With just four Gameweeks left of the season, Fantasy managers are looking at every viable option available as a means to climb up the rankings and win that crucial mini-league title. Many will be throwing caution to the wind at this point in order to claw back their rivals’ leads and, with plenty of double Gameweeks on the horizon, even Aston Villa’s assets are coming under scrutiny.

Let’s face it – the midlands outfit have hardly been the most potent of Fantasy sides this term. The fact that Gabby Agbonlahor is still their top scoring player despite returning a single assist since Gameweek 11 speaks volumes for their insipid season. As the likes of Wigan have recently shown, however, there’s potential near the bottom of the table as teams scrap for survival and, with two home clashes in Gameweek 35, Villa are blinking – albeit briefly – on Fantasy managers’ radars ahead of the weekend’s schedule.

The hunt for options amongst the midlands squad leads us to James Collins. A look at his recent home performances highlights the fact that the Villa centre-half has returned at least six points in two of his last three at Villa Park – a clean sheet against Fulham and a goal against Chelsea. While Villa may have shipped four at United last weekend, they’ll be more optimistic heading into their games against Sunderland and Bolton – Martin O’Neill’s side have failed to score in their last three, while Bolton have been almost as poor in attack, with no goals in their previous two matches.

So far this week, over 10,000 Fantasy managers have taken a punt on the 5.3 priced defender, an indication of the faith held in his potential. Collins’ game also seems suited to the EA SPORTS PPI scoring system; he’s picked up a total of 12 bonus points over the course of the campaign – only six defenders have earned more this term.

With regular sidekick Richard Dunne still out with a collarbone injury, Collins’ resilience and will-to-win in the heart of the Villains backline will be key over these next crucial two matches. McLeish will be more than aware that back-to-back victories would all but clinch their survival and somewhat endear him to the home faithful, thus relieving the pressure ahead of their remaining three fixtures (wba, TOT, nor).

No love for Suarez as a captaincy option this gw? Not even on the poll. When I first logged on for the week I set him as captain as he looked the best option... May revert to Rooney but I think Suarez could do well

    Team for this week….

    Bogdan (Vorm)
    Evans, Kompany, Kelly (Santon, Turner)
    Barfa, Valencia, Walcott, Dempsey (Siggy)
    Tevez©,RVP, Cisse

Not sure i should leave Siggy on the bench… and not certain i’ve got the defence right… anybody care to run their expert eye over my team & tell me what i might have missed?

I would fancy Santon over Kelly in defense. Wigan have scored in their last 7 away games. Newcastle have 3 home clean sheets in a row. Santon has played 90 min in the last two.

hello all - tough week ahead, at least i'm finding it so!
would like to get a poll on the below 2 options for Man City Holy Trinity

I currently have Aguero, Silva and Lescott and looking to get rid of one for Tevez

    Would you rather have:
    1) Aguero, Tevez, Silva + double gameweek defender for gw 36 (also means i need to play 4 defenders on gw 36 since i have 4 dgws defenders)

    2) Aguero, Tevez, Lescott + double gameweek mid (say Ben Arfa)

Thoughts would be very much appreciated - i'm in a pickle at the moment - keep changing my mind by the hour!

So hypothetically 😉 , if you had a wildcard burning a hole in your pocket and it was just a one week punt you'd go Rooney -> Aguero/Tevez? Which one is the real dilemma for me I think...

So many captain choices this week, I think Clint has to be serious contender. But a City captain is so hard to look past...

Here is an interesting question, how do you guys analyse your season?

I am looking at my lowest end rank position for 4 years, and it gets me thinking as to why? Bad luck? Poor choices? Probably a bit of both, but I wondered if any of you look back at your history and attempt to identify your bad/good choices. Perhaps this season was a bit jarring due to the changes in the game, bonus points being the major one.

Looking at my history, I think I got off on the wrong foot. There were too many fringe players for the starting of the season where what I needed was reliability. I should have kept faith in most of my team (Silva springs to mind) given the GW2 'Wildcard' situation but the temptation was too much.

No seriously, I think you made too many mistakes..
        1. Benayoun -- Did you ever think he was going to be starting?
        2. Lack of United cover -- Being a Liverpool fan, it hurt to get Utd players in, but I got two in (Jones and Roo) and went Rooney (C) for five weeks at a stretch.
3.Arteta, Ramires, Yaya -- surely you must have known that they aren't exactly goldmine material when you picked them?

I know what I did wrong.

Listened to the kneejerks on here. At the start of the season I made many mistakes because I didnt know who to listen to. Second half of the season I still made mistakes, but nothing out of the usual for me.

I think you may have taken a few too many hits. Not a ludicrous amount, but that may indicate you perhaps that you are right and could have been more patient with some players.

I honestly believe that if you can keep hits to below ten, keep an eye on injury news and build up team value in the first half of the season you should do fine.

Have a good spread of value in def.mid.attack also helps at the start...

      something like
      10m gk
      24m def
      29m mid
27 attack ...did me proud....that means if say you start with Rooney and he's bad, you can easily swap to RVP, if he;s on fire.

Last season I started with Lamps and Rooney...they were poor at the very start. while Drog and Malouda were on fire...I swapped both for a rare hit n gwk 2, captained one and season was back on track. I could do this easily as I made sure I had a big gun in mid and big gin in attack.
