I remember having Phil Jones as an OOP for a good long time two seasons back. The problem with OOP defs that play DM is that will frustrate you in the hope of attacking returns while ruining potential def rotations while you stubbornly hold on for dear life just cos he's an OOP

No good being OOP if its a DM generally they get returns basically the same as defenders anyway.

They can shut up shop when they need to with the new formation. You can look at stats from last season but in my eyes you should only look at them from when they changed their system, which is very good. This is why i believe Al-habsi should have included in this article. The final Wolves game was unique as it was the last one of the season.

I discussed Al-Habsi earlier. Mark seems to think there is no real value and the peno saves distorted his actual total. But short of doubling on Sunderland/Fulham or finding a new defensive rotation I don't see much better for 5 million
I understand his thinking that there are better outfield players like and Boyce and Alcaraz but we only have 5 slots for defenders, we can't fit all of them in, especially ones that rotate. At some point we will have to commit to a keeper that has a cheaper defender on their team if you want a cheap goalkeeper combo.
yeah, but Migs for the same price is quite tempting, especially when Alcaraz is maybe more attacking than Cuellar
Wigan were very good in that period but I just see them amongst a biggish group of teams whose GKs/Defs are of a similar price (and expectation of CSs)

If I remember correctly Wigan also beat Liverpool and ManU before the Arsenal game and were cheated at Chelsea where two offside goals were awarded otherwise they had a cleansheet. Sadly, I bet one game last year, Wigan over Fulham.

Probably will I'll have to free up some extra funds. It's just with Rooney being my favourite player. once I have him I find it very hard to give him up haha. Kept faith in him too long last season during his barren spell after his epic start, then got rid, then he started scoring again! I really could do with some united attacking cover though, I just don't know who will be playing regularly apart from Rooney.

Folks - a quick question: Can you help explain the significance of the home and away figures alongside each team in the season ticker. They represent degrees of difficulty or easiness of fixtures but how do I interpret them? Thanks for any help you can give.
The larger the number the stronger that team is at home/away.

A player no one has mentioned is Alan Tate. What are his chances of getting back into the first team after last seasons injury? Is he still club captain? If he starts then surely he is the must have bargain of the season?
Can't see that at all. Think you're confusing him with Monk who was the club captain. Tate got a long term injury but Neil Taylor is well established now, and rightly 1st choice. He'll play the majority of games, and has looked good at the Olympics too.
Taylor is very good player. Nailed on since they signed him 2 years back.
Can Tate not play at centre back? Could he start the season ahead Of Chico at centre back?
In all honesty no, he'll just be a squad player tbh. Chico has been bought as 1st choice with a strong reputation from Spain, and some have said he's even better than Caulker. Can't see Tate playing much.

Any serious FPL managers on here interested in starting/participating in a Draft mini league, done this with mates last couple of seasons. We capped it at 6 participants with league setup aimed at each manager having exclusive rights to his player picks. We worked the pick rotation by holding a 15 round draw obviously this will have to be tinkered with to work here online.
Any thoughts or interest most welcome

I really want him but Rooney and Aguero means my third striker has to be relatively budget.
There are so many strikers who COULD start with a bang. Of course the usual suspects like Rooney & Aguero but also the likes of Cisse, Bent, Adebayor, Ba, Suarez & Jelavic not to mention a certain Robin Van Persie.
Just got to go with your own instinct i think and spend less time looking at the generic RMTs on here.

He's in for me. Just been made captain in what will be a far more attacking team this term. Great price. I think he has a non serious injury but it needs monitoring. Gonna throw in Tevez instead if he looks unlikely to make the first game.
Thats pretty much bang on my thinking. Proven goalscorer and I reckon Lambert will bring the best out of him. Ideally my starting 3 for GW1 would be Torres Bent Aguero (may have to settle for Tevez)

Nagging feelings that:
1) Holt will score similar for £2m less.
2) Villa will still be crap this season
3) Bent rarely has multi goal games and wasn't a bonus point magnet under the old system.
That £2m can be spent wisely on midfield, defence or keepers so I think Bent's a no for me.

there all in the midfield of all rmts parmtree, just not together,thought id lump them all together and see what happens,a few penos will help ,all 5 capable of scoring so you never know ,krul and mingolet self evident ,but unfortunatly 0.5 above the threshold it seems but honestly perfect home rotation for 2 gd teams ,im happy with that ,komps and cashley play every week,kos and dawson rotate perfect,up front i expect torres to return plenty of goals with the firepower bought this season to supply him ,tevez is pretty much as good as it gets and for 9.0 i suggest the biggest bargain this season ,gentlemen i therefore rest my case for the defense.......
I think Kos/Arse, at least until week 7, has heartbreak written all over it.
