Since arriving at Arsenal from Malaga during the summer, Santi Cazorla has added his name to a raft of attacking midfielders Fantasy managers have been keeping a close eye on. As with the likes of the Premier League’s other new attacking recruits such as Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Manchester United’s Shinji Kagawa, though, there was always an element of doubt before the season got under way; could these prestigious talents sparkle in the English top-flight and, as the old saying goes, were they able to cut it on a rainy Tuesday night match at Stoke?

Certainly from his opening two games, Cazorla’s talent was no longer in question as his slick passing and eye for goal from distance left Arsenal fans delighted and Fantasy managers licking their lips in anticipation of a flurry of points. From a Fantasy perspective doubts still remained, though, as his magnificent attacking play failed to unlock the Sunderland and Stoke defences as the Gunners registered back-to-back goalless draws.

In the Gameweek 3 trip to Liverpool, the flood gates opened and at last his potential as a key Fantasy asset was realised when the playmaker produced a goal, assist and two Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points to amass a Gameweek total of 13 points. A further assist for Cazorla followed in the Gameweek 4 demolition of Southampton, with yet another assist, plus two FPL bonus points, in last weekend’s 1-1 draw at the Etihad. By now the writing was well and truly on the wall for Cazorla, who has arrived in a burst of Spanish flair as a proven force to be reckoned with in the Premier League.

For the savvy Fantasy managers, who have been watching Cazorla’s underlying attacking statistics closely during the first part of the season, Gameweek 7 has long been pencilled in as Santi day, when Arsenal’s tough opening fixtures come to an end. After this weekend’s home clash with Chelsea, the prospects look full of promise for strong attacking returns for the Gunners throughout the rest of October (whm, nor, QPR).

There is even strong argument for drafting him in ahead of this run to catch Cazorla before his price rises even further. Initially costing 9.0 in FPL, he has already climbed by 0.3, with over 28,000 Fantasy managers snapping him up this week. There is every chance Cazorla, who is Arsenal’s top points scorer in the FPL game with 30 points, will also be able to unlock a resolute Chelsea defence.

In the Sky Sports game, where he is priced at 6.7m, he is also set to be a key asset having already amassed 43 points, the second highest among the game’s midfielders. In the Sky game Cazorla is arguably even more desirable as bonus points are awarded for successful passes, just one of a number of attributes the bedazzling little Spaniard possesses.

    My team for this GW:
    Foster
    Baines-Ivanovic-Cuellar (first sub Demel if he doesn't play)
    HBA-Bale-Cazorla-Fellaini
    Jelavic-Fletcher-RVP(c)

      Really love it, looks like we were all wrong on Mike Ashley. By the look of it he is one of the best GM/owners around- getting Ba, Cisse, Cabaye, HBA, Colo, Tiote on the cheap, selling Carroll for twice his value now making one of the smartest decisions regarding a coach I have seen in a while( forgetting about the one or two other clubs that have gone that route like Everton, Man U, Stoke)

    I think people are forgetting what rotation really means. For a top player (RVP, Tevez) rotation means missing an occasional game, not playing every other game. It might be reasonable to expect one of these stars to miss 1-in-5 games in a busy period, maybe 1-in-4. All this talk about Tevez not starting on Saturday is over-blown. He played 20 minutes last weekend, then 120 during the week. He can very well be expected to start this weekend, and start again for the CL game mid-week. Add on top of this that Tevez is a proven workhorse - extremely fit, very tough, rarely injured. Keep Tevez - he will reward the patient.

    Lost on the last page..

    Looking for some opinions on this, considering pulling a late wildcard this week and not sure whether it's the right choice... Current and WC teams below...

    Current team

    Foster - Begovic
    Baines - Cole - Demel - Hughes - Cuellar
    Bale - Pienaar - Michu - Nolan - Guthrie
    RVP - Tevez - Podolski

    0.0 in bank

    WC team

    Foster - Begovic
    Baines - Gibbs - Demel - Gorkks - Barnett
    Pienaar - Cazorla - HBA - Michu - Sterling
    Aguero - RVP - Lambert

    0.6 in bank

    Any advice or help would be great!

    Tevez debate in or out for a hit?

    I don't think he'll start and will only come on if we're not winning. Therefore let's say that he's likely to get 1 point unless he scores in his 20 mins on the field

    Meanwhile Berba (or even Ba) are guaranteed to points so you only have a 3 point deficit. This is only the starting point and both have the fixture, class and form to crush this deficit and potentially score big!

    Add to this the fact you get rid of a potential rotation risk for a nailed on starter with good fixtures to come (particularly Berba)

      And next week when he starts against Sunderland at home, all that got rid will be crying as Aguero will be benched cause he cant handle 3 games in a row after the injury and Tevez will get a nice goal and an assist.

      honestly it's a complete toss up, all I would say is pick the one you like better, remember why you picked them and don't give up quickly. their scores ought to be pretty even over the season.

      newcastle ought to score more goals but have more people competing for them.

      Everything is not black and white, Suarez had a more serious violation: it is like asking why a man that stole a loaf of bread got only a fine and the guy who stole a car went to jail.

        how is suarez more serious violation. I disagree, suarez was where the FA truely showed they have no understanding of different cultures and slang/terms used in those cultures.

        Terry on the other hand was caught on camera. Although English law claims him innocent I do not know how FA can charge him?

          In some cultures it is ok to pour acid on a women who refuses to marry you, that does not make it ok everywhere. And as I said an apology goes a long way and Terry tried to reach out to both ferdinands, where Suarez and the entire Liv organisation were trying to cover up the offense.

            It was a cultural difference and Suarez was wrong in what he done im not denying that but he genuinly didnt realise this. Terry knew what he was doing. apologising after doesnt make it ok.

    Hey guys, need some advice on changes for this week.

    ...............................Foster.............Federici...............................

    Demel.......Hangeland......Baines......Cuellar....Saylor

    HBA.........Bale.........Michu.........Noble..........Guthrie

    ......................Tevez..........RVP...........Podolski..................

    I think Tevez will be riding the pine this GW so I am looking at maybe giving him the chop. The other thing that is upsetting me is that I have to choose to play either Noble or Guthrie every week. So bearing that in mind which option would you go for?

    A. Tevez ---> Suarez
    B. Tevez & Noble ----> Fletcher & Fellaini (4points)
    C.HBA & Tevez --------> Aguero & Fellaini (4points)
    D. None of the above

    Thanks guys

        Terry should have known better.

        I think Racism should be kicked out and this looks like a lienent punishment for Terry. Whether you say it once or 20 times is still racist and unacceptable!
