Eden Hazard is the main provider for Chelsea in a thrilling 4-2 win over Reading. Penalty duties bring Frank Lampard another respectable Fantasy score, Branislav Ivanovic notches in back-to back matches, while even Fernando Torres gets amongst the goals – sweet relief for a huge number of armband owners.

Eden Hazard
The Belgian continued in the same vein as Sunday’s game at Wigan and has wasted no time in announcing himself to Fantasy managers as a strong source of points amongst the Chelsea midfield conundrum. Having supplied assists for three Chelsea goals in last night’s narrow victory over Reading, Hazard now has five to his name already in a superb start to life at Stamford Bridge. Neck and neck for ownership with Juan Mata leading into Gameweek 1, Hazard’s more direct role for the Blues looks set to see him rocket in ownership despite a blank Gameweek 3 – the Spaniard, on the other hand, still seems lethargic from a lack of a summer break; the upcoming international break will be crucial to his chances of returning to the Fantasy force we were accustomed to last season.

Fernando Torres
Finally, he produced. It was just a single goal but the overwhelming armband favourite gave us something to smile about with a tap-in to put Chelsea 3-2 ahead. With Frank Lampard once again benefitting from spot-kick duties and Hazard dazzling as part of the attacking midfield three, Torres could struggle to keep his place in many a team – with the blank Gameweek 3 to follow, his home clash against Newcastle this weekend could be his final game for plenty of Fantasy teams as we begin to reassess our frontline options.

Branislav Ivanovic
Notching for the second successive match, the Serbian is now just one goal off equalling last term’s tally after slotting home the fourth last night. Like Hazard, his displays over the two games have earned Ivanovic a price rise prior to the game against Newcastle but with Chelsea still heavily expected to bring another right-back to the club, question marks are still against his long-term prospects. If the Blues fail to bring in someone else for his position, though, Ivanovic’s 6.6 price tag is unlikely to deter many.

Pavel Pogrebnyak
The Russian made his way into 17% of Fantasy teams ahead of the double Gameweek and, despite a change of tactics from Brian McDermott, Pogrebnyak kept his place in the side as Reading moved to 4-5-1; perhaps a sign of McDermott’s formation for away matches. His Premier League record of a goal every two games continued last night; Pogrebnyak had previously scored six in 12 for Fulham and a towering header at the Bridge suggests he could be a very handy cut-price third striker in FPL, at just 5.0.

    Noble/Bale/Britton/Kagawa/Yaya Toure

With AVB around anything is possible. I think he tries to make too many changes in one go. He should concentrate on slowly putting his stamp on the team. That would make too much sense though.

    Torres

In order to field 11 in GW 3 I need to take a hit.
    Aguero -> Tevez already done.
Now with 4.3M in the bank I need to swap Robson-Kanu (I expected him to take this penalty in the first game!) for Michu, Kagawa or Pienaar. Even though I have Graham, I am leaning towards Michu.
    Pros and cons:
Michu - not particularly good stats despite a very nice score; doubling up on Swansea; great fixtures; looks to be Swansea's main man.
Kagawa - still don't know much about his projected game time and positions, a bit of a gamble but I have no United attacking cover (just DDG).
Pienaar - I value him higher than Fellaini but somehow I don't think Everton will score many in spite of the good fixtures. I don't have anyone else from Everton.

    What is your advice?

That's a bandwagon and a half. Spurs home to West Brom, United home to Fulham and a Swansea player is top o' the captain poll.

It may work out for them, but I'd much rather one of the other two by far.

Does anyone have any insight into the use of the WC. From past experience what time in the season did you benefit most from using it? Or do you think it's pretty random in that sometimes it works out for you and sometimes it doesn't?

thinking about it... I've had a look at my team and think I'd like to make about 6 transfers... I'll be making good transfers and if I can get all the players I want without losing too much value I'll do it. otherwise I think after gw3 is a good time this year, once the transfer window is closed and we've seen the teams settle a little.

I use it gw 28-30ish to give me a final push. But there's plenty of players who use it GW3 and consistently finish inside the top 10k.

Pretty random - in theory using it at a period when good fixtures change for a number of teams should work, but form of individual players, injuries etc. always messes it up.

I think the idea is to either maximise points or value, so I normally use it during an int break when there's 2 weeks to make trades or save it for a DGW.

you do realise that more transfers aren't done over international breaks since everyone still only has 1 transfer...

there are what? there are 2 reasons I see it as a good time. international injuries and bored waiting for 2 weeks. the more transfers done is a myth.

More transfers, if say 50k people wc then obviously there will be more transfers because they aren't limited. Seemed to work for me last year anyway I was able to gain about 1m through .2m rises. But maybe I'm wrong who knows.

I think you need to sit tight for at least 4-5 gw. Beforethat you don't have a big enough sample size to make judgements on who's going to do well or not, especially as there are still transfers goign on in the real world.

Many choose the end of the first transfer window - just in case there's a few shock moves that unsettle their XI for what ever reason.

      That's my aim.

Many teams look most disjointed after GW1 when starting lineups are known and bandwagons are rolling. So GW2 not a bad idea, although I'm happy with my team so am holding.

Next option is after the transfer window closes and new starting line ups are known.

I like to try and hang onto my WC until there's a juicy DGW later on with top teams. Ideally close to when you can pair it with your other free WC to set up the DGW and then sort it out again.

All depends how crap your team is now

as much as i like the idea of the early doors midfield (Hazard, Michu, Kagawa, Nasri etc) and as much as i'd like to get Ramires + Aguero out for a -4 hit, i think GW2 is a still too early.

at the end of last season, the number of hits hurt and the early GW4 WC didn't help at all.

i know it sounds like i'm trying to talk myself out of doing it but the inevitable injuries, unforeseen DGW's, bad winter etc will, hopefully, prove me right.

(having re-read that, i think i just turned in to my Dad)

I think a hit this week is fine, given that Chelsea have a tough game and then a blank compared to the like's of United / Spurs. I'm taking a 12 pointer, i know your probably thinking I'm nuts but going to load up on RVP + Valencia, with Mata and Torres out.

Exactly. Think back to the last 4-6 GW's of the season when you're trying to finish as high as possible. Only a few points can shoot you a couple of thousand places higher and if you look back at your transfer history and see all those hits you took you could be in a much stronger position.

    Cazrola Bale Mata Michu Guthrie
    Torres Tevez Petric

0.5m in bank. FT not used
    What should i do?
    A) Mata > Valencia/Kagawa ( Leaning towards valencia based on last season..playing at RB worries me though)
    B) Torres > Ade .. But will Ade play next week or will he be eased in. May do it next week
    C) Save the free transfer
    D) Do something else?

Morning everyone. Posted this last night but trying to get more players... Anyone wanna join my league?

Just created it yesterday. It’s called ‘Captain Fantastic’… the idea of the league is sort of like last man standing and your overall points don’t matter. You’re only eligible to enter now if your captain scored 6 or more in GW 1. From then, every GW your captain has to score 6+ to stay in the league, and i’ll kick people out regularly as i look through the teams to see the captain scores. Last man standing wins. Just a bit of fun, trying to get lots of teams in it before the deadline on Saturday.

Anyway the code is : 4-441572
