And we’re off….Having released the Player Price List earlier on this week, the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game is now officially up and running for the 2012/13 campaign, allowing us to tinker with our teams ahead of the big kick-off on Saturday August 18:

In conjunction with Tuesday’s revelation, our coverage of the player valuations continues to pick up pace. Having rolled out our analysis of the Goalkeepers and Defenders, we followed that up with a look at the Midfielders earlier this afternoon – no prizes for guessing the Forwards are on tomorrow’s agenda.

For now, though, let’s not waste any further time – our patience has been tested enough. Head off to the official site and get your team registered for the new season, folks, and let the planning begin.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Lost at bottom of last paget - Since few other people seem to have jumped in I’m about to set up a little no-commitment fun league called “Opening Day League” for everyone who’s here reading on opening day. How’d you like it – CLASSIC or HEAD TO HEAD? First to 5 votes wins.

Tangtastic I have counted your vote.

Creates a consistent team identity too.

In the main league I contest, the previous winners also put an * next to their name for every title win. Changing the name every year would ruin that a bit.

Foster is a huge risk especially GW1, but he is a good keeper, was 7th highest in keeper standings last season. I think WBA could surprise people this year, are good at the back.

    Hi Guys,

My first RMT of the season, in celebration of the opening of FPL!!!!

Please be as brutal as you like, I want to make progress this year after years of disappointment....

    DDG/Federici (10.5)
    Cole / Jenkinson / Fabio / Coloccini / Clichy (26.5)
    Hazard / Walcott / Sigurdsson / Beausejour / De Guzman (39)
    Torres / Pog / Tevez (24)

thanks in advance guys and gals

I know what you mean - an uneasy feeling attached to those two, especially after last season's shennanigans! Quite right about United, perhaps i'll bring in some Kagawa power into my midfield.

As an aside, fantastic job on the site (i'm sure you hear this all the time!). Members area is worth every dime.

i like Pog but unsure about Reading, Gonna take a cheeky wee punt on Petric 1st few games and see how it goes, the other cheap option i considered was Danny Graham. Both have nice fixtures.

I think Silva is better value than Aguero. I chose Boyce because he plays RWB in their new formation. If they don't play with 3 CBs in pre-season i'll ditch him. Remember he scored 2 goals in their last Premier League match 😉

Silva ain't going to cover everything that City does. The strike partnership of Tevez/Aguero is mostly enogh to break defenses. Yeah he did score two in the last game but I guess he did score the same amount of goals in the whole season.

McAnuff is Reading's most likely source of goals/assists from midfield though I'm only having him because of the DGW. My selection of Boyce is based on his and Wigan's form following their change in system.

Saylor, Cuellar, Boyce, Noble, Maloney and Graham (i.e. all but one of the cheap picks) have a good enough fixture GW3 to be happy playing them. So I'll play 4-3-3 if I sell Cole for Lescott/Kaboul or 3-4-3 if I sell Hazard for Bale (more likely).

Boyce did rather well after his move to WB last season. Saylor and Santon are the same price and I believe Saylor has more goal and baps potential. If Newcastle sign a new CB my thinking may change.

I see a lot of teams with a weak 3rd striker to fund a hitter in midfield or defence. Surely the strikers are where the points are at...

GW1: Aguero, Torres, Adebayor. Then Torres out for Rooney. Sorted til the WC then.

I don't get the 3 big hitters up front, does too much damage to the rest of your team with a 100m budget. There are good budget picks in each position, use the 3rd striker spot for one. If your choice turns out to be poor its easy to knee-jerk someone of a similar price in.
