While we’re still largely in the dark on the extent of Sergio Aguero’s knee injury, sustained after nine minutes of Sunday’s 3-2 win for City, there were developments post-match which offer some further insight.

Aguero put down the frozen peas long enough to turn to his Twitter feed and update on the state of his knee injury, offering a semblance of reassurance…

“The studies I had done revealed there’s no significant injury but it was a very tough hit to my knee.”

He then went on to confirm that a full prognosis is likely within the next 24-hours, with City medical staff presumably waiting for the swelling to reduce before making their assessment…

“Tomorrow, the physicians will evaluate the time it will take for me to recover.”

The buzz on the social network site follows quotes from Roberto Mancini which expressed concern for the injured striker.

“I am worried about Sergio because anything around the knee is dangerous and this injury was so strange. We will have to wait, but we are not sure exactly what the problem is at this point… It was so strange because there was no issue with the tackle. It was not a strong tackle, and Sergio wanted to play on…Maybe he is out for a week, or three or four weeks, or until after the international break. We have to see.”

Meanwhile, City’s skipper Vincent Kompany has backed Edin Dzeko to step up should Aguero face a prolonged spell on the sidelines…

“Any team which loses a player like Sergio will have to deal with a blow. But I remember last season that we had to miss out on Carlos (Tevez) for a long time and we managed to cope all right…I obviously hope Sergio won’t be injured for that long but I just go back to last season when we had to cope with these kinds of issues. It’s not a surprise that Edin Dzeko scored.”

The Daily Mail have jumped the gun somewhat and proclaimed that Aguero will return to action “within weeks” but the truth is, until City declare the results of scans, expected today, we can only speculate on the likely length of absence.

Aguero is clearly a doubt for the trip to Liverpool this weekend and, with an international break looming after Gameweek 3, it could be that City are handed the opportunity to give Ageuro a decent recovery time with a return in Gameweek 4.

Plenty of Fantasy managers reacted to yesterday’s events with an immediate transfer. Aguero has been sold by almost 40,000 managers in the Fantasy Premier League game, more than any other player. With Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie on show this evening, we can surely expect heavy transfer activity involving Aguero to come.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

as a spurs fan i think he wanted to unveil him at home agains wba where he should get a good game with clean sheet. i'm fully behind avb, possibly not for this season but for the future. However if he doesn't start vert soon then i think he leaves himself open to critisism if we lose

It's Big Brad that worries me slightly. He was trying to play a shorter sweeper role AVB likes but it really wasn't working. He sort of grimaced and felt forced to kick long a few times. AVB no likey I think. The 1st goal wasn't too long after.

He can also play left back and since BAE isn't really that good, he may end up playing there.

If Vertonghen doesn't start against WBA, I'm ditching him unfortunately

Say either Rooney or RVP do well tonight...

Are people going to go Torres -> RVP/Rooney straight away or waiting until Torres plays his second game on Wednesday?

(when I say do well I mean maybe a goal but not well enough for them to rise in price straight away)

Might postpone. Have Ivan, Lamps and Torres to shift. So I think Lamps --> Everton midfielder is priority unless they plack cack tonight. Then I'll see about Torres --> RVP/Rooney after GW3

Why is bringing in an Everton mid so essential?

        Already have Pienaar myself.
Tossing up between Mata/N'Zog -> Michu OR Torres -> RVP/Rooney

I haven't seen it being discussed that often, maybe I just missed it.

The reason I definitely wanted an Everton attacker in my squad from the start (when for Pienaar cos I have no doubt he's underpriced) is that you'd expect Everton to get a goal in every game between gameweeks 2 and 13. A budget player who you can put in and play every week for a period of 12 gameweeks is an absolute chuffing luxury.

You have one that can be used whenever you want. The second can only be used after GW21 until GW24. I'd recommend saving the first one until March or April. A lot of double gameweeks and injuries.

Kacaniklic not worth the hit even though they have good fixtures coming up. He is not completely nailed on and I do not want to take hits for "bench players" even though you might play him in some of the three upcoming weeks. Basically, he must produce a goal/assist or get some bonus points and Guthrie does nothing to justify the trade.

