Sir Alex Ferguson has handed Fantasy managers a major boost this morning by revealing Robin Van Persie will be fit to face Wigan tomorrow afternoon. The Dutchman was subbed off at half-time by Louis Van Gaal in his nation’s 4-1 win over Hungary on Wednesday and with no official club statement, many had feared the worst.

Hardly known for his quick healing powers, Van Persie’s availability is of significant news this weekend, with a substantial majority expected to hand him the captaincy ahead of the Latics clash. With four goals in his first two starts for United, Van Persie has wasted little time in maintaining his outstanding scoring record in the Premier League and with Wayne Rooney still absent due to a thigh injury, Ferguson – like many of us – will be heavily reliant on his summer signing from Arsenal to continuing his scoring spree tomorrow.

Ferguson confirmed at this afternoon’s eagerly-awaited press conference:

On the injury front, everyone’s fit….You always have concerns about players travelling [long distances] in international breaks – we had Chicharito, Valencia and Kagawa. They’ve all done it before, although with Shinji we don’t know exactly how he reacts to travelling back from long distances. Hopefully he’ll be okay.

As the fixture schedule now starts to pick up, Ferguson certainly doesn’t need to take any unnecessary risks. United face Galatasaray at Old Trafford next Wednesday before embarking on a tricky run of league matches which sees them travel to (liv, new, che) and a certain degree of rotation up top can be expected, with the likes of Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez set to pick up more game time over the next few weeks. For now, though, Ferguson’s words have soothed us and offered plenty assurance – we can forge ahead with our Fantasy plans for the weekend with confidence renewed.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

tough, he has matt taylor who was seemingly very good v fulham last game and forgotten man yossi benayoun as competition. given jarvis is just back from injury i'd back taylor to keep his place for 1 more game, although with no carroll he may prefer jarvis' dribbling to taylor's more beckham style wing-play

ok so had a quick look at my transfer plans over the next few weeks as to how to acquire Cazorla. I have 4 options

    a) Rafael to Clark
    b) Rafael to Demel
    c) Hangeland to Demel
    d) Hangeland to Clark

Option d means I can't do Marveaux to Maloney.

    Which option is best?

I guess I am the only one who thinks Rafa is any good. I really prefer him to Valencia. Ofcourse he is a liability in the air, but he always gets better when he puts a run of games together. Hes also the top defender in europe in terms of shots taken 🙂

Hows this team looking like? Feel its slightly weak at the back to accommodate Baines, but think it could pay off nicely.

    Foster (Begovic)
    Baines Jenkinson Cuellar (Clark Demel)
    Hazard Cazorla Michu Pienaar (Maloney)
    RVP Tevez Fletcher

early season it is about breaking away from pack but not losing ground on serious managers, so generic team usually means good so will pull away, then later start to find different players

I have Davies, regretting that decision, Swans have signed a lb. For 4.0 just get Clyne. Rest looks good, but Bale has yet to justify himself as an FPL pick this season.

    Rafael - Cuellar - Baines - (Davies) - (Gorkks)
    Hazard - Cazorla - Michu - Pienaar - (Sterling)
    Fletcher - RVP (c) - Tevez

    a) is my defense to weak?

Just realised that if I wanted to I *COULD* do this over the next few weeks.

    Podolski + Michu -> Berbatov + Silva

(Other players of note who I already have in the squad: Tevez, Cazorla, Routledge so I'm not losing terrible amounts of coverage)

A midfield of Hazard, Cazorla, Silva is pretty sick.

He's out of form now, but do any of us really expect that to last the full season? He's a quality player and he'll be right up there with the top scoring midfielders in the game by the end.

Michu, on the other hand, has had an unsustainable conversion rate in a Swansea side that is much more eager to force it wide to their wingers for attacking production.

I don't know, I probably won't end up doing it - but it's just interesting to note than Michu has risen *so much* that these big hitter moves are getting more attainable.

Michu - his price rise over the first few game weeks has been extraordinary. Do people think he is really a keep for the long term? I imagine most people have jumped on for an easy price rise ride but he has only had 4 shots on target, yes they have all been goals but can he really sustain his amazing start? I'm not sure.

Well he isn't going to score with every shot on target this season or average over a goal a game, no.

I'll be keeping him until his nice fixtures are over though ... about GW8 I think they turn a bit hairy, from memory.

I was discussing this with someone today. I've seen him up close from the United v Fulham game. The guy is friggin huge yet at set-pieces he seems to linger on the edge of the box, he is Fulham's only really aerial threat now Clint has gone, he should be right in the mix, he just isn't. I'm looking at shipping him to either Demel if I keep Rafael, or Huth if I don't

Maybe, but in the 3 away games Blackburn played which preceded the Arsenal drubbing:

          Liverpool 1-1 Blackburn
          Man Utd 2-3 Blackburn
          Everton 1-1 Blackburn

You're right, it probably won't be 7-1 but there's certainly the potential for a bumper haul, all things considered.

WC Team looks like this at the moment:

    Foster - Begovic
    Baines - Cueller - Davies - Demel - Clyne
    Nolan - Guthrie - Michu - Hazard - Cazorla
    Tevez - RVP - ????

Have 7.3m to spend on a 3rd striker, racking my brains over Fletcher or Berbatov. Fletcher is going to get great service, but Berbatov has already shown potential for assists & we all know what he is capable of.

    1. Who's the best option out of Fletcher & Berbatov?
    2. Am I making a mistake not considering other options at around the 6m mark?
    3. Any better options in Nolan's price bracket?

Really not sure who to captain.

I know RVP is every man's choice on here, but I like Wigan atm, and I think it will be a low scoring game. Had it on Hazard all week, but having second thoughts now, and Torres is also in the equation (QPR look pretty awful).
