Having already run the rule over the Goalkeepers, and Defenders for the season ahead, the third part in our series of Members articles sees us analyse the midfielders. With the aid of our Projections we’ve analysed the average points expected per player over the course of the upcoming campaign and, applying this to the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) player price list, have listed the top ten in terms of expected value per Fantasy pound for the season ahead…

To start the season with, Federici and Green. After the first 10 weeks I'd expect Begovic to outperform both.

    My defence atm

    Friedel / Federici
    Cole / Hangeland / Rangel / Cuellar / Demel

Madness to start without city & united?
Plan is to change cole to someone in gw3, but who knows what will happen before that.

    Rest of the team is
    Bale / Lampard / Michu / Taarabt / Guthrie
Aguero / Torres / Graham or Petric
    2 mil in bank

Friedel > De Gea could be done if a) Spurs' defence isn't as good as last season (expected by many to be honest) and/or b) De Gea nails down the #1 shirt. That leaves you only lacking City defence. Could always look to do Cole > whichever City defender is flavour of the week in GW3

Is this a concious decision to move away from 2 'elite' defenders? Not been on the boards for a few days but last I checked, all the cool kids were doing it 😉

I like the balance you get with more average defenders rotating but I also feel that for 6-6.5m you can get a cheapish way into the best defences so it's worth the extra spend. Also, picking City/United defenders every week is a lot less stressful that trying to predict the defensive returns of mid-table teams.

    Double Bed (wardrobe)
table chair sofa lampstand (chest of drawers)

    Krul
Harte - Cole - Terry - Ivanovic (or maybe put Cahill in)

    Petric - Aguero - Cisse

I quite like it but don't think I would select it. 4 defenders with a double game week and 6 solid forward looking players

Without even reading the article, I'm not surprised by this. I predict City's GW1 team to contain few (if any) of the players who had summer tournaments. Wouldn't be at all surprised if Lescott, Balotelli, Richards and Silva sat it out, which is good if you want to pick Yaya or Tevez but annoying if you were relying on Lescott as a nailed-on route into the back 4.

I suspect Mancini's team selection will continue to frustrate this season!

Silva seemed knackered towards the end of last season and went on to play in the Euros so I think he's likely to be rested. Plus there's no reason to rush Balotelli back when they have Aguero/Tevez on form up front.

If I've learned anything about fantasy football it's this: Graham > Petric

These players who show form over preseason nearly always have a quiet start (FPL-wise) and we all look back and say "why did we get sucked in".

The unglamorous, 'obvious' picks are the ones that do well

I guess it's not an exact science but just an observation.

Yes. Tempting it is. I would love to pick Petric and him get off to a flyer with everyone else slow to get in on the action, but it's more likely that he will sit in my team with a collection of 1s and 2s until a few gameweeks in when I begrudgingly transfer him out at a 0.2m+ loss

Morning all. Apologies if this has been done to death already but....with the rumour mill hotting up on Man U closing in on RVP, how does everybody see this influencing their forward line (where they to sign him)? Presumably RVP would push Roo in to the deeper role? I've currently got Rooney but he will be straight out if this transfer goes through. Moreover I won't be jumping straight on the RVP bandwagon either (at least not until thI've seen some evidence that he can carry his Arsenal form across).

I really think he could stay at arsenal, but if he does come to united than I still think Rooney will be the man to pick, as he will probably still be on spot kicks.

Good point. The Man U midfield is a minefield which is best left alone imo.

If he signs for United then Rooney and van Persie become no go areas at their price IMO

Having Tevez and Aguero is ok because Tevez is so much cheaper but to have a 12m and 13m striker fighting for the same points is too big a risk.

Forget RVP going to United. SAF is just messing with Wenger and trying to generate interest for the IPO.

are they nailed on dough? Especially as it is looking like Ayala is coming in as well.

Norwich fans seem to think so. Tierney should be at LB.
