Eden Hazard is the main provider for Chelsea in a thrilling 4-2 win over Reading. Penalty duties bring Frank Lampard another respectable Fantasy score, Branislav Ivanovic notches in back-to back matches, while even Fernando Torres gets amongst the goals – sweet relief for a huge number of armband owners.

Eden Hazard
The Belgian continued in the same vein as Sunday’s game at Wigan and has wasted no time in announcing himself to Fantasy managers as a strong source of points amongst the Chelsea midfield conundrum. Having supplied assists for three Chelsea goals in last night’s narrow victory over Reading, Hazard now has five to his name already in a superb start to life at Stamford Bridge. Neck and neck for ownership with Juan Mata leading into Gameweek 1, Hazard’s more direct role for the Blues looks set to see him rocket in ownership despite a blank Gameweek 3 – the Spaniard, on the other hand, still seems lethargic from a lack of a summer break; the upcoming international break will be crucial to his chances of returning to the Fantasy force we were accustomed to last season.

Fernando Torres
Finally, he produced. It was just a single goal but the overwhelming armband favourite gave us something to smile about with a tap-in to put Chelsea 3-2 ahead. With Frank Lampard once again benefitting from spot-kick duties and Hazard dazzling as part of the attacking midfield three, Torres could struggle to keep his place in many a team – with the blank Gameweek 3 to follow, his home clash against Newcastle this weekend could be his final game for plenty of Fantasy teams as we begin to reassess our frontline options.

Branislav Ivanovic
Notching for the second successive match, the Serbian is now just one goal off equalling last term’s tally after slotting home the fourth last night. Like Hazard, his displays over the two games have earned Ivanovic a price rise prior to the game against Newcastle but with Chelsea still heavily expected to bring another right-back to the club, question marks are still against his long-term prospects. If the Blues fail to bring in someone else for his position, though, Ivanovic’s 6.6 price tag is unlikely to deter many.

Pavel Pogrebnyak
The Russian made his way into 17% of Fantasy teams ahead of the double Gameweek and, despite a change of tactics from Brian McDermott, Pogrebnyak kept his place in the side as Reading moved to 4-5-1; perhaps a sign of McDermott’s formation for away matches. His Premier League record of a goal every two games continued last night; Pogrebnyak had previously scored six in 12 for Fulham and a towering header at the Bridge suggests he could be a very handy cut-price third striker in FPL, at just 5.0.

Who want’s to talk to me about PLayer Exchange?

    Anyone do well?

I noticed the top guys put all thier shares in just 1 players and that player happened to do well.

I spread mine over about 6 players and had 14 total (just 1 share in the other 8 guys)

Finished rank 1,075 which seems good but there’s only 30k players!

    Tactics anyone?

Sorry in advance for the repost. Posted this last night but trying to get more players... Anyone wanna join my league?

Just created it yesterday. It’s called ‘Captain Fantastic’… the idea of the league is sort of like last man standing and your overall points don’t matter. You’re only eligible to enter now if your captain scored 6 or more in GW 1. From then, every GW your captain has to score 6+ to stay in the league, and i’ll kick people out regularly as i look through the teams to see the captain scores. Last man standing wins. Just a bit of fun, trying to get lots of teams in it before the deadline on Saturday.

Anyway the code is : 4-441572

on the other hand normal leagues lose point for 90% of the players after 10 gameweeks. In H2Hs especially when you have playoffs in the end there is a possibility for most active managers to qualify and win.

good morning all - been trying to think of a change for my mid - particularly Ramires who needs to leave my team. Looking at the next two fixtures a Spurs player seems like an ideal choice however i already have Bale. Would you guys go for

    A) Siggurdson?
i fear for his gametime, will he be subject to rotation with VDV? He only played 67 mins - seems a lot to pay for someone not likely to play 90 mins

    B) Kagawa?
I already have Rooney up front, but perhaps this could be the wise choice?

    C) Any other options? I already have Dyer, so thinking of passing on Michu.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated

No need to look at Michu, and I think two Spurs mids is a bit much considering that we aren't even sure who is preferred by AVB. I like the look of McClean, I think he will have a very good game against Reading and overall have a decent season. However if you want to look at Spurs wait till AVB's press conference later today 🙂

DGW clear-out time. Two out of five must go.

    Ivan, Mata, Torres, Guthrie, Gorkss

Seems obvious to keep Ivan and Guthrie and do Bale for Mata, but which other one to keep? Seems crazy to transfer 4.0m defenders in GW2, but tempted to keep Torres until at least the Man U/Ade start situation cleared up. Standard 2.0m in bank.

    Thoughts?

Just watched Chelsea highlights. What exactly did Torres do that was so wrong?

Seems to be getting slated for something that isnt really his fault. If your playing as a lone striker and no one is giving you the ball what are you supposed to do?

I agree - Torres was excellent. Commentators (TalkSports) thought his movement was outstanding - just didn't get enough service from the MFs.

This is very true, he gets little or no service, Ramirez hit a tame shot instead of squaring it and the rest of the time he's chasing after scraps. I'm sure if he were at a United/Arsenal he'd be scoring quite a few goals.

I watched the game, he missed a 3 yard header and was generally lacklustre with the ball at his feet.

Do you want a striker who isn't getting the ball from his teammates?

Agree that you wouldnt want a striker that no one wants to pass to I just feel a lot of criticism is unfairly thrown his way.

And if Ramires would have played him in early on when he was wide open in the box I think most people would be praising him for a 2 goal haul.

Wasn't he 2 yards offside? Can't have it both ways.

Ramires was terrible too as was Mata and the full backs Ivanovic and Cole were roasted in the first half on several ocassions. So not just picking on Torres.

He wasn't excellent. There were a good few occasions when the ball was played up to him and his first touch was really poor. Just kept bouncing off him. And I counted about 5 or 6 balls played in the air that he wasn't challenging the Reading CB for at all which isn't ideal. His game picked up in the 2nd half and it will do him good to get on the scoresheet early.

Granted it's not easy leading the line on your own and when he is heavily marked the way he usually is then Chelsea midfielders will benefit more as we saw last night. Torres won't be a great FF pick imo. More threat coming from the three in behind.

I played lone striker for three seasons, and what you do is remind your dumb team mates that you are a lone striker, and it's harder to score prolifically when you have not one, but two ugly centre backs kicking lumps out of you.

And make sure you take the penalties.

Apologies if this sounds silly but how much can you really benefit from your team value shooting up? It means your players are worth more which means they are performing well and you are more likely to hang on to them. Would the best time to take advantage of this be when are playing a WC later in the season and your value is at it's peak?

He's scored once in the premier league and twice in the champions' league.

Wenger does want him to add more goals to his game.

best time to do it is during an international break, esp. If some players explode the week before like Dzeko did against Spurs last season. You can really gain good money then. Plus it gives you something to do fantasy-wise for 2 weeks 😀

Yeah, that's obvious choice innit, and was my first thought too.

However, I got to thinking that United will probably keep a clean sheet against Fulham at Old Trafford, so that's points for Vidic. Vidic is also known to score goals, so if he did a bit of an Ivanovic, I could profit from giving him the armband.

Does anyone fancy Graham for captain?
