The Gunners show their spirit to come from behind and claim the points at Upton Park, as Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott arrive and Santi Cazorla confirms his class…

On the Up

Olivier Giroud
A first Premier League goal, was capped by the assist for Theo Walcott’s winner. The Frenchman has pedigree in his native country but has yet to convince on these shores. He’ll surely take great confidence from this evening’s performance, however, and Giroud could yet present another enticing option up front.

Santi Cazorla
We kept faith with Cazorla in the Watchlist rankings, settling him in third above his in-form team-mate Gervinho: tonight’s performance demonstrated just why. The Spaniard was, once again, superb and this time delivered on his hugely impressive numbers with a fabulous strike to seal the Arsenal victory.

Theo Walcott
A peripheral figure so far in Arsenal’s season, Walcott’s goal and his assist for Cazola’s effort was a reminder of his potential. Contract negotiations are still ongoing – if Walcott can finally settle, he could yet play a role in our Fantasy seasons. Right now, he’s an option that increases the likelihood of rotation in Wenger’s lineup.

Going Down

The Arsenal Defence
Arsene Wenger brought Per Mertesacker back into his back four, dropping Laurent Koscielny to the bench – a decision likely to have been governed by the threat of Andy Carroll. The Gunners backline have now conceded in the last four and, more significantly, with Bacary Sagna and Wojciech Szczesney set for returns after the international break, there is a great deal of uncertainty in terms of personnel. Thomas Vermaelen appears to be the only assured starter, at least until we know more on Kieran Gibbs’ knock that saw him replaced just before the hour-mark tonight.

Gervinho
Giroud’s returns and Walcott’s showing from the bench signals trouble for owners of the Ivorian. Already he was pushed out wide on the right from the off in this evening’s game, only to be replaced by Walcott after 60 minutes after an ineffectual showing. Gervinho’s starting role is now immediately under increased threat, both as a central attacker and on the flank.

Ricardo Vaz Te
The Hammers striker had been enjoying a buoyant start to the season but this looks to have been derailed this evening by a suspected dislocation of the shoulder. Guy Demel also sustained a knock and his prognosis is likely to be a greater concern for Fantasy managers.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Mata has the form but has 2 weeks off now... whereas silva will actually be playing and can see his form rising. Wait for the Internationals to be over, you can afford the rises but I doubt there will be any for silva and maybe only one for Mata.... then decide.

Does this team need a WC? I know there’s still 5 players still to play but if I Wildcard, I want to do it straight away to maximize profits:

    Foster (FEDERICI)
    Baines, RANGEL, Hangeland (Demel, Cuellar)
    HAZARD, Bale, MICHU, Pienaar (KACA)
    RVP, Ba, Fletcher
    £0.8m

    If I WC:
    Foster (BEGOVIC)
    Baines, WILSON/CLYNE, Hangeland (Demel, Cuellar)
    CAZORLA, Bale, SILVA/MATA, Pienaar (STERLING)
    AGUERO, Ba, Fletcher
    £0.8-2.6m

No, I'd save it, you'll want to give the two Swans their last good game before you can ship them out from free after GW8 finishes... once you do that, your team will have the look of a fresh WC team, except you'll still have your WC intact... 😉

      That's what I'm doing...

Yeah I can see a few little niggling concerns there, this Int Break is definitely the best time to do it, with price rises too play as well...

Should work out well for you...

One question, surely you'll jump on Ivan for his rises, but would you be willing to keep him through their tough fixtures?

Because I have noticed that once they get these 6 or so hard games out of the way, Chelsea have a very cosy run until the end of the season (at least in the home games)

Getting Ivan would only be good for the 0.1 made for free. Rather have Baines/Ivan & 4 cheapies as my team value is lower than most & need the real funds in attacking 8.

@Zep - just seen your reply on the previous page.

