A huge day of Premier League action sees eight sides do battle, with the ‘Super Sunday’ billing fully justified. The Dugout Discussion opens in time for the first of two televised games – the small matter of Liverpool versus Manchester United.

Despite a lot of the pre-game media attention understandably focusing on events off the field, three points for either side here will be massive. Here’s how the sides line-up…

Liverpool XI: Reina, Kelly, Skrtel, Agger, Johnson, Gerrard, Allen, Shelvey, Borini, Suarez, Sterling.

Man United XI: Lindegaard, Da Silva, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra, Carrick, Giggs, Valencia, Kagawa, Nani, van Persie.

Straight after the game at Anfield, we head over to the Etihad Stadium to see the other Manchester club host Arsenal.

In and amongst those two fixtures, Newcastle United welcome the visit of Norwich City, and Queens Park Rangers take the small journey to their city rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

You can follow all the action from all today’s games in our Dugout Discussion chatroom, which can be accessed right here.

Why are you comparing Kagawa to Park? They don't come from the same country and play very different styles.

Such a waste of a post.

So does RVP if you're basing it off this game. United is getting owned in the middle of the pitch. By a 10 man side. This physical play and having Giggs in a central midfield position doesn't help him or RVP. He looks good for the odd assist or goal, but much better prospects at that price.

    Hi guys,

Just an aside from the game... I need a cheap defender to replace Fabio.
Want to keep it low so I can bring Baines in at a later date (for Ivanovic).

    A. Clyne
    B. Gorkss
    C. Other (please suggest)

    Jaaskelainen - Federici
    Fabio - Ivanovic - Hangeland - Rangel - Cuellar

Re:Evans v Shelvey, according to the strictest interpretation of the rules both should have been sent off. This may be easier to accept without wearing rose tinted glasses. However, referees do in practice use common sense and the the tackles looked like genuine if reckless attempts to play the ball. A yellow for both would have been the most sensible compromise IMO, but I bet the referee had to uphold the FIFA stance against dangerous tackles. He actually grimaces shortly after giving the red.

Had no choice in my opinion.

Do you think that today of all days the ref would have been red card happy unless he really felt he absolutely had no other choice. Shelvey had nearly already taken out one Utd player seconds before that challenge too.

Look, I don't mind people debating Evans role in this but this nonsense about refs being on Utd payroll has to stop.
