Chelsea have this evening announced the signing of 20-year-old Brazilian Oscar from Internacional for a fee, reportedly in the region of £25 million. The young attacking midfielder, who can play centrally or on the flank, is currently on Olympic duty with his national side, offering us Fantasy managers and Chelsea fans the opportunity to assess his talents in the coming month.

Oscar is the latest acquisition by the Champions League winners who have been quick to flex their financial muscles following their triumph in Munich, capturing the likes of Eden Hazard and Marko Marin. The arrival of the South American playmaker is believed to take their Summer spending well beyond the £50 million mark.

For us Fantasy managers, this latest foray into the market adds further doubt to our selection of Chelsea’s attacking assets. Roberto Di Matteo’s side begin their campaign with a double Gameweek, taking on a trip to Wigan and a midweek home clash with newly promoted Reading. While that pair of fixtures offers obvious incentive for investment, Di Matteo’s first choice lineup is becoming more and more difficult to call by the week.

Chelsea face three league games in the space of six days with a home meeting with Newcastle looming in Gameweek 2; realistically Di Matteo will surely be looking to utilise his options to keep his lineup fresh. It looks difficult, perhaps almost impossible, to find an attacking player who is assured of starting all three of those matches.

We can at least presume that Oscar will take time to bed in and be given a number of weeks to acclimatise before being given a full Premier League debut. However, his arrival in the squad will mean that the uncertainty surrounding our Chelsea selections is set to remain long after the double Gameweek has passed.

We’ll bring you a full Scout Report on Oscar, with more analysis on his likely role and impact in the next 24-hours.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

We'll sell him to Juve hopefully.
Giroud and Podi might not be as good individually but as a combo they offer more goal threat and makes us less reliant upon one player's fitness so good luck to RVP but we'll be just fine.

        +1

Except, I'm not convinced that Podolski is not as good as Van Persie.

People ignore the fact that Van Persie has a lot of world class teammates at Arsenal. Podolski didn't really have that at Koln.

Yep, agreed. Podi only really had one poor season since he came to the fore.
Giroud also offers genuine aerial threat which RVP didn't.

    Valencia
    Nani

    Kagawa?

I ment it terms of game time. I haven't seen Kagawa in action for them yet but if he's going foward alot, then why not..

Maybe start with Valencia and if Kagawalad suprises me then it's easy to downgrade Valencia to him..

Probably nailed on in the order:

      1 - Valencia
      2 - Kagawa
      3 - Nani/Young

Accepted wisdom is Kagawa playing just behind Rooney but I'm not a Man U fan so will bow to superior knowledge shortly...

I'm considering a punt on Petric.

Having a low priced forward sure makes the rest of my team slightly easier to manage.

Any/Many considerning Bent?? Proven PL goal scorer, decent opening fixtures and with Paul Lambert at the helm I think he could be a bargain buy at 8.5m

I think he's being overlooked as he missed the last 3 months of the the season and the euro's and it prove to be a big mistake!

I'm torn between 2 forward lines at the moment:

      Aguero - Rooney - Petric

Aguero - Bent - Adebayor (if he moves to Spurs)

      Both cost 29.5m.

Yeah, I want Aguero. I also want Torres for DGW so only trouble I'm having is wondering how to fit Bent in!

Here's my squad and reasoning behind decisions!

GK: De Gea - Nearest thing to guaranteed starter in United's back 5 and I want United defence cover
GK: Federici - Initial double gameweek. First 6 weeks rotate well with United. Guaranteed starter. Should get save points if not clean sheets

DEF: Cole - I've had him every year. Want Chelsea defense cover. Has never let me down
DEF: Lescott - Should be guaranteed starter unless Mancini invests in another CB. Pops up with some goals. Completes my strategy of getting United/City/Chelsea defense cover
DEF: Clark - Loving Villa's start to the season. A risk he won't start but I think he will. If not CB with Dunne then OOP as holding midfielder
DEF: McCartney - West Ham have a dream first 6 games. Despite what some people here think, I reckon he's nailed on starter at LB. Good crosser could lead to assists
DEF: Wilson - Stoke rotate well with West Ham (full season). Nailed on LB starter. Possibility of moving OOB CM later in the year if there are injuries. To rotate with McCartney.

MID: Noble - See McCartney. Nailed on for set pieces and penos. Turned off by Nolan's yellow card record
MID: Guthrie - Double gameweek to start. Back up midfielder with hopefully guaranteed starts if needed
MID: Larsson - Tough opener away to Arsenal but nice run of games then. Sessengnon too dear this year. Larsson should have control of set pieces too
MID: Pienaar - If moving to Everton on time. Decent run of games after United opener. Should fill the spot left by Cahill hopefully
MID: Walcott - Sun and Sou first 2 home games are the kind of opportunities for Walcott to get those explosive double pointers he's capable of. Cash in the bank to upgrade to Silva after GW4 if he's back fit from Olympics

STR: Torres - Only striker available for Chelsea. Double gameweek plus nice run of games up to week 5. Worth the gamble to begin the season with. Captain week 1
STR: Rooney - Only United attacker guaranteed a start. On penalties. Dream GW2-4 to takeover captaincy (RVP arriving might change things)
STR: Bent - Lovely run of fixtures for Villa and Bent to go on scoring spree hopefully. Especially the home games.

Strategy covers the big 3 defensively, 1 main midfielder (Walcott/Silva) & 2 big hitters up front to cover captaincy. My main worry is no Spurs cover currently with weeks 2-5 looking very appealing. I'll probably bring in Dawson/Kaboul for Wilson dpending on GW1.

Is Mingolet/Green a good keeper rotation? Sunderland always solid at home under MON and reckon QPR will be this season's Swansea in terms of clean sheets.