I could do Tevez(wba) -> Berbs(AVL) this week and still have enough for Michu -> Santi next week. I like the idea of Berbs, but Tevez has great short term fixtures so I'm loathed to lose him (caveat that with the rotation risk). You reckon Tevez -> Berbs this week is the best play, or would you save the freebie and do Michu & Suarez -> Santi & Lambert/Berbs in GW9?

    Open Controls
    1. Zep
      • 15 Years

It's tough, but there certainly isn't any rush to bring in Berbs yet, since I doubt he will play this weekend, and as a result will probably be cheaper at the end of the break...

Tevez is an enigma, great player, but too much rotation up there for me now... so maybe it would be best to hold Suarez (at least he's guaranteed 90mins) and do Michu & Tevez > Santi & Lambert/Berbs...

I don't even like Liverpool's next 6 fixtures tbh, but I would take 6 x 90mins over Tevez and his potential 1pt cameos...

      It's tough...

Sound advice. I think I'll probably save the transfer this week (unless injuries arise) and then make the call next week. Balo fell down the pecking order after this w/e, so I think Tevez & Aguero is the first choice pairing, and they score a lot when playing together.

What are your thoughts on Ba? He's tempting from GW9 also, but would mean no Santi (unless I take a hit)...

              Not entirely...

I had a gut feeling that he was going to score 2 goals... I will, of course, settle for one... but his fixtures from GW9 onwards, Utd's leaky defence, coupled up with his rise and Tevez' fall did make it an easier decision to follow my gut...

Is Tevez really a rotation risk?

I dont think he is personally , might be rested for the occasional game but likely to play more league matches than the rest of the city forwards due to his high workrate.
They look much better with him in the team than without , Dzeko just sub material , and Barlotelli unrelible, while Aguero will have to play all the euro games

Hm. Looks like we share a few players in attack. What are you thinking about doing, Triggerlips? Personally I am about to pull the aforementioned trigger on Bale, and take out Hazard. Still, I have doubts. There might be other pressing issues.

And, I think Tevez is the better option in attack. For what he delivers, and the rotation risks that is included in having him, his price is about right. Agüero's price is too steep for my liking, and in the midfield you might want players like Cazorla, Mata, Bale and it could prove impossible to squeeze Silva in.

Still. Bale is a notorious point machine. Ruddy/Kelvin Davis makes a horrible combo. Also, there is Demel to worry about.

My front 8 I would be confident about fielding, and there is not really any need to swap anyone of them for Sterling.

If you have the funds to go Guthrie to Sterling, that seems a reasonable transfer (although wait at least until tomorrow's games have been played).

That seems like a very popular move considering Guthrie will probably drop but Chelsea's next few weeks are tough and McClean has been really poor point wise. Hard choice :/

When you are logged into EPL and are looking at the history of your players, you can see PPI for past games. But this week's totals are posted at the same time as bonus. So nobody knows for sure right now.

I would just do the one and hold the second. Another free transfer never hurts (plus injuries could happen over the international break and you'll be in a good position to cover for free).

Don't think Dyer will start next game though which is the main problem. Routledge will defo play after that performance and you imagine Hernandez will most likely take the disappointing Dyer's place. That only leaves Gaston Ramirez to play but West Ham away is hardly the easiest fixture.

I've been monitoring Walters for that run of fixtures and have considered it so might do that. My only hesitation is what I mentioned above, that I don't think Dyer will start the WIG game.

Yeah, I've obviously held onto Graham for too long. Could easily upgrade him to Ba/Lambert/Berbs. With regards to RVP, I only transferred him out last week so I'm reluctant to bring him back in just yet... But apart from that, you don't think it's worth using my WC?

You would want to be changing 5 of more positions. My team is alot worse than yours. No a fan of the mid value mids, too inconsistent. Might be time for Hazard to go too. Work out what team you could make with a WC & the answer will be obvious.

How accurate are the fiso projections? Accurate to the percent or is it give or take say 5 or 10%?

For example, I am planning on going RVP (80%) to Aguero (93%). Can I be sure that Aguero won't go up in price and wait until after RVPs game or is there a chance that the figure off a few percent and Aguero goes up tonight.
