Having already run the rule over the Goalkeepers, and Defenders for the season ahead, the third part in our series of Members articles sees us analyse the midfielders. With the aid of our Projections we’ve analysed the average points expected per player over the course of the upcoming campaign and, applying this to the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) player price list, have listed the top ten in terms of expected value per Fantasy pound for the season ahead…

Who are the best 2 4.5M Gks?
Open Controls -
Any nailed on 6m defenders?
Open Controls-
Kosh is 5.5 looks pretty solid
Jose Enrique+ Squirtlee
Jagielka
for 1 mil more you can afford Vidic....Open Controls

Hi there,
Could you please RMT?
Mignolet, federici
Lescott, fabio, cole, Cuellar, McCartney
Noble, lampard, bale, larsson, maloney
Torres, aguero, graham
£2m in bank for Torres to Rooney
Thanks!Open Controls-
Double Sunderland defence - you really that confident? Other than that, it's a bog-standard FFS RMT.
Open Controls
-
-
My defence atm
Friedel / Federici
Cole / Hangeland / Rangel / Cuellar / Demel
Madness to start without city & united?
Plan is to change cole to someone in gw3, but who knows what will happen before that.
Rest of the team is
Bale / Lampard / Michu / Taarabt / Guthrie
Aguero / Torres / Graham or Petric
2 mil in bankOpen Controls-
Madness indeed. At least one of them
Open Controls-
Not what I wanted to hear, but thanks anyway 🙂
Open Controls-
Friedel > De Gea could be done if a) Spurs' defence isn't as good as last season (expected by many to be honest) and/or b) De Gea nails down the #1 shirt. That leaves you only lacking City defence. Could always look to do Cole > whichever City defender is flavour of the week in GW3

morning lads. Could you rate my latest attempt at my team.
........................DeGea..........Jass..........
Gunther........A Cole..........Enrique.............Koscielny........Fonte
Bale...........Silva..........Maloney..........Michu............Noble
.........Roo.........Torres........Pog.....
Any advice where I can make changesOpen Controls-
Don't like Pog, Silva is good coverage for city as you don't have Aguero.
Open Controls -
enrique -----> cuellar
pog ---> graham
koscielny ---> clichyOpen Controls-
(arsenal are without sagna and are often dodgy defensively at the start of the season, plus they have crappy fixtures. liverpool have WOEful fixtures.)
Open Controls-
point taken
Open Controls
-
-
A lot of talk on here saying Clichy isnt nailed on. thats why i changed away from him
Open Controls
-
-
Enrique and Koscielny? No City in def? Really?
Open Controls-
good point. i have clichy in the mix now.
Open Controls

Thoughts on this lot?
Friedel, Federici
Ivanovic, Rangel, Cuellar, Hughes, McCartney
Bale, Lampard, Mata, Taarabt, Noble
Aguero, Tevez, PetricOpen Controls-
much like mine, so agaiss I like it 🙂
Not worried to go without city / united defence?Open Controls -
What your plan with your doubles? Tevez + Aguero and Mata + lamps
Open Controls -
No Man U no RMT 😉
Open Controls -
Not so sure about Mata starting the first game or two. After that yes.
Open Controls -
Is this a concious decision to move away from 2 'elite' defenders? Not been on the boards for a few days but last I checked, all the cool kids were doing it 😉
I like the balance you get with more average defenders rotating but I also feel that for 6-6.5m you can get a cheapish way into the best defences so it's worth the extra spend. Also, picking City/United defenders every week is a lot less stressful that trying to predict the defensive returns of mid-table teams.Open Controls
-
-
A) Rooney + McClean
B) Bent + SilvaOpen Controls -
Rate My Furniture.
Double Bed (wardrobe)
table chair sofa lampstand (chest of drawers)
stool tv.stand desk (baby' cot) (baby's high chair)
Nested tables Armchair Breakfast Bar
Too heavy in defence? Midfield subs rotate well thoughOpen Controls-
You need some Chaise Longue for the flair pick. You'll thank me later.
Open Controls-
Would need to downgrade Breakfast Bar to Tray On Lap though. Worth the risk?
Open Controls
-
-
double bed is a good pick for the DGW
Open Controls-
This is it. I can bring single bed in later if need be, also
Open Controls
-
-
Yeah, id down grade Sofa to Rocking Horse and up grade Nested Tables to a big hitter......maybe Antique Oak Side Draws. Gives you all round coverage then.
Open Controls-
I had forgotten all about AOSD. Thought may not get game time due to age but now i think about it will probably be a permanent fixture on the right side. Good shout
Open Controls
-
-
glad you avoided sofa-bed. Too much of a roation risk IMO
Open Controls-
and reverse OOP too.
Open Controls-
It varies but has reputation for being quite tight at the back but does fold easily imo
Open Controls
-
-
But when does play is normally OOP so could be worth a punt when xmas comes around or when I've had a few pints and get overconfident
Open Controls
-
-
Don't go for lamps, too deep this season
Open Controls-
Need some LGT coverage though and shade is too risky and chandelier too expensive. Could take a shot with Outside Security Light if they come on
Open Controls
-
-
Have you considered Swivel Chair? A good bit cheaper than Chair and has much better opening fixtures, not to mention his penchant for crossing in advanced positions on the wing.
Open Controls-
I just don't see him being a stable pick. Too prone to rotation
Open Controls-
Good one! But you are putting way too much thought into this.
Open Controls-
I agree but got bored of rmts 🙂
Open Controls
-
-
Possibly, but he represents brilliant value for the first 6-10 weeks. Once his legs fail him you can easily bench him or upgrade back to a more stable choice.
I have noticed that you haven't chosen any the new younger players, wouldn't mind seeing that exciting prodigous talent that is Projector Screen upfront.Open Controls-
I just don't like the Projector Screen / tv stand combination. Could look at Surround Sound Speakers for balance though
Open Controls

