So much for the theory that stability is the foundation of success. While many were up in arms over the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas, with the Portuguese manager granted a mere eight months of the 2011/12 season before his services were deemed surplus to requirement, the chopping and changing seems to have worked at Stamford Bridge.

Roberto Di Matteo has made an immediate impact since settling in as interim manager earlier last month. Guiding the Blues to the FA Cup Final and upsetting the odds with a Nou Camp draw last Tuesday, the Italian is now afforded the chance of two lots of silverware, boosting his chances of landing the job on a permanent basis. With a couple of home ties against QPR and Newcastle this Gameweek, many Fantasy managers are eying up Chelsea’s Fantasy assets but, with rest and rotation set to kick in, picking the right choice is proving to be a tricky task.

Step forward Fernando Torres. A look at Di Matteo’s recent selection policy suggests it’s Didier Drogba who is likely to be tasked with leading the line in the cup competitions and, with three starts in the last four Gameweeks, the Spaniard looks more inclined to be handed game time in the league. Priced at 9.8 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Torres has returned a respectable 5.25 points per game over the last four matches, with a goal, three assists and a bonus point accrued.

Although QPR have upset the form book with wins over the likes of Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool in recent weeks, all these results have come at Loftus Road – Mark Hughes’ outfit have lost their last six on the road, in comparison. While Newcastle’s defence have been returning the points with a recent regularity, it’s worth noting that most of their clean sheets have come at the Sports Direct Arena – they’ve kept out their opponents only twice in the last seven road trips.

Let’s be honest – El Nino has hardly set the league alight since moving to the Bridge but, as his equaliser at Barcelona highlighted, he’s still more than capable of finding the net and seems to have increased in confidence under Di Matteo’s guidance. It’s a risk, clearly – there’s every chance he could fail to fire and you could be left kicking yourself for snapping up his services – but, with an ownership of just 2.9% and games against Liverpool and Blackburn to see out the season, it’s one that could reap reward for those Fantasy managers scouring the market for a mini-league gamble.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Captaincy is a big decision this week then. Delved into a few stats over the last 6 GWs to try and help pick one…this sway you towards/away from any of these 4?

        His shots on target to goals ratio is ridiculous.

        Will be unpopular on here, but he's currently 4th choice for me.

          I am currently on Jelavic for my captain, purely because he is in form and has nice enough fixtures. I just can't trust Spurs enough to hand it to one of them, even though I think this could well be the time for them to rediscover their winning form. But there again I am leading my mini league, there is less need for me to take risks.

            his stats are scary, think its like a goal every 68 minutes, and 67% of his shots on target have gone in.

            it has to end sometime though

            i'm going for Bale, he's going to EXPLODE!!!

      interesting Bale stats, havent been watching him play just been seeing his awful points, but 17 shots with 0 goals is terrible and only 5 on target.... lets hope he improves his accuracy and he might rip this gameweek up. decent key passes too....

      i have jelly and cisse (c) and bale, not keen on VDV, far too inconsistent

        Yeah I have all 4. I think you can make an argument for all 4 of them, but I'm swaying away from P Cisse - he's only hit the target 9 times and he's now up against Cech and Al Habsi (decent stoppers).

        Still undecided, but at the moment I'm Jelavic (c), VDV (vc). Subject to change before the deadline though!

        Yeah, I think both Bale and VDV are great shouts this week. I'm actually swaying away from Cisse for the armband as he doesn't rain in that many shots and he's up against 2 good stoppers this week in Cech and Al Habsi. 3 sided coin required for me between the others....currently Jelly(c) VDV(v), but Bale is very very tempting. Last minute decision I think!

        The only thing im thinking with Bale is, according to the above stats Bale is averaging 3.4 shots on goal per game, but only 1 shot on target and 2.4 off target. That's a massive dent in PPI and therefore chances of bonus is it not?

          Yeah it's a really tough one. I think i'll stay as it is. The thing that tempts me with VDV is the amount of key passes he has and that none of my rivals have him and im chasing a 50pt lead so need to do something drastic.

          Think i'll stick with Jelavic though as one of the reasons he's a good pick is, like you say, he should be on pens.

      yes.

      8 points to make up between 3 players equals 2.6 each. They wil almost do this just by playing the extra 90 mins. plus they have those extra 90 to make up the other 0.6.

          true, but im saying the extra points for 90 ALMOST make up for the transfer costs... then its just new players SCORING points in 180 mins vs old players total in 90....

          Depends who else he has... i havent drafted in any chelsea mid, ive gone for the racist home wrecker JT, think he will do good.

          Do you have people like dempsey, barfa, pienaar, siggy, bale, VDV? all better ptions than lamps i would agree.

    Think my team looks pretty good this week but any thoughts, other than that R Taylor wont play, worth a gamble??

    Schwarzer (Mignolet)
    R Taylor, Kelly, Walker (Caulker, Evans)
    Mata, Sigi, Bale, VDV (C), (Surman)

    For me personally I looked at the title of the article and skipped it.

    Dont even want to read anything that might tempt me into buying Torres. Been there, done that and bought (and since burnt) the T-Shirt.

            Nope, Santon is playing at LB. RTaylor big no no this week I think, I'd play anyone with one good game over him, he'll get last 5 mins in one game for sure if Newc are winning any of them.

              Actually even then Pard has favoured Perch to tighten up late on in games, don't think he'll get any game time thinking about it.

    After much deliberation, I've decided on some transfers for -8;

    Turner -> Hibbert
    Walcott -> Bale
    Valencia -> Pienaar
    RVP -> Cisse

    RVP would be back next week. What does the FFS community think?

    sorry for repost

    have to do changes to my mates team and he’s 2 freebies but says do as many changes as i like
    he really isnt a full time player

    his team
    vorm alhabsi
    taylor Rtaylor simpson baines richards
    sinclair jarvis dempsey sess mcclean
    yakubu torres sturridge

    i’m thinking of 5 changes for a 12 point hit

    baines,jarvis,mcclean,yakubu,sturridge > terry, vdv, pienaar, cisse and jelavic

    what you guys reckon, now i know sturridge has 2 games but think both cisse and jelavic will outscore, or just do yakubu as only striker to go and one of cisse/jelavic in

    Would like to ask for the forums opinion regarding Rooney potential role vs City..

    Have kept the faith in him over the last month and don't want to sell for Jelly/Ade, but if his role is going to be more 'defensive' midfield rather than attacking i cant see a decent return this week..

      Pretty sure he won't be playing 'defensive midfield', but he could find himself out wide and tracking back a fair bit

    Rooney seems a good bet to bench this week for a DGWer..
    Away from home.. Will be lookin for the draw.. will play deep inorder to try and break up city's attack.. can see val/nani/welb benefittin from the counters.. will only push forward if/when city scores which could be as late as the 2nd half.. ideally would play him but i'd bench him ahead of siggy/rvp which seems to be the dilemma on here

    Rooney out for a 4 point hit. Worth it for any of the following (might captain if I am convinced about bringing in). 1) jelavic ( form and wolves after) 2) cisse ( form and my rival 4 points back has him,blocker?) 3) ade (great fixtures, huge potential 4) Torres/ drogba / Sturridge ( will any get enough game time)

    Morning all...

    Sessignon - worth keeping for the gw? I have been considering swapping him out for VDV, however if rumours of Bolton players picking up knocks from the Villa game have substance I am thinking that with the prospect of Bolton iniuries the wise choice might be to give Sess another week. Thoughts?
