Another piece in the Fantasy Football Scout jigsaw for the new season was restored this evening, with the Set Piece Takers table published and added to the top menu bar.

Andy has rinsed through all the Premier League clubs and added details for all the Penalty, Direct Free Kick and Corner/Indirect Free Kick takers. When it comes to Penalties and Free Kicks, the players are listed according to the current perceived pecking order.

As we get more data from the pre-season matches, we’ll be refreshing the table accordingly. Plus, once the season starts, we’ll be keeping this table up to date to reflect any changes and pecking order shuffles for each team.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

First time RMT……. [Still very dependent on RVP situation]

    DDG + Jaaske
    Lescott Cole Hangeland Ceullar Barnett
    Yaya Sinclair Pienaar Noble Maloney
    Rooney Tevez Torres

0.5m in bank and Intend on
    (a) Switching Torres and Cole to Assou and Ade in GW2
    (b) Go with Ade from start and take reliable Kompany over Lescott????

Grim times. I don't think Tevez or Kagawa will play 90 mins in every match so i don't fancy either. I'm guessing it's your 3rd striker slot so B would give more balance.

@Parmtree on the previous page. I wouldn't drop Hazard just because Mata might play one match. It's Marin who will be most likely to make way. And that would mean Hazard would play on the left wing for one match, which isn't so bad.

        Green | Al-Habsi
Ivanovic | (Coloccini Cuellar) (Rangel Hughes)
        Hazard Bale Taarabt Maloney Noble
        Rooney Aguero Graham

        +0.5m for Vidic

My only concern is that i have just two DGWers.

They were my first keepers, but you did re-ignite my love for them. It enabled me to finally let go of Boyce, 5m for a Wigan defender was slightly crippling to my defence.

yeah I'd rather pay it for Al-Habsi, plenty of saves and a decent chance of a peno save. I might go Al-Habsi and Fed as I want Fabio and don't fancy doubling

I really wanted Fabio but a QPR supporter said Traore is rated quite highly there and is one of the best crossers in their side. It put me off.

                  It shouldn't.

Traore gets played on the left wing and only ever as a substitute.

There was a reason Hughes bought Taiwo on loan and played him at LB and has now loaned in Fabio. He doesn't trust Traore as first choice starting LB.

                  Fabio is nailed on.

Can't see Martinez dropping the 3-4-3 wing back formation, and in that sense 5m for a wide midfielder who will be the "out" ball along with Beausejour, could be considered a bargain.

Steven Taylor at 5m could still be a better shout though.

I've recently realised that Boyce won't get attacking points in many games, especially with the kind of players in the Wigan team. And then Al-Habsi-s save points would make up for the attacking points. Swansea coverage isn't a bad thing to gain either.

    Cole Clichy Demel Gorkss Tierney
Kagawa Silva Bale N'Zogbia De Guzman

Demel, Gorkss and Tierney really aren't going to get you clean sheets. Could prove frustrating after a while, especially if Mancini plays a 3-5-2 one week and drops Clichy.

Worried about game time for Tevez and Kagawa, maybe better to wait and see with those two.

Zabaletta and Balotelli score in a 4-2 win over Southampton (as far as I can recall from the dream I had!), so he's staying put for now. In any case, I think his position in City's starting line-up is safer than Clichy's.

Cabaye scored 129 points in his first season. Ba and Cisse ahead of him, on set pieces and Taylor and Colocini to aim for. I think he'll have a big second season. Interestingly, second most picked midfielder in the game.

Fancy QPR to be stronger this year, and Fabio buys me into their defence at only 4.5m with an attacking threat. Likewise, I think Taarabt will have a big year under Hughes as the manager clearly rates him. Finished last season very strongly on the goal and assist front.

He does drop deeper, but his average position is surprisingly further forward than Aguero.

Well, there's not much in it but marginally he is imo.

Less goals than Aguero as a % of shots, but more on target. But definitely 100% more reliable for assists.

He's in my team at the moment. I think they're both world class players and it wouldn't surprise me, if Tevez is truly back in the fold, if both he and Aguero give way to give Balotelli game time.

Slowly coming around to the idea of going with Aguero, Rooney & Torres. Pretty sure i am going to be wildcarding during the international break after GW3. With these prices, i want to quickly get my team value higher than others.

Tevez over Silva is another £1m.

It is, but he is 1.5 more for a reason. Silva is unlikely to hurt you if you don't have him, Not having Ageuro against Southampton and QPR could easily see you fall behind.

Playing preseason FF with your FPL team.

You need value players in all areas of your team and Noble is bound to get points even if his team get relegated. He's certainly a better prospect than Guthrie. He doesn't need many points to justify a very low £5m price.

That's just one gameweek though. He's a defensive mid, and his 4.5m price tag means he is difficult to transfer out. If you plan to wildcard in the international break he could be good value.

