We have lift off. Euro 2012 gets underway with co-hosts Poland taking on Greece for the early evening clash, before Russia face the Czech Republic in the late game in the same group. After weeks of speculation and tinkering, the Summer’s feast of football begins and we’re here to cover it kick by kick.

Our Dugout Discussion chatroom is now open to soak up any real-time banter.

The lineups are now in and, so far, they’re going according to plan in our predicted Group A starting XIs:

Poland:Szczesny; Piszczek, Perquis, Wasilewski, Boenisch; Polanski, Murawski; Blaszczykowski, Obraniak, Rybus; Lewandowski.

Greece: Chalkias; Torisidis, Avram Papadopoulos, Papastathopoulos, Holebas; Maniatis, Katsouranis, Karagounis; Ninis, Gekas, Samaras.

    If it stays 1-0 I'll be happy with my Polish defence double but with this red card even though the CS looks more likely, I doubt Poland will score no more.

    Here's my thoughts....

    Watching the replay the person who winged the cross in was wearing a green illuminous armband so I assume it is the captain. I don't know who the captain is...

    I have been told Pisczek is the captain BUT from what I can see Blaszczkowski is the one wearing the armband so for me... it's his assist.

    I have the Polish keeper, Lewando (cptn) & zero Greek players.

    If Poland can concede none against 10 men in the second half, I think I would have had a great start from the first game.
