A decidedly tepid Gameweek which saw the big guns misfire. Oliver Giroud at last made an impression, Santi Cazorla boosted his reputation, while two of the “template squad” were rejuvenated as Eden Hazard and Michu delivered. Our members can hoover up all the data from the weekend action and, as usual, we’ve picked up the numbers that have caught our eye so far…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

tevez will play week 8 for sure as all other 3 city srikers are on international duty, 2 of the other 3 will be playing the champions league fixture and then tevez will play week 9 with swansea.

make sense to keep tevez then for at least another 2 fixtures?

    thanks

Trade if he's banned, but I'm kind of hoping that the FA do have a look and make a statement to announce that they think Cabaye was play-acting. He may have got a touch but its clear to me that he's thought about it for a second, then tried to get a fellow professional sent off. One of the aspects of the game that I really despise.

You'd have to go through all the Americans and count how many put arsenal as their team. Hardly worth it.

Alright lads so need a little bit of help here.

Team for GW 8 looks pretty good even without any transfers at all but i definitely am dead set on getting an Arsenal attacker.

    Starting xi as of now.
    Jussi
    Rafael Gibbs Baines
    Michu Pienaar Yaya Sterling Hazard
    RVP Berbatov Tevez

I know i have played 8 attackers because all of them have fixtures and form on their side. Will probably have to bench one of Yaya/Sterling/Hazard.

I have 0M in the bank and there are two transfers i can think of. Definitely do not want to take hits.
    Options for me are
    a) Hazard > Santi
This is the most 'sensible transfer' so to speak since Hazard has 4 tough fixtures and Arsenals fixtures are absolutely tasty. But for this, i have to let go off Hazard, which is a little sacrifice.
    b) Yaya > Gervinho
I have to get rid of Yaya but hey Gervinho, i'm not too convinced and is now a rotation threat imo with Walcott around.
    c) Tevez > Giroud
This is the one i really tempted to make. Could propel me up the rankings and you lot know my love for Giroud. Its not such a 'sensible' transfer to make since Tevez has a good set of fixtures too (Better than Hazard) but Giroud could possible get a lot of goals with the team around him and i do think he's a good striker.

Between A and C for me.
Would love to know which transfer you would make in my position and who would you bench after making that transfer.

    Cheers!

Has to be a) for me. Reasons - Giroud is as much, if not more of a rotation risk than Tevez. Tevez also has great short term fixtures. Hazard has 6 really tough games in a row. Santi is the best Arsenal coverage - nailed on for 90 mins each week and everything goes through him.

I'd go with C personally. I was at the Chelsea game on Sat and Hazard was absolutely class. I personally think he's fixture proof as well as it is some of the best footie I've seen at the bridge in a long time. Yes, I know it was only Norwich, but I think if we play like that against any team we can win, and he will be in the mix for a lot of the goals. Also with Tevez, we know he's a rotation risk and is bound to cause further annoyance in the future. Just my opinion 🙂

Hazard > Santi for me. Stats, form, fixtures all point to Santi being the better player. The other targets are rotation risks.

As for risk and reward vs. playing it safe, I would always do the safe transfer unless I needed a differential to catch someone. The safer bets pay off more often than the risky punts and mean you need less transfers/hits to rectify problems.

The two risky punts I've done this season were Kagawa and Adebayor (as he was first coming back to fitness). This clearly didn't work and I ended up wildcarding the week after, which turned out to be a great move for me. All my wildcard picks were solid, 'safe' option and I've had green arrows every week since.

I've also refrained from taking risky short-term punts this season (apart form the Kagawa and RVP transfers, where my hand was forced slightly due to Rooney's injury and Lampard's blank) e.g. I refrained from Tevez > Berba/Suarez last week, which has paid off so far. I've also tried to save my transfer unless absolutely essential.

I will do A, if that's the only way you can get Santi.

If so, I may not buy back Hazard even after the tough fixtures. Torres and Mata could score similar points as Hazard, but cheaper.

Besides, Hazard may not start sometimes, if CL competition not going that smooth with Moses and Marin could start instead.

    bale, cazorla, hba, pienaar, michu
    ba, fletcher, lambert
2ft’s and 1.9 in the bank

    1) do i have anyone in that squad who has international games? ( and no cazorla doesn't count as i doubt he'll play ahead of xavi, iniesta, silva, xabi, cesc and mata)
    2) fletch to berb?
    3) should i dump one of gibbs rafa or saylor for a punt on kolorov?

