Has a stitched Wayne Rooney made things simple? Have we already got the template attacking lineup? Certainly Robin Van Persie’s goal, coupled with the injury to Rooney that looks to have sidelined him for a month, suggests that the source of attacking points at United is settled. Unless, of course, you’re committing to the slick trickery of Shinji Kagawa over Van Persie’s pure goal power.

City’s Carlos Tevez surely has another spot up front reserved for him and, while Fernando Torres is doing his upmost to cling to our affections, Eden Hazard’s irresistible form surely means that we have a preferred route to Chelsea’s flowing attacking points.

After just two weeks, a combination of Van Persie, Tevez and Hazard appears to give the very best coverage of potentially the three most potent teams in the league.

You can argue around this – Kagawa, Samir Nasri and Torres all offer the alternatives but, right now, while these words are typed, I’m struggling to see past this new holy trinity as the most powerful combination.

Throw in Michu, Steven Pienaar or Mauroanne Fellaini – perhaps dabble with Danny Graham up front while Swansea’s fixtures remain favourable, or even Emmanuel Adebayor to cover Tottenham’s attacking threat, and the template after Gameweek 2 begins to look solid.

As we discussed in the ScoutCast this week, there will be new names emerging that will threaten to break the ideas we have now but, in all honesty, it’s difficult to see Van Persie, Tevez and Hazard being anything other than season keepers; barring injury.

It can’t really be that simple and yet the twist of fate that saw Rooney first benched and then stretchered down the tunnel, almost rubber-stamped matters. There will surely be thousands scrambling for Van Perise, even more suitors for Hazard after another bout or returns from this evening’s victory. Meanwhile, Tevez has Liverpool in his sights tomorrow with a clear run of appearances while Sergio Aguero recuperates.

If you currently sit on all three, congratulations; please fight back the smugness. If you’ve none of the above, cling to the hope that there’s naivety in these words and that these power houses will falter. Either that, or scrub up for some serious squad surgery.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I suppose in a weird way this GW wasn't so bad for wildcarding because it was so ridiculously dramatic and certain players are obviously being ridden like Coleen. The GW3 blanks for Chelsea and Reading just make the action more frenzied 😉

Ta. I read your earlier post. In a way, this choice is partly one about payback. I'm not sure I can face having all this new information yet struggle along trying not to take hits with a team full of bad gambles - for another 19 GWs or so - in the hope that keeping the WC is going to yield me a huge DGW. We know how DGWs go - in fact I think this DGW caused me a bunch of problems.

Just want to back some winners and take it slow from there.

Put it another way, I want to actually enjoy playing this game and I don't think I can playing a team I feel is substandard every week in the hope of a big gold bar DGW at the end that may well be a big disappointment.

Am I the only lucky son of a gun with enough money to bring in RVP for Torres on a free? Granted, I'll have Cole and Gunter but my GW3 team looks sexy enough without them. Really wish Tevez's rise didn't catch me out, I could have had Hazard/Michu/RVP/Ade/Tevez within a few weeks, proper dream team :/

Guys any chance Sunderland's rearranged fixture might happen in gw3 despite the carling cup? I cannot tell you how important it is that you take me seriously, Adam Johnson's future depends on it.

Doubtful, but that is based on nothing. There really isn't any rush for them to do it in GW3, when neither squad has Europe to deal with, and when there will surely be other weeks coming when both of them have been eliminated from the Capital One Cup.

    Moves I am considering:
Valencia -> Kagawa (sideways move maybe but RVP's monopolization of set pieces is cutting into Valencia's value)
Bent -> Cissé/Ba (Villa suck and Newcastle will probably put a few past them. I worry about the # of games Newcastle will play though)
Fabio -> Cuellar (QPR are shit and Sunderland are not)

I don't like it. Find the .5 for Jussi or someone of the like. Good safety net. Especially come the winter when snow can cancel games.

I'm actually worried about de Gea being rotated and am considering downgrading him to Howard for the extra security. Probably silly, but I don't have anything overly pressing and doing so will give me the funds to get Hazard for GW4.

You would think, but it seems too big of a risk for me to not get Hazard for GW4. I was hoping for a quiet game today to stem the price rise. No such luck.

I'm sitting on Bale and am having trouble justifying getting rid of him with their great fixtures. Looking for another way, even if it involves a hit.

Hmm ... way too much money in net. Weak defence. No strikers. You can field a decent team next week by getting rid of rooney and maybe upgrading a defender. 4 point hit looks in order. Think of downgrading a goalie in the near future. I would get rid of de Gea and keep Vorm.

Sigh, Nzog is such a fail, should have trusted my instincts that Lambert and Villa would fail. Still might be able to make my planned transfers.

    gw3) Torres to RVP
    gw4) Valencia to Hazard
    gw5) Nzog to Pienaar

    Any thoughts?

Not sure about the two midfield transfers. Especially their order. As long as they don't rise/fall by another 0.1 overall I should be able to afford it all.

yes, people try to avoid price rise, leading to more people getting him in

My team going into gwk 3 is

    DDG (Federici)
    Lescott Saylor Hangeland Demel Barnett
    Silva Michu Maloney (Guthrie, Hazard)
    RVP - Graham (Torres)

Which transfer will best benefit my team going into gwk 3 considering I do not want to transfer out hazard or torres.

Not that bad at all imo. I agree with the above, Roon to RVP and complete the free transfers to make any fixes, i.e. getting DDG out of goal.

What are peoples plans for Torres, after his quite literally superb performance today?...especially considering that he has the immense talent of eden hazard in behind him

    De Gea Federici
    Baines Lescott Hangeland Demel Tierney
    Bale Nasri Michu Noble Guthrie
    RVP Tevez Graham

Have my WC activated and have 0.7 in the bank, any more changes I should do to fix up anything here?

don't like nasri. when silva returns to full fitness he probably won't be playing every game, particularly if the 3-4-1-2 starts happening again. tierney is no longer nailed on due to garrido's arrival. looks pretty good though.

since you are wildcarding, you should look long term, not only for the next GW.
Hazard IMO is a must for the future, so get him in.
you can also ride his price rise along the way
