If people have Tevez/Aguero then fair enough (even though the 6 goal ‘demolition’ of Norwich really flattered to deceive IMO), but other than those 2, there are no other outstanding options for captaincy.

Cisse looks good value but how long will his goalscoring form last and then we have Dempsey who, although is in good form, is playing for a team playing for nothing against a very in-form side who are actually playing for premiership survival.

So…are people crazy to be transferring Rooney out like mad? I think he might be one of the best captain choices for this GW.

Rooney may be a 'safe choice' this week but it is getting towards the end of the season and it is time to take risks. The reward of getting Tevez/Aguero outways the risk of getting rid of Rooney imo

As I had said in the other post, it just depends if you're leading or chasing. I don't see the reward of getting Tevez/Aguero because it focuses on too many things:

        a) wasting a transfer which could be used on a DGW player
        b) assuming that City will thrash Wolves (score really flattered them against Norwich since it was actually a tight game for the first 60 minutes)
        c) getting the right player out of those 2
        d) that player not getting subbed off at half-time/60 mins if they are winning 3-0 because of the derby the following week.

          a) Who know the DGW could be a damp squid with rotation, injuries etc. I would rather the points in the bank rather than relying on the DGW

          b) There is a good chance of them running riot especially with Wolves having a back-up keeper

          c) Good point. 50/50 call

          d) By half time the damage could be done and in Tevez's case Mancini would want him to play longer to get more match fitness

Yep - i think siralex has wisely tempered him and kept him on a leash with the 70min appearances - they are figuring out how to manage his form.

Other option is Valencia as with baines out he will go beserk down the right,

transfer out walcott for dempsey this week

i think walcott at home vs a potentially tired/depleted chelsea backline could easily outscore dempsey at home vs a wigan side that's on fire. but then, i'm going to make that transfer for the dgw regardless, so i'm not sure whether or not i should address kaboul's injury first, or hope he recovers in time.

I think its really hard to call on the Ars v Che game. On the one hand, Chelsea are in fine form, on the other hand they will be likely rotaion plus tired players. It's a big game for both sides regarding league position and a London derby.

It could sway either way TBH but I expect goals from both sides. I don't think you will profit much from the transfer this week (factoring in your 4pt hit) but if you plan on getting Dempsey in anyway then I would probabaly use this game to do it.

Any other options than Walcott? Id rather keep Walcott for the run in than Valencia.

Hmmmm hard call. With WBA's poor form recently Liverpool might acutally, get lucky and get a clean sheet.

I think the odds are slim for Arsenal to shut Chelsea out (then again I think Drogba would be a massive threat to Arenal but IMO will be rested) but Verm has proved time and time again he has a goal or two in him.

Its tough but id play Vermaelen as Liverpool just really do look that bad.

Again I think the same answer applies, although Newcastle are in better shape than Liverpool IMO they have a similar chance of a clean sheet this week.

Its a hard decision but id sway to Vermaelen for the reasons posted above, but bear in mind that I only expect him to score well from atatcking points more than defensively and Newcastle do have a good chance of a clean sheet so you may get a 1-2 pointer from Verm and have Six-Point-Simpson on your bench.

My thoughts exactly. Hard to call.

Yep would be doing for the double anyway (for a hit), so seems worth it to do it for Dempsey's game this week.

Walcott is the only option this week. I've sold Rooney so want to keep Valencia for the run in. I could downgrade Kompany and upgrade Sess to Demps, but that would mean benching Bale or Siggy this week.

Ok. Well if your taking a hit for Dempsey next week anyway then that shouldn't be a factor. So really your choice is who would you rather play, Walcott or Dempsey?

Id likely lean towards Dempsey as although Wigan are in great shape at the minute they are still likely to concede even if they have a good game. Both Walcott and Dempsey are in form at the minute but more play goes through Dempsey than Walcott, so id say Captain America slightly edges it.

Maybe look to do Sess to Walcott for GW37 if you can.

Sound logic, Dempsey does seem like the better play for this week.

Will hopefully have some cash knocking around after the double to get Walcott back, as my original plan was to get Baines and that's now likely to be Huth/Cahill etc.

Huth's a great goal threat but even with two home fixtures id check Stoke's recent results fi you are hoping for clean sheet points. Cahill has a big rish of rotation IMO but I think making a decision on the Chelsea defence will all become clearer this time next week after the Barca game and we will know more on wether Cahill is worth a punt.

I think this could be a possible line-up

            Cech
            Bosingwa / Cahil / Terry / A.Cole
            Mikel / Essien
            Sturridge / Mata / Kalou
            Torres

TBH it's really hard to try and decide who will play. There's two condierations to the above team, 1. will RDM want to re-inforce the left flank to help defend against Walcott 2. what condition are the midfielders who player midweek in as with all the hard work and running around they had against Barca they will need to be fresh to to it 5 times as much at the Nou Camp. This makes me feel there is a stong possibility of rest for Lampard/Ramires/Meireles and possibly Mata, but then again Mata may not start in the return leg as they look to shut Barca out.

The whole world needs to open their eyes,
and realise we are not perfect.

At least its easy to copy the lyrics down.

          "Just kidding were perfect"

I am a forgiving person, and was willing to let their retardness slide, till they finished with that unforgivable line.

Behind by 50 points. I'm thinking of doing RVP - Tevez and Rooney - Cisse as rival has RVP and Roo. Would be for a hit then was also thinking mid out for Petrov so would be looking at 8 point hit.

Does this sound like a plan or daft to do an 8 pointer?

    Don't know what's best.

I was thinking of the exact same moves. I did Rooney to Cisse two days ago and have decided against the Petrov move. Now I'm really thinking of getting in Aguero or Tevez for RVP.
I think if you are ahead in a mini league then there is no point taking the risks as both RVP and Rooney could deliver returns. But if you are chasing like me then this is your last chance to make up some points on my rivals.

If your leading its hardly a major risk. Decent goalscorer out for another with say a 4 point hit and ageuro and tevez are clearly finishing the seaon well.

Current line up for this week. I decided to throw caution to the wind and back the Citeh duo. Any thoughts on my midfield and subs order? I think it's looking alright to be fair!

    Krul
    Sagna/Caulker/Jevans
    Walcott/Siggy/Dempsey/HBA
    Kun/Tevez(c)/Cisse

    Sorenson/Valencia/Taiwo/Baines

    Cheers

Thanks for that. I reckon this is an 80 pointer this week!

That usually means I get 39!

I'd prefer the look more of a Suarez > Cisse transfer and leave it at that.

How about Nasri > Dempsey + Suarez > Cisse.

      Can you do that?
