As the transfer window edges a little nearer to closing, David Moyes continued to bolster Everton’s attacking options with the purchase of Belgian international Kevin Mirallas from Olympiacos on a four- year contract. The 24-year old arrives at Goodison Park in a deal rumoured to be around £5m and is the Toffees’ third acquisition of the summer, following the signings of Steven Pienaar and Steven Naismith:

David Moyes has wasted little time in his quest to re-invest the cash acquired for the sale of Jack Rodwell to Man City and the Everton boss was delighted to clinch Mirallas’ signature after a host of clubs were linked with a move for the player. Speaking to the club’s official website upon completion of the move, Moyes explained:

We’re really pleased to get Kevin. He’ll hopefully add a bit of quality to the squad, give us some more options and we need him. We’ve lost one of two players so we’re delighted to get Kevin in.

The Statistics

Mirallas’ career began as a youth in his native country with Standard Liege but he was snapped up by French outfit Lille before he could make a single first-team appearance. Mirallas struggled to establish himself as a regular over his four seasons at the Ligue 1 club, however, and, although he finally nailed down a place in his final campaign, a return of 10 goals and seven assists in 76 appearances saw him sold to St Etienne in the summer of 2008.

The Belgian continued to struggle during his time in France, however; over two campaigns with “Les Verts” he managed a mere three goals and three assists in 53 league matches before making his way to Olympiacos on a one-year loan deal. Mirallas was an instant impact in his new surroundings –14 goals and a trio of assists in 27 games saw him fire the club to the league title and earn a permanent contract at the Greek outfit. Last term he was even more clinical, with 20 goals and seven assists in 25 matches helping the club retain the title. Mirallas has represented his country at every level from Under 16 to Under 21 and has scored five times in 26 appearances for the Belgian senior side.

The Prospects

There’s no doubt Mirallas will add a much-need attacking threat to a Toffees side that struggled to find the net last term until the January arrival of Nikica Jelavic from Glasgow Rangers. His versatility could be key in assessing the 6 foot Belgian’s game time – he can play on either wing, in “the hole” or also lead the line. At the moment, it’s a case of “wait and see” and bearing in mind he was signed after the deadline to be eligible for last night’s United match, we could see our first glimpse at the weekend away to Villa.

Intriguingly, Mirallas was used to great effect as an inverted winger on the left by Olympiacos, cutting inside on to his favoured right foot to devastating effect. Such a move could see Pienaar used more centrally – it’s worth noting that the South African briefly featured in “the hole” in a pre-season match and with Moyes keen to ease Naismith back into fitness after the summer signing spent much of last season injured at Rangers, it’s certainly an option. Alternatively, Mirallas could tuck in behind Jelavic in Moyes’ preferred 4-5-1 – a move which would see compatriot Marouane Fellaini drop into a deeper role – or he could move to the right, where his arrival could well impact on the likes of Leon Osman.

Mirallas has yet to be added to any of the Fantasy games, with his classification key to how we assess him. A price between 6.5 and 7.5 perhaps seems the likeliest of outcomes in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) regardless of classification, though with Pienaar at 6.5 and Jelavic 8.5, he’ll face a struggle to oust either in many a Fantasy managers’ estimations.

With their home clash against United now out the way, Everton now face a tricky schedule that sees them hit the road in five of the next seven Gameweeks. Bearing in mind that one of their two home matches is against Newcastle, Fantasy managers will be content to keep their distance, holding back any major investment in Mirallas until his place within Moyes’ plans becomes far more apparent.

Repost from the other day. I've amended the mistakes I've made, and what other people have contributed regarding price rises and falls. If I've missed anything or got something incorrect, please reply.

    LONG POST ALERT!

    1. Price falls are percentage based. Price rises have a threshold.

Price falls only kick in when a player decreases in total ownership by a set percentage. I think it's 10% or so.

Aguero getting 50,000 transfers out compared to Song’s 25,000 does NOT mean he’s going to fall because Aguero is owned by a lot more people, and 50,000 is not the required percentage for him to drop.

Price rises on the other hand kick in when a player has reached a certain number of transfers in. A raw number not a percentage. The number is estimated at around 25,000 to 40,000 at the moment, but we're still waiting on more info to get a precise number.

