Antolin Alcaraz keeps Wigan in the Premier League with a dramatic late winner at Ewood Park. Jean Beausejour proves to be the key creator once again as the Latics chalk up their sixth victory in the last eight Gameweeks. Blackburn, on the other hand, are relegated to the Championship after another dire display:

Antolin Alcaraz
The Latics may been outstanding at the back in recent home games – their last three at the DW have seen clean sheets picked up against Stoke, United and Newcastle – but on the road, it’s been a different matter altogether. Roberto Martinez’s side had returned a single away clean sheet all season prior to last night, in their very first road trip at Swansea back in Gameweek 2. Alcaraz’s winner in the 1-0 triumph means he has now returned a couple of goals and four clean sheets in the last seven Gameweeks and, with the maximum bonus points in the bag, has averaged over 6 points per game over that period of time – more than any other player in Martinez’s side since Gameweek 31 onwards. His presence at the back is clearly vital – the Latics have seven clean sheets in the 25 games Alcaraz has featured in, compared to a single clean sheet in the 12 matches he missed through injury.

Jean Beausejour
The former Birmingham man has been a crucial component of the Latics’ 3-4-2-1 system since joining back in January. Beausejour has started every match from Gameweek 23 onwards and has picked up in consistency over the last few Gameweeks. Last night’s assist for Alcaraz’s last-minute goal was his fourth in his last seven appearances but, despite his recent form, a mere 103 Fantasy managers drafted him in prior to Saturday’s deadline – Victor Moses was snapped up by over 93,000 Fantasy owners in comparison. With the pressure now off, it’s basically a straight fight between Bolton and QPR to avoid the drop; Wigan, on the other hand, play host to relegated Wolves next Sunday and, given their outstanding run of form, more Fantasy managers will be turning to the Latics as the season draws to a close.

Yakubu
Blackburn’s Ewood Park blank was the fifth time in the last seven matches Steve Kean’s side have failed to find the net, with their over-reliance on the Nigerian’s goals proving their undoing. While Yakubu has netted 16 times this term, averaging 4.7 points per game (almost on a par with Juan Mata’s 4.8, for example) he has found the net in just two of his last 12 matches – with the goals drying up for the summer signing, only Junior Hoilett, with seven strikes all season, has stepped up. With confidence rock bottom and the fans venting their fury, a trip to the Bridge next Sunday could see plenty snapping up Chelsea’s assets as they seek to finish the season with a win over Kean’s beleaguered side.

Right, folks, I am as per usual over-thinking this whole FPL thing and am undecided whether to not take any hits, or go a little crazy and do a 4 or 8 point hit.

Do we think Pienaar to ANYONE (have loads of coin) is worth doing for a hit ? Or do I lose Siggy ?? I have Jelavic, btw.

I would like VDV, Nasri & one from Mata, Lamps or Ramires, BUT would all be for a hit. Midfield at mo lines up as:

    Siggy, Pienaar, Moses and Petrov.

    Thoughts ?? =o)

Thinking of doing the following for 8pt hit. I'm way ahead in mini leagues so fancying a punt:

        Jelavic > Aguero
        Dempsey > Moses
        Evans/Skrtel > Clichy/Invanovic

Obviously will only do the bottom one if evans comfirmed out, unless I just play the following def Verm Caulker Skrtel?

some people think GW2 to gauge which players are first choice. My personal opinion is either for last round of groups as teams that have qualified could field reserve players or before the semi's, though you do get 8 FTs

The thoughts going round yesterday were after GW1 when a few of the games between big teams are done. Then set yourself up for rounds 2 and 3 and use the free WC after the group stages.

8 FTs after the semis too, so should be alright.

only problem is if a team wins GW1 and 2 they could field a reserve side in 3 and leave in you in a bad way, that is why I'm leaning towards GW3, as if you have a load of reserves after GW3 it really makes no odds as you have a free WC anyway

I don't know - but a good yardstick will be his time on the pitch tonight. If Drogs is benched tonight and comes on with 20mins to go, I suggest the same will happen on saturday to keep him match warm. therefore I will say 80% chance of 70 mins for Torres in each game.

Fratboy & Doosra, Sorry chaps missed your replies earlier called away to duty.

I'm afraid caution will be the order of the day this last week due to H2H final, I may risk a 4pt hit but nothing more.

I'm thinking of doing Tevez > Aguero. FT. Planning on then captaining Aguero. Is it a sideways move? No one else I want to drop. Tied for the lead in my ML ahead of tonights game (I have Terry, he has Gerrard). He has NO City cover and will be captaining Rooney, for sure.

My front VIII for next week otherwise is

    Ramires, VDV, Pienaar, Valencia

    RVP, Tevez, KDavies

    Thoughts?

        Vorm

        Kompany Terry Caulker.

Seems to me Aguero is getting all the chances, being at the top of the attacking diamond, even though Tev is an infinitely better player imo. Plus Aguero has pens?

that is who I am bringing in, am doing it for a hit though. I am bringing Aguero in for Cisse. What is your ML position, are you comfortable? I would certainly favour Aguero over Tevez but not sure it is your most pressing transfer need.

Rest of them look spot on to me. Maybe Lescott ahead of Cahill as out of all our CB's i think he's had the best season. Sterling work, Archie.

Rooney > Aguero is as good as done, unless his blisters come back.
Is it worth taking a hit for anyone else. Will have 1.3 in the bank after bring Aguero in
Have i got my team right subs etc.
    Thanks for any help

I would play Caulker over JE.

What is your ML position, as I'd consider shifting JE to Ivanovic, but unless you're comfortable or chasing and need the attacking potential a hit for a defender is not advisable.

Why is there no love for Rooney this weekend? Surley they must win and he will be in the mix. Am I missing somthing?

The no. 1 choice this week is Aguero and with affordability it's between Roo and RVP that people have to sell to get Aguero in and RVP has better form and an easier fixture but with the same necessity to win. WBA might be extra fired up for Hodgson's last game though.

His away form is terrible for his price, even against easy opposition and this week people want Ageuro in, who offers far more security of points. Wigan was a must win game, as was Everton and the Man City game....the must win nature of the Sunderland game is seemingly immaterial to Rooney's form.

Why so much talk about selling Jelavic and Pienaar?
Ok they've been quiet in their last 2 away games but in their last few home games they've done a lot of damage.

Having said that Piennar to Yaya Toure looks tempting.

I predict a FPL crash Sunday morning, so either do your transfers Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

I will be doing mine as soon as the press conferences have been done. Already have my plan, just want to make sure I have no new injuries to disrupt them
