The first gameweek of the season concludes tonight at Stamford Bridge, as Chelsea look to take an early lead at the top of the Premier League with victory over Reading. Their commitments in next week’s Super Cup brought this fixture forward, and the Dugout Discussion opens in anticipation of delightful double-gameweek points.

The team news for tonight’s encounter is in, and the sides will line-up as follows…

Chelsea XI: Cech, Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Cole, Lampard, Ramires, Mikel, Mata, Hazard, Torres.

Reading XI: Federici, Gunter, Pearce, Leigertwood, Harte, Karacan, McAnuff, Guthrie, Gorkss, Pogrebnyak, McCleary.

Both teams make two changes from their opening day line-ups. For the hosts, Ramires has recovered from the illness that kept him out at Wigan, with Ryan Bertrand making way, and Gary Cahill replaces the injured David Luiz. Reading replace Hal Robson-Kanu and Adam Le Fondre with Jem Karacan and Garath McCleary.

    Ivanovic and BAE. Had them both in my team in recent DGW. But have not captained them. Suppose I should be thankful to have been lucky from them both.

    Now I dont have to wait until GW10 for a goal scoring captain. Thanks Nando, now get out

    Lampard limited the Hazard damage nicely. Only about 5 points worse off.

        True. Although if Hazard keeps running at people like that, there could be a steady stream.

        Can't decide which of my 3 Chelsea players I want to ship first though. I don't want any of Terry, Lampard or Torres long-term.

    Why oh why did I swap hazard for mata in a last minute decision after reading that he needed to get some experience in the league first to prove himself!?

    On holiday and only managed to catch the second half. ESPN here is crap and hasn't actually said who scored in the first half. Shouldn't be surprised as it was the same with all the other games I watched too.

    FPL also won't load for crap for me so can anyone tell me who scored and assisted Chelsea's first goal and Reading's goals. Cheers.

    I'm thinking Hazard has reached essential status. Was a class player. Just glides past players and his close control is immense while running at speed. The 4th goal summed him up perfectly. Daniel 'Me Me Me' Sturridge would have hit the shot from wide with Federici out the goal but Hazard does the sensible thing and ensures the goal. What a guy.

      That's what I thought before the CC and had him captain. Unfortunately I heard about the CC and transferred him out for Mata (c)! Cost me 38 points!!

        Yeah he actually was really effective when he came on tonight. I just mean in general he will do something really good then spoil it by being too greedy. He did give Chelsea more options when he came on though.