Begovic Federici
Vidic Cole Tierney Demel Fonte
Bale Lampard Yaya Noble El Ahmadi
Torres Aguero Petric
2M in the bank to swap Torres > Rooney.
What do you guys think?Open Controls -
I have Kagawa but may go with Valencia. Now I wonder if either of them would be a good pick.
Valencia at RB and Kagawa a rotation risk. Sheesh.Open Controls -
any reading def nailed on?
Open Controls -
-
Why there are so little love on Pogrebnyak while Petric is having so much?
Open Controls -
Petric or Graham then?
Open Controls-
Pog
Open Controls-
😀
Open Controls-
He has a DGW in case you hadn't noticed.
Open Controls-
And he'll get 4 points from it and be a thorn in your side for weeks to come. I'd have one of the other two any day.
Open Controls -
And 0 goals plus -0.2m price drop first GW;) No good striker to replace him at his price tag if he fails
Open Controls -
then GW2 you'll somehow convince yourself that Sammy Ameobi is going to have a break through season and all your Pog problems are fixed
Open Controls
-
-
-
-
-
Thoughts? 2m in bank.
Federici
Lescott Ivanovic Gunter
Sinclair Bale Lampard Noble
Aguero Petric Torres (Rooney GW2)
Subs: Friedel, Maloney, McCartney, Clyne.
Thanks.Open Controls-
I like it. Maybe would downgrade Ivanovic to upgrade one of remaining defenders.
Open Controls -
I worry About the planned week 2 transfer. Week 2 is Often a good time to jump on a bandwagon on whoever the hot prospect is in week 1 and picking up some value? Also you will have to get in quick because so many others will be doing the same trade.
Open Controls
-
-
QPR at home should be good for a few clean sheets or do you think with all their attacking signings they're gonna leave the back door open?
Can't decideOpen Controls-
I think they'll be solid at home like they were at the end of last season.
Open Controls -
If Fabio and Traore play as fullbacks, Heskey can score.
Open Controls -
And here lies the problem. Both valid
Open Controls-
I think Fabio will make up for it in attacking returns anyway.
Open Controls

Quick poll second round:
a) Tevez+Petric+Michu+1.5m
b) Tevez+Pogrebynak+Lampard
c) Aguero+Pogrebnyak+MichuOpen Controls-
Aguero + Petric + Dyer?
Open Controls-
I already have Noble and Maloney. Wouldn't the midfield become weak with
Noble+Maloney+Dyer+Bale+Silva?Open Controls-
If you get Aguero then downgrade Silva and upgrade Noble.
Open Controls
-
-
-
a with Sinclair.
Open Controls -
you really like Pog don't you with him in your Grav and everything.
A!!!!!!!!!!!Open Controls -
A
Open Controls -
-
No, this option is invalid. McClean cost 6.5m where I only have 5.5 to spend on a midfield with Aguero+Petric.
Open Controls
-
-
-
A) Cole + Bale
B) Lescott + Mata
Already have Lampard + Torres + Aguero + Yaya
I will swap Mata out for Bale after GW1Open Controls -
Thoughts on this lot?
Hart,Cerny
A Cole, Clichy, Cuellar, Hangeland, Clyne
Siggy, Valencia, Song, Michu, Noble
Torres, Tevez, Petric
2.0m for Rooney switch GW2
Not sure weather to change siggy to bale
possibliy michu to pienear?
Is tevez going to start?Open Controls -

100-348
Open Controls

Anyone else worries about being caught with 3 Chelsea players who's value could potentially dive through the floor?
Open Controls -
Does anyone think forgetting Torres could be the way to go? How about this for a week 1 team?
Krul
Harte - Cole - Terry - Ivanovic (or maybe put Cahill in)
Michu - Bale - Pienaar
Petric - Aguero - Cisse
I quite like it but don't think I would select it. 4 defenders with a double game week and 6 solid forward looking playersOpen Controls -

David Platt admits David Silva and Mario Balotelli may not be ready to start the new Premier League season.

