FFS Cup

Paddy Power Cup VI – The Grand Final

It’s here. After ten gruelling stages, we’re down to the final two participants of the Paddy Power Cup VI. Gameweek 37 saw our final four lock horns in the Semi-Finals. Here’s how they played out…

1. Optimus 45 – 69 mch

Both Optimus and mch nailed the captaincy for Gameweek 37, with the irrepressible Robin van Persie delivering the goods once again. The difference ultimately was mch’s relegation-threatened players proving they still had some fight left in them. A double Queens Park Rangers clean sheet, along with a bundle of points courtesy Martin Petrov puts him in the Grand Final.

2. DrD 53 – 49 ajay_kl

Joining mch is DrD after his razor-thin four-point victory over ajay_kl. Again, both Fantasy managers backed the Dutchmen with their captaincy, but what separated them was just the odd point here and there. An extra save point, a midfielder clean sheet, and Wayne Rooney’s assist was the difference.

So, the Gameweek 38 fixtures are as follows…

The Grand Final

mch (1,225th overall) Vs. DrD (1,260th)

3rd Place Play-Off

Optimus (1,676th) Vs. ajay_kl (42,029th)

In terms of overall standings it’s our closest ever final, with just 35 Fantasy Premier League places and a single point between mch and DrD.

Here’s a reminder of what’s at stake, courtesy of Paddy Power and ourselves…

  • Winner – £150 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
  • Runner-up – £75 worth of free bets. £30 Amazon Voucher
  • 3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £20 Amazon Voucher

Good luck to all four managers competing in this final Gameweek of the 2011/12 season!

Does everyone on here play Fifa instead of (the far superior) Pro. Evolution Soccer?

Pro Evo hasn't improved in years. I haven't played this year's version so I won't judge that but the last Pro Evo game I really enjoyed was 6. Fifa has steeped up it's game and as a result the balance of power has shifted.

Fifa has got better, and by better I mean more like Pro, only my opinion, I haven't played the latest Fifa much. i didn't mean to argue, I was just wondering if I was the only person in the world who still plays Pro 🙂

made the transistion from Pro Evo to FIFA about four seasons ago, try FIFA more Beric, I can assure you its a better game now. Shame as the old Pro Evos were better, but still the masses bought FIFA.

Alot of people have said this to me! Playing Fifa makes me feel like I'm having an affair, having spent years slating it in favor of Pro. I might have to buy Fifa this afternoon though and do a fair comparrison 🙂

I used to prefer PES but recent PES games are no match for recent FIFA ones.

I find FIFA12 far more realistic.

Even if he does start he will come off early.

To be honest I can see RDM starting him on the bench and bringing him on for last 30mins.

Hard to 2nd guess the team selection this week

Cech, Terry, Ivan and Ramires are about the only definites (cos they are all out of Champs League)

I think it depends where you are in your league. If you're way out in front or way behind then go for it. If its tight then hits might backfire big time.

Don't do Kompany in. It could easily become such an easy high scoring game that City will concede a poor goal. His chances for a bonus point is close to zero, and it's highly unlikely that he will contributed offensively. Barely any defenders are worth a hit.

    Bit of a repost, sorry.

    Jelly or Cisse > Aguero?

Ordinarily, would ditch Cisse because Everton are so tight. But 8 points ahead in ML and rival will probably keep Cisse. So I should aim to reduce differentials, right? Or wrong?

Similar question for benching: Valencia or Siggy? Rival has Valencia and will probably play him.

I'm looking to keep Cisse and ditch Jelavic, tbh. If anyone is going to score for the toon, it's him. Everton might come from anywhere, but I have a feeling the tightest defence will be on the visitor's side. Everton just have less to lose.

I think he's likely to show what he's really made of against northing-to-fight-for Blackburn, possibly impressing enough to figure in the gameplan for Munich.

Tale me out of it. With 50pt ML lead I should just (c) RVP like everyone else, but this is the sort of move that got me where I am today. And the sort of move that reduced my 100pt lead to 50 last GW 😛

Torres was typically subdued at Anfield, didn't show enough to be saved for the CL final. He'll start, the q is, will he perform? He does his best stuff against weaker sides, away from home; I'm thinking of his hat-trick at QPR in particular.

I'd have RVP over Rooney. Tevez is more likely score points than Jelly or Aguero, IMO. 5'd keep Cisse as Newcastle's key goal hope and get someone else in place of Jelly.

+1 for sack bale. No points there for months. Then again if you have kept him this long with no point return hoping for that sudden return to a 15 pt GW from him, you might as well see out the season. He won;t get any points, but IF HE DID?!? Imagine if you just sold him after MONTHS OF AGONY and he pulls down 19pts!?!?

I reckon that could be a crucial call this week. I'm playing Moses and Siggy for sure, but the Dempsey/Bale thing... less obvious.

Bale is @ home but never really comes to the fore against stiff opposition. Dempsey seems more capable away than he used to be, but up against a team that can't afford to concede..? Not so sure.

I dunno, I'd be tempted to bench Demps, play Ben Arfa and go Bale > SIlva.

          Or something.