    2. Price changes always occur in 0.1 increments.

Currently, it seems TotalFPL have the most accurate calculator for price rises, and when a player hits 100% or more, he’ll go up in price. But if he has a 200% increase in transfers, that does NOT mean he’ll go up 0.2. He’ll only go up 0.1 which leads to the next thing…

    3. Transfers beyond those required for a rise get reset when the rise occurs.

So say Michu needed 30,000 transfers to get a rise. If he got 50,000 when the rise occurs, he’s back to having 0 transfers in or out and needs to build those transfers to the required amount to get the next rise.

    4. Multiple price rises in a week have different NTI requirements.

Let’s say Michu has 10,000 owners before the weekend and you need 30,000 transfers to go up in price (numbers theoretical). He'll go up in price when he hits 40,000 owners. The next rise however requires double the original NTI threshold. So that means Michu now needs to get 60,000 transfers in for him to rise in price again. So he'll only go up that next 0.1 when he reaches 100,000 owners. Then the next rise the threshold is trebled from the original which means he now needs 90,000 transfers in to go up again.

As you can see, the fact that the threshold keeps increasing within a gameweek means a player is highly unlikely to go up more than 0.2 in one gameweek.

However, once the new gameweek starts, the threshold is returned to the original amount, and some players typically get an automatic increase the night after the new gameweek deadline.

    5. Players are protected but not immune from price drops when flagged.

Players who are yellow and red flagged are still affected by transfers in and out, but there is a percentage increase for when they actually drop in price.

An example is Aguero. Let's say he has 100,000 owners. The percentage decrease for a price drop is 10% (numbers theoretical). He would go down in price when he reached 90,000 owners. However, when he's red flagged, the percentage needed for a price drop goes up by 2.5x which means he needs 25% of his ownership to go down in order to get the drop instead.

    6. Price rises occur at a set time.

Price rises, from experience, usually occur at the same time. It’s rumored to be around 3am BST.

keep Torres for now, wait for Ade to come through, I am holding my FT this week, might do Torres to Ade and Ivanovic to Baines, then lose VdV another week.

how much should i trust that Ade news from SKY?

i can pick up Ade in a draft-style league (no one picked him before the season, as he wasn't going to play), but I don't want to get him on my team to only have the deal fall through, and someone pick up Graham (who i'll drop for Ade).

          What to do, gents?!

Despite doing well this week, it's crystal clear I have got quite a few problems.

Getting rid of 2/3 of the Chelsea players (Cole, Ivanovic, Torres), Aguero, & Marveaux are in my transfer priorities.

          Vorm, Federici
          Cole, Ivanovic, Demel, Hangeland, Zabaleta
Piennar, Michu, Noble, Bale , Marveaux
          Torres, Bent , Aguero

While we are still waiting for Mancini on the Aguero news, chances are dim that he will return before the international break. So working under that assumption, need for Utd cover and Tevez, this is my current thinking

          a) Aguero->Tevez
          b) Torres->RVP
          c) A.Cole/Ivanovic->Rafael

These moves are broken down over the next 2 weeks, so I might down only Aguero->Tevez this week (cash restraints on Torres->RVP).

          Basic idea is fine, right?

Ive went for Aguero to RVP and then the option of Torres to Tevez/Ade next GW. I think Torres against NEW is better than Tevez vs Liv

I'm definitely playing Torres against Newcastle at home, but would like to start Tevez alongside him. Can't afford Aguero to RVP directly, have to raise the cash from somewhere.

              Rly? I sincerely doubt it.

He is on 28368 NTI with the threshold expected to be about 38,000 and definitely more than 32,000.

does anything over 100% on TotalFPL mean a 0.1 rise?

          HI guys !

I'm french and i read in Eurosport.fr that RVP will be benched against Fulham.

          Link : http://www.eurosport.fr/football/premier-league/2012-2013/on-n-a-pas-vu-van-persie_sto3394117/story.shtml

At the end of the post, SAF says : "C'est un grand joueur et c'est toujours tentant avec un joueur de ce calibre. Mais le meilleur chemin à prendre, c'est qu'il débute sur le banc."

Translate : "This is a great player and it is always tempting with a player of this caliber. But the best path to take is that it starts on the bench."

your sure he said that in response to fulham? or he said that as the reason he benched him against everton?

Even a translation of a translation of SAF wouldn't sound like that

hiya, I speak French and have just read that article, to me it reads 'the best way is that he makes his debut from the bench'. But does débuter in this sense mean making his debut or does it mean start the match as you think?

          Kagawa and Williams

          Or

          McLean and Baines

Have RVP already for Man U coverage.