If Silva wont get any PT in the Shield than Yaya will be in my team day 1.
Open Controls-
Has to be!
Open Controls
-
-
-
Almost certainly.
Considering dropping Torres and going with Aguero, Tevez, Yaya now. 😎Open Controls-
Torres/Lampard double vs Yaya/Tevez is a tough one.
Open Controls-
Decisions, decisions ...
Open Controls-
You're lacking Kolarov 😉
Open Controls-
Which ones will you have from Citeh?
Open Controls-
Prob Kolarov, Yaya and Aguero/Tevez
Open Controls-
Yeah, I forgot to mention Clichy below, wouldn't be at all surprised if Kolarov he starts the first 2 and gets some attacking returns.
Thing is, you have to plan to get rid as there's no way he'll be nailed on after Clichy is back.Open Controls -
He will be if they keep the 3-5-2.
Open Controls
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
Without even reading the article, I'm not surprised by this. I predict City's GW1 team to contain few (if any) of the players who had summer tournaments. Wouldn't be at all surprised if Lescott, Balotelli, Richards and Silva sat it out, which is good if you want to pick Yaya or Tevez but annoying if you were relying on Lescott as a nailed-on route into the back 4.
I suspect Mancini's team selection will continue to frustrate this season!Open Controls -
I'll have a bit of Yaya with this news
Open Controls -
Do footballers really need over a month off? I guess they deserver it though.
Open Controls-
No idea.
What happened with the cricket then? Got any sleep at all? 😛Open Controls -
I think the lash is required.
Open Controls -
Lotta Johnny-come-latelies here. Yaya. Pffft.
Open Controls -
Silva seemed knackered towards the end of last season and went on to play in the Euros so I think he's likely to be rested. Plus there's no reason to rush Balotelli back when they have Aguero/Tevez on form up front.
Open Controls
-
-
So Petric got another goal, eh? And an assist too.
You know it's going to happen. This'll be an absolute classic FFS bandwagon failure. It's all set up perfectly. Doesn't mean I won't be drawn into it though! Pesky cheap bandwagons.Open Controls-
Just stick to your beloved Boselli. At least you won't have any expectations! 😉
Open Controls -
Not at the cost of Boselli, surely?
Open Controls -
-
Then you get people who are considering taking a punt - against their better judgement - and want other people to do the same to help soften the blow if it all goes wrong.
Open Controls
-
-
If I've learned anything about fantasy football it's this: Graham > Petric
These players who show form over preseason nearly always have a quiet start (FPL-wise) and we all look back and say "why did we get sucked in".
The unglamorous, 'obvious' picks are the ones that do wellOpen Controls-
The year we went down, we were 100% in Pre-Season. Sickener.
Open Controls -
I dont agree with your reasoning but do agree with Graham over Petric. I also think that Fulhams fixtures are not as good as they seem to be.
Open Controls-
I guess it's not an exact science but just an observation.
I think pre-season form shouldn't be taken as an indication that the player will perform well in the league is what I'm getting at.Open Controls
-
-
I agree that Graham will be a better pick. But it's so bloody tempting when someone new to these shores has an impressive pre-season (even if pre-season means nothing at all).
Open Controls-
Yes. Tempting it is. I would love to pick Petric and him get off to a flyer with everyone else slow to get in on the action, but it's more likely that he will sit in my team with a collection of 1s and 2s until a few gameweeks in when I begrudgingly transfer him out at a 0.2m+ loss
Open Controls
-
-
-
I think this is going to be a huge fail of a bandwagon, but im driving this 😀
Open Controls -
Are we calling Petric an official bandwagon now? Might have to jump off if it is.
Open Controls-
The signs are all there ... 😉
Open Controls
-
-
-
With Torres' not preforming in pre season and rotation risk in the Chelsea midfield, anyone thinking of playing "safe" and captaining Aguero?
Open Controls-
-
I have it on Torres but im considering Cole or Aguero.
Open Controls
-
-
Well, it's going to be difficult, as he is not in my team ... 😉
Open Controls-
You ought to remedy that 😉
Open Controls
-
-
I call it sensible
Open Controls -
thinking but probably not doing
Open Controls
-
-
Morning all. Apologies if this has been done to death already but....with the rumour mill hotting up on Man U closing in on RVP, how does everybody see this influencing their forward line (where they to sign him)? Presumably RVP would push Roo in to the deeper role? I've currently got Rooney but he will be straight out if this transfer goes through. Moreover I won't be jumping straight on the RVP bandwagon either (at least not until thI've seen some evidence that he can carry his Arsenal form across).
Open Controls -
Anyone care to name the top 4 mil defenders. BTW just read this morning that Demel is out for 2 weeks with eye injury
Open Controls-
Shit! Really? Urggghhh. That means Reid. God help us.
Open Controls-
actually sorry to post that I just searched for the source and the news is 3 weeks old 😀 SORRY
