Eden Hazard was a Fantasy force of nature in the opening weeks of the season. The Belgian simply swept through defences with pace and trickery that tempted tackles and earned him a string of early assists. Huge Fantasy investment followed, making him the most sought after player in both the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) and Sky Sports games in the opening fortnight.

Since then, however, Hazard has dwindled as a source of points. Three consecutive blanks have offered scant reward for his investors and with the likes of Gareth Bale and Santi Cazorla now tempting acquisitions, Hazard’s owners are contemplating the merits of holding firm for a run of testing fixtures to come.

In this latest members article, we examine Hazard’s statistics over the opening three weeks and run a comparison with his recent form for both goal threat and creativity. Crucially, we also focus on Chelsea as a whole in an attempt to identify why the Belgian has declined and whether this indicates an immediate concern for his frustrated Fantasy owners…

          Definitely, and he`s been very influential past few weeks. That said, not sure i would want Chelsea boys going forward. RDM defends too much for my liking in the big games.

      Considering the gulf in price and quality, it's tough to even see that as a real question. It should be more along the lines of should I put this extra value elsewhere in my team or not? As for the actual question, I think it's good.

        Picky. But as you say it is always a balance. Lets just say I want the best value midfielder for 9.1 or less with good fixtures and they need to be good for this week.

          Not trying to be an ass 🙂 I just mean, I could upgrade Sterling to Bale right now if I wanted to, but it would be silly as I'd have way too much money tied up in my midfield. As a 1 week proposition, I don't think you can do better than Mata right now at that value.

      Looks great. Perhaps lose Clyne with the 1:2x2 system at the back there? Maybe upgrade or shift to someone who rotates with Cuellar which is tough to do.

      On another note, what do you think of people buying Olsson and McAuley over Ridgewell?

        Thanks mate. No money to upgrade Clyne so my 2 FT's could be either Michu > Nolan or Yaya > HBA/Gervinho or Tevez > ??? then uprgade Clyne with the monies left over.

        I am sticking with Ridgewell. I think alot of people are either unaware of the power of the Ridgewell or see Popov as a threat to his spot at LB and see Olsson/McAuley as safer picks at CB but I wouldn't be too sure. Maybe this defence will end up like this

          Ah, okay save it then me thinks. It's what the cool kids are doing (unless Bale tempts me, the b*stard!). Interesting thoughts re WBA. Liam will stay 100% in the team I reckon (despite Popov quotes from assistant), but I'd be gutted to see him at CB.

              They've got some cracking kit at the WBA training ground to get players back sharpish. I reckon he'll make it and I fancy him for a haul too. I also have the double up with Foster As Brum's Second Coming Combo.

              I also fancy the Wilson Bego double up, but it depends on Bardsley/Cuellar fitness and double gameweek.

      I'm not sure if price makes a difference in your transfer plans, but what about Michu to Gervinho? Both have good fixtures this week, but Michu's form has dropped and Gervinho's has gone up and he has been playing as a forward. Michu's price is dropping today and Gervinho's may go up soon.

      I've considered the Chelsea boat to have sailed after one last stop at port on Saturday. I never get on with their players anyway. Any other team could have had a double but it had to be Chelsea!

        I don't think it has sailed though. Out of the top four (and this is just opinion) they look most likely to score a few goals a game and most likely to keep a clean sheet. Surely it's worth having one of their players even though they have some tricky fixtures?

          You might be right, but their fixtures don't suggest too many goals and when they do score, 1 week it could be Hazard, the next Mata. I don't see much continiuity with regards to consistency or patterns. Torres is still a mystery. Plenty of assist potential for Mazard? mmm

      Nani is a huge risk. His price makes him attractive but as Wednesday shows he is a massive rotation risk, and we know how his scoring works. That being said his recent scores point to a big haul, but I'm not sure I'd advocate getting him. The jury is still out on Kags as an FPL prospect.

    I've given up on caring about price changes now (except in cases where I need to move fast to afford a transfer I already decided on).

    My Bale -> Hazard transfer after gw3 is my worst in FPL history, and it was all because I was worried about Bale dropping and Hazard rising stratospherically. Never again.

    Any concerns that the three EPL teams, 'pool, Spurs and Newcastle, playing Europa today, Thursday, may rest some of their players for the upcoming EPL matches?

    I would suspect that there may be some disappointed EPL managers when their players don't get in or, worse, make short cameo appearances on the weekend.