For my third Chelsea player after Torres and that heinous human being John Terry, it was a flip between Ivanovic and Ramires. It appears I picked the wrong one! Sure it was annoying but you win some you lose some, I move on.

I was more annoyed with Fatty scoring a traditional jammy penalty. I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone score so many penalties underneath a keeper. It’s as if he hits them that poorly the keeper expects it to come at him faster than it ever does and it slithers underneath.

is not the totalfpl.com price rise/fall working?
How is the FISO crack the code working? I was looking at Michu yesterday and though he was not up for a rise because he did not have 100% increase in net transfers in.. however, his price rised during the night. Can someone please tell me how to figure whether a player is up for a rise on FISO?

I was thinking on buying Michu before his price is exploding, but now it is to late 🙁

But if you have a team worth £100m, you can still do Ramires -> Michu, but you can't do N'Zogbia -> Michu (for example).

I would rather not time price rises, but make them as soon as possible in the face of an imminent rise.

Spending an extra 0.1 messes you up because you can effectively only have a team that would have been worth 99.5 at season start.

Allen out Dyer in for me, Rio will get game time when fit, Ramires will chip in here or there but Joe Allen in that Liverpool team will bring you no luck. Allen out Dyer in now(Don't forget Laudrup wants the wingers to play more narrow, to support Graham more, meaning they will take a certain amount of goals this season)

Also, it's someting you did think about, which is great. It's a bit of a D'oh moment but everyone can't get superlucky on all their picks. You could chose ivanovic, hazard + lamps or cahill rameries and Mata - the thinking behind it is basically sound.

This is so difficult.. I have the last two seasons used my wildcard in round 2 or 3. And that has been a success because that I have been able to build up a high team value from the start.

But is it to early to do it now?

Because I am thinking for example mata --> Hazard, pogrebnyak --> petric, cazorla/Noble --> michu and torres --> rooney (if he performs well tonight). And I think it is key to do this with the price exploders. Or do you guys think it is way to early and that I should be more relaxed with respect to price changes?

Mata to Hazard is completely pointless as Mata could easily score 2 in the next game. You chose Mata over Hazard so there is no reason to switch back unless Mata got injured.

Petric could be a good buy, but not against United where Fulham have failed to score in the last 4 attempts at Old Trafford. Maybe get Graham.

Don't sell Cazorla, he is quality and will get points on the board very soon. I am even considering getting him in GW3 for Lampard. Noble to Michu could work if you can afford.

Wait till tonight's game to see whether you need Rooney. All in all, it's too early to wildcard with so much uncertainty around.

thank you mate. good words of advice here. I'm just so stressed, but after your comment I have decided not to rush into things.

I can afford Noble to Michu, but then I can't afford doing Torres --> Rooney so that is a little scary as that was my initial plan to do. (only 0.9 left if I do noble -> michu)

Maybe go Torres -> Graham instead of trying to catch the Michu train (which has already left the station).

This should free up enough money to get in Bale, who should be in amongst the goals and assists, especially after AVB gets the sack.

Wildcarding on the back of a single gameweek's performances doesn't make sense to me.

I see the wildcard as an emergency measure that you can activate for scenarios where injuries/suspensions/player transfers mean that you may not be able to field a full compliment of players or to take full advantage of a double gameweek near the end of the season.

Remember that you chose your initial squad of players because you had appraised those as potentially doing well. I think that initial opinion can still be valid in the light of a single week of performances.

For example, Cazorla and Podolski gave me 5 points combined, which is disappointing. I'm not going to wildcard them out now though.

Had a bit of a shocker first week, but not going for drastic changes!

    My team is:

    DDG - Jaaskelainen
    Gunter - Cole - Lescott - Clyne - Demel
    Guthrie - Silva - Bale - McClean - Pienaar
    Graham - Aguero - Torres

Still got my free transfer, should I sub Aguero to Tevez? If the injury isn't that long for Aguero, how much will Tevez play for City? Doing that gives me an extra 2.5 to spend as well, but don't wanna have a big spender lying on the bench.

Also, for GW3 who would be a good sub for Torres? Demba Ba /; Rooney / Someone else?
