Spurs win at Old Trafford for the first time since 1989 as Andre Villas-Boas’ side triumph in the game of the season so far. Gareth Bale is the main protagonist for the Londoners, as United’s defensive frailties are exposed yet again:

Going Up

Gareth Bale
In a Gameweek where many of the popular midfield picks failed to produce the goods, the Welshman continued his return to form with a goal and pair of assists at Old Trafford. With a home clash against Villa up next, Bale can expect to pick up plenty of interest over the next few days.

Jan Vertonghen
Having found his eye for goal in the midweek Capital One Cup win at Carlisle, Vertonghen notched his first league goal of the campaign as Andre Villas-Boas’ side won for the third Gameweek in a row. With (AVL, sot, WIG) amongst his next four fixtures, the potential for point looks good for the Belgian at both ends of the pitch.

Clint Dempsey
Picked ahead of Gylfi Sigurdsson for the role in “the hole”, the US international vindicated his manager’s decision with his first goal of the season. Dempsey – who has a mere 2% ownership in FPL – could be a real differential pick over the next few games, with a starting berth in the Spurs XI now seemingly assured.

Wayne Rooney
Sent on for Ryan Giggs after the break, Rooney was forced to take up a wider position, with Shinji Kagawa keeping the role behind Robin Van Persie. He made an immediate impact, setting up Nani for United’s first, and with a free-kick hitting the woodwork, he’s offering a real alternative to the Dutchman up top as we look to freshen up our Fantasy squads.

Going Down

United Defence
Once again, the Red Devils failed to keep out their opponents at the back. Sir Alex Ferguson’s side have conceded in all but one of their six fixtures so far – with trips to Newcastle and Chelsea in the next four, in addition to a home clash against Arsenal, sales of their defenders look likely to pick up.

Robin Van Persie
Normally, an assist isn’t too bad for a day’s work. The Dutchman has still managed to produce attacking returns in all of his starts this term but with the likes of Nikica Jelavic, Luis Suarez and Demba Ba all racking up the goals earlier today, and with Rooney now back for United, many may be tempted to look for alternatives to the 13.5 priced Dutchman.

hey guys, so i've decided after a dire performance , this is the week for a wildcard:

what do you think of my WC team - its amazing what can be done when RVP is sold 🙂

    foster / begovic

    vertonghen / baines / rafael / nelsen / gorkss

    silva / bale / gervinho / ramirez / sterling

    suarez / torres / ba

nothing in the bank. any tweaks?

I think you should pick a couple players who didn't score points this week. LIke Cazorla or Hazard. That team looks a touch knee-jerky to me.

I suggest dumping those keepers and Rafael is on and off...inconsistent. look somewhere else..

Team for the next GW… Should I count this GW as a one off and stick with it or is it wildcard time?

    Foster (Begovic)
    Cole Baines Hughes (Demel) (Cuellar)
Bale (c) Nolan Pienaar Michu (Guthrie)
    RVP Tevez Podolski

    0.0 in the bank, 1FT

I'd actually stick with that team. Your defence is in pretty good shape and Guthrie can stay on the bench until you get a chance to get rid. Would prob sell Tevez for Suarez/Ba/Jelly this week and see how it goes.

I feel the need to get Bale in and I'm sacrificing one of my Everton 3. On recent form and current positioning it's going to be Pienaar out and keep hold of Felly and Baines.

However, I need to make another switch to generate funds and am thinking of either:

    i) RVP to Torres (home to Norwich next week is just too tempting surely!) leaves plenty of cash for further tinkering next week
ii) RVP to Jelavic (Back to 3 Toffees but Jelly looked awesome today) even more cash
iii) Tevez to Jelly (will lose all City coverage then though) keep RVP in

    Thoughts?
N.B. I was also looking at Suarez (but apart from the fact he's a red and a repugnant human being, I can't see him repeating the feat against better defences) and Ba (but I think the fixtures are just too unfavourable even for a machine like Demba).

    COYS!!!!!!!

ok i got fellaini and pienaar and lescott, one everton has to go, lescott may need to go as well

    A)pienaar->sahin or

B)fellaini/lescott->bale/4.2 defender, not reading. demel or davies i suppose. for a 4 point hit I

    would have next week

    Baines, Olsson, Gibbs (Demel, Gorkss)

    Cazorla, Bale, Michu, Pienaar (McClean)

    Aguero, Ba, Lambert

if i did A and kept lescott, id start him with gibbs 1st sub. Fellaini and Sahin instead of Bale and Pienaar.

    A or B

So you could perhaps afford RVP whereas another man could only afford Ba? However, so far this season, it doesn't seem to have mattered. As your value stands at the moment, which is higher than most I will add, I would save the Wildcard for a period of injuries/rotation, or a double GW, and not solely for making value.

        Sound advice, cheers.

Most importantly I think it's worth saving until we have a bit more of an idea of which players to get. A knee jerk wildcard this week seems like a bad idea when the must have players are changing every week. I'm not even sure who I'd get this week.

I would say aside from Hart, Kompany (who have hardly been shutting out goals thus far) and Yaya Toure, nobody is safe from rotation, and arguably not worth the money therefore.

May I also add Suarez should theoretically get rotated, near the end of games that will be won, as if he is their only striker then they will want to keep him fresh, but this is only nit-picking.

don't worry too much about the whole too much coverage thing. Ok if you're getting 3 pool players i'd say hang on but 2 is fine.

Yeah. I thought he was a holding midfielder but scored twice in the cup and assisted twice today. Could be a cheap way in to Liverpool.

Did'nt see todays game but Graham is not involved in the Swansea attack at all. Would sell him and keep Michu, as they have great fixtures.

Team for GW7 looks like this:

    Foster - Begovic

    Baines - Gibbs - Hughes - Demel - Davies

Santi Cazorla - Yaya - Ben Arfa - Michu - Sterling

    RVP - Tevez - Berbatov

Should I stick or use FT to get in Jelly/Suarez/Ba for Tevez?