I take pre-season results with a pinch of salt. But i understand the Guthrie pick. He would only need a few goals to bring a return on just 4.5m, which is pretty decent. I just don't think he'll get them in the Premier League.

    Hi guys,

I'd love you all to take a gander at my team. I'm convinced both Kagawa and Hazard are going to smash their opening seasons so I'll point out know I'm set on taking the risk on both and profiting on them later 😉

I have a 2GW Plan to help deal with the blank fixture Chelsea has in GW 3:
    GW1 = Marin to Sinclair
    GW2 = Cole to Lescott

My squad for GW1 is as follows:

    Vorm/Federici

    Cole/Hangeland/Rafael/Mariappa/Coloccini

    Hazard/Kagawa/Siggy or VDV/Silva/Marin

    Cisse/Defoe/Graham

As you can see I'm betting big on the midfield and hoping the mid to low priced forwards pull off something special! Any suggestions? Will be glad to hear from you 😉 PS Right now I'm leaning for Siggy over VDV.

As one of the guys who put the (C) on VP so many times I agree! Completely forgot that after this DGW there won't often be a standout person on my team to captain such as Rooney/Aguero etc. How do you suggest I free up the money to upgrade my offence? Any cheap Defenders/Mids I should downgrade to?

Dann would be a mistake imo. Samba on the other hand.... that would be awesome. Hughesy is a master, building a tidy little squad down in Shepherds Bush!

£13m might be a bit overpriced too, especially given that he's now competing with Giroud and Podolski.

That said, if I thought he was committed to one more season I'd definitely be making plans to accommodate him at some point.

If he was lining up against Southampton for City on 19th August i can't imagine him not being in my team. I'd probably chuck him the handband as well for good measure 🙂

    A theory on keepers:

They seem to hold good value. This is mainly due to their advantage of receiving additional points for saves. However, top keepers like De Gea and Friedal don't benefit from this because they have stable defences in front of them. So to me it makes sense to go cheap in goal with keepers who you think have a respectable chance of CSs, that way you lap up the save points and gain the main bulk of your CSs from the defenders, who you now have more moeny to invest in.

+1 its also my thinking in Friedel.

AVB's tactics of high line defence = plenty of saves for Friedel.

True, but won't the high line of defense be more likely to leave friedel with one-on-ones (which are harder to stop) as apposed to people taking pot shots from further out because they can't get past the defense?

Hmm perhaps so. Still at 5.5 its between him and Vorm as both have good fixtures. Id prefer to wait and see how Swansea perform under Laudrup

I'd wait and see if they go for Lloris though.

If they do then Friedel will be toast.

Ja, good point. I have totally gone off investing more than 5 in a keeper tbh. I'd much rather get the defenders of the big teams. Some have goal threats aswell.

totally agree. Just gotta figure out who is this years Vorm or Krul.

In fact, it could be Vorm or Krul. 5.5 is fair for a starting keeper. Once I see that 6.0 figure, I cringe...

Yep it's a valid point imo. Hennessey was fairly decent for me in patches last season almost solely down to save points.

2 cheap keepers is almost fantasy football law to me and i can't see me breaking the habit this season. Although saying that it's tough to talk anyone out of going for De Gea. He'll surely prove great value if you just sit back and play him for 38 games

It is a nice combo. But i think Cuellar offers great value. I'm going for the save magnet Al-Habsi with the improving QPRs keeper Green. Wigan's new formation will tighten them up as well, so i fancy a few more CSs this year. Al-habsi could be gold dust.

Yeah, although I still have a niggling doubt about Cuellar being 100% nailed on with all their CBs. Hadn't looked at the Al Habsi / Green combo - I think Al Habsi's price put me off at first. Will have a butchers now!

Odd to be..happy and settled with my team. Content. Any major concerns, or can I forget FPL for a while? 🙂

    Szczesny, Mignolet,

    Taylor.S, Hangeland, Fabio

    Mata (VC), Hazard, Taarabt, Maloney

    Rooney, Aguero (C), Petric

    (Rangel, Pilkington, Cuellar)

Backline, Maloney, Taarabt, Pilkington and Petric all rotate pretty well, not that they'all all last. Hazard or Mata to Bale after GW1..

Cheers, out of interest would you say the same if it was De Gea/Fed? (Same price). After some research, I really like the rotation they got going for a long period. But 10.5 is the most expensive i've ever gone on Keepers.

People are blinded by his low valuation for a Utd keeper. I'd say downgrade and pump up your defence mate, your CS's may stay the same, but you'll get additional save points.

Think Taarabt is the pen taker now. He took the one last game when Zamora was still on the pitch.

In fairness it was usually him or Helgusson, so it will be Taarabt now.

Can someone tell me why the numbers on the player to player match ups stats are different from the FPL on the premier league site? Now some of you might think that it may be because the FFS sight would include cup games but the figures are actually less on this site so I'm totally thrown, are the figures based on projections on this sight?