Team in decent shape for next week. Kolarov is totally your choice but its a very chasing the points kind of move. I personally think you squad is strong enough to handle Kolarov. That strikeforce looks a little weak. Lambert did not exactly convince me either.

i know it seems like i'm chasing points its just i remember all the times last year when he actually played and scored very well fantasy wise but no one ever got him because he was too expensive for a rotation risk. yeah thats what i was thinking too. i'm fine if he doesn't play only thing i'm not fine with is if he plays for 5-10 min...

who would you propose up top then? yes but i'll give him a couple weeks at least. especially given his fixtures. remember the teams he's managed to score against

the expensive options i don't think are worth the money atm and i'd rather avoid the rotation headache. i don't rate suarez tbh. i'll have to be convinced by some more concistancy. same with giroud

With Kolarov, you have to cop the cameos on the chin, knowing that when he starts he'll likely get a massive score.

What would YOU do with this front three?

    Tevez - RVP - Fletcher

I want to get rid of one of RVP or Tevez but I can't justify either. If I get rid of RVP I almost certainly won't be able to get him back and we all know that 'he scores when he wants'.
I'm not too sure on getting rid of Tevez either because it seems that he'll start the next game as well against WBA.

In a right pickle here, opinions?

Had to do fed to bego last night as no funds otherwise and would have missed him.

Depending on RVP news my other transfer this GW will be Haz - Silva and it will be for a hit... Have a great feeling about him..

Thinking about doing this over the break.

    Out: RVP, Fellaini
    In: Jelavic, Bale

    My reasons:
    Have 2FTs
    RVP not looking worth13+
Fellaini dropped deeper this weekend, with rise of Mirallas
Still need EVE cover however, hence Jelavic
Bale is a must-have - his underlying stats are superb
    Frees 2.8 to upgrade elsewhere

    Thoughts?

Man-handling in the box is a separate story. RVP clearly ran up to Cabaye, looked at him, thought about it, needlessly raised his arm towards his face and elbowed him. What more do you want?

Alreet lads. I would like to keep fletcher for this week as a safety net in case he scores against us (likely), but I will be swapping him for berba soon enough, who has villa at home. Also if I don't do the transfer, what else would I do? Have 2 ft so need to make one really. Demel and fellaini are really the only ones that I would consider getting rid of and I'm not sure it is worth a transfer for my 5th defender who will only miss a couple of games, and would like to give fellaini another couple of chances. Thoughts?

I'd definitely do the Fletcher -> Berba move this week. Plenty of time to decide, and Berba may even drop in price further.

Whatcha reckon about my predicament - down to these 2 options?

      A) GW8: Save, GW9: Michu & Suarez -> Santi & Berba
      B) GW8: Tevez -> Berba, GW9: Michu & Suarez -> Santi & Ba/Tevez (4 pointer)

      Jaask, Fed
      Baines, Cuellar, Hughes, McCartney, Clyne

A seems more sensible to be honest. You may be forced into a change anyway with injuries picked up over the break. Tevez looks like he'll start GW8. Suarez also deserves another game in your team, especially given the fixture!

Yeah, I think you're right. Really wanted Berba from GW8 and Ba from GW9, but I suppose Tevez could still score well at WBA (if QPR can score 2 there etc...) and Ba's GW10 isn't great, so maybe Berba -> Ba in GW11!

I'd love to see it but it needs FIFA to update the laws - which I don't think they will as fooling the ref is seen as a legitimate tactic in some areas of the world. I don't have too much of a problem with Bale's dive because it's possible that he did it to avoid getting hurt - there was certainly no appeal on his part as he knew there was no contact.

I've just watched the highlights of the United game and here's my opinion on the incident between RVP and Cabaye:

RVP was running up behind Cabaye (off the ball) and as he approaches him, he looks at Cabaye and raises his arm, which connects with Cabaye's neck/head

There are two possibilities. The first one is that RVP anticipated that Cabaye was going to move to block him off and so raised his arms in order to help balance himself and allow him to stay on his feet and run past Cabaye. The second possibility is that, for whatever reason, RVP has decided to elbow Cabaye in the face because he lost his temper due to a previous challenge.

Although the first scenario seems more likely, it certainly looks like it was intentional from RVP and Cabaye going to ground certainly won't help. At this point I predict the FA will review the footage and give RVP a ban. We'll have to wait and see!

The reason I asked if it was his first season on FPL is becuase anyone who played last season knows how annoying it was to own Kolarov last season. He will play in 60-70% of games but a lot of those will be as a second half substitute or being subbed off before 60 mins. He gets 0 or 1 pointers more often than not.
