A game of goals and controversy at Goodison Park brings Gameweek 4 to a conclusion. Here’s the Stock Check from the tonight’s tumultuous 2-2 stalemate…

On the Up

Leighton Baines
We could hardly have pushed the virtues of Baines any harder over the international break and the Everton left-back didn’t take long to demonstrate why. Linking superbly with Steven Pienaar, Baines covered himself in glory with a fine strike to cap another superb display.

Steven Pienaar
Two assists from the South African demonstrated his worth and effectiveness down the Everton left with Baines. Pienaar also threaded the pass for Victor Anichebe’s strike and was only denied further returns by the assistant’s flag. Significantly, despite strong returns from Marouanne Fellaini in the opening games, bonus for Pienaar would take him above the Belgian in the Fantasy Premier League rankings.

Demba Ba
The evening began with the Senegal striker on the timber, only for him to be introduced to turn the game in the second half. A rollercoaster evening for his 16% ownership that ended in confirmation that Ba is the man in form in the Newcastle frontline.

Going Down

Nikaca Jelavic
The Croatian crashed into a post early on and finally relented to the blow just before the break after suffering further knocks. Everton badly missed his influence in the second-half and David Moyes and Jelavic’s Fantasy owners will desperately hoping that he has escaped with a minor setback. We await the prognosis.

Papiss Cisse
Selected ahead of Ba to lead the line, Cisse was again overshadowed by his compatriot. His Fantasy owners will doubtless be twitching with frustration and mystified as to how Cisse’s strike rate has diminished so markedly given last season’s electric form.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

For those thinking Ba will get the 3 Bonus. Defoe played a full game and scored 2 goals for the winning side (extra PPI) and still got 0 bonus. Ba only played half a game and his side got a draw. Game time counts for PPI score too.

Yes, I'll be watching it avidly! Strangely excited for the tournament, despite not being the biggest t20 fan and not having given too much attention to the previous tournaments.

Not overly optimistic about England's chances. Batting line-up doesn't inspire too much confidence, too many hit-and-miss batsmen, there's no one who you would claim to be particularly reliable in there. Also think, Morgan aside, we'll struggle against high class spin bowling.

Jamsiep, I've got my dander up for it too, although T20 isn't my bag really. I rate our chances similarly poorly, No KP, not much chance. I rate our bowling though, so you never know.

I still can't decide whether he should be allowed to return at some point after what he did. The main reason I want him back is because I love cricket and love watching him.

Awful gameweek for me, like many others on here. Seems to me it is a bit of a wait and see week, though. I have not lost faith in RVP or Tevez at all. Hazard and Michu can't score every week. Time to tinker (I have been holding the dreadful de Gea & Fed combo through two straight blanks), but not time to wildcard. I don't love my defenders and need two new keepers, but will plod along for now.

Having watched the whole game I'd be very surprised if Baines gets less than 2. Usually goalscoring defenders get the 3 anyway, but he also got in plenty of blocks and clearances. Much may hinge on whether his attempted cross is counted as a shot off target.

Ba's involvement was much less, but his two goals count for loads in the index. It's a tossup for me as to which will win.

I'm most certainly getting Berbs in later though, but can I afford to wait? I can't agree more with you, Ginkapo. Everyone's forgetting that Fletcher has had fitness problems in the past, and that Fulham are rubbish away.

3 goals in 3.5 games isn't bad at all.

      That's my thinking too

Form vs fixtures OR form and fixtures, ba edges it on paper.

    Jaaskelainen, Begovic
    Baines, Jenkinson, Clark, Hughes, Cuellar
Cazorla, Hazard, Ben Arfa, Dyer, Maloney
    van Persie, Tevez, Lambert

Any transfer ideas? Jenkinson to a WBA or Swans defender seems okay. Maybe ship out Tevez now that Aguero is back?

Deliberating whether to get rid of Graham and Zab for 4 pt hit this week or just leave it and have 2 free transfers the week after.

    I can play:

    Schwarzer
    Rafael, Cashley, Demel
    Ben Arfa, Hazard, Maloney, Yaya
    Graham, RVP (c), Tevez

    Green, Guthrie, Zab, Cuellar.

Not sure I can be arsed doing anything this week. That lot scored poorly this week so I reckon they are due next time up at the plate.
