International breaks are the bane of a Fantasy manager’s life. Every day we brace ourselves for reports of withdrawals and possible injury scares and today is no exception. Marouane Fellaini has picked up a knee problem, Robert Snodgrass and Romelu Lukaku both have ankle worries, while Winston Reid awaits results of a back scan…

Reports suggest Marouane Fellaini could be set to miss the next three weeks with a knee problem. The midfielder is said to have picked up the injury in last Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Wigan and has since undergone scans with the Belgium medics – he is now out of his nation’s upcoming games and would be regarded as a real doubt for the Toffees Gameweek 8 trip to QPR if the initial prognosis proves correct.

There is now a wash of reports following the breaking news late last night but Everton are yet to comment on the story, which was published initially on the Belgian FA website. Any confirmed absence would surely prompt significant sales across the Fantasy games. Fellaini has risen to 7.3 from 6.5 in FPL after grabbing three goals in the first five Gameweeks – owned by over 31% of Fantasy managers, he has a strong upcoming schedule which could afford plenty opportunity to rack up the points should be overcome the problem in time for the Loftus Road clash on Sunday October 21.

Robert Snodgrass has been ruled out of the Scotland squad due to an ankle problem. The injury was kept under wraps at the weekend –an unused sub for the game at Chelsea due to the problem, Snodgrass’ omission was generally assumed to be tactical. Having started the Canaries’ first six games this season, the former Leeds man has been a crucial component of Chris Hughton’s first-team – today’s news at least eased fears that he has become prone to rotation under the new manager.

Goran Popov has again reiterated his desire to nail down the left-back role for West Brom. The on-loan defender revealed yesterday:

“I want more than a year. My future is here, I don’t want to go back. So for me it is important now to play and show that I am good enough to stay in English football. I would like to stay here after this year. This is my future and I am thinking like that. That’s why I came here. If I wanted to be back in Kiev I wouldn’t have come here. I came here because I know I can play here. We have spoken about it and the club have said if I do well here this year I can sign for one or two years more.”

Popov has stepped in for the injured Liam Ridgewell over the last couple of matches but the former Birmingham is now afforded the fortnight international break to recover in time for the Gameweek 8 home showdown with City. Having been handed a first-team opportunity, Popov is likely to find out where he stands in the pecking order if Ridgewell returns to fitness – while the Macedonian’s cheaper cost is more appealing from Fantasy perspective, he’s likely to be hard pushed to keep Ridgewell out of Steve Clarke’s starting line-up.

Elsewhere for the Baggies, Romelu Lukaku has pulled out of the Belgium squad ahead of the upcoming internationals. The forward, who made his sixth sub appearance of the season in the weekend win over QPR, has sustained an ankle problem.

Winston Reid has delayed heading off on international duty with New Zealand as he awaits the results of back scans. The centre-half suffered muscle spasms during the Hammers’ 3-1 defeat against Arsenal on Saturday evening – James Tomkins stepped off the bench to replace the Kiwi in Gameweek 6 and would be set to step in if Reid has suffered any injury.

Should I keep it simple and do Fellaini -> Pienaar?

I have Gervinho, Guthrie, Gunter and Demal to worry about too.

Could do Fellaini -> Nolan and Gervinho -> Mata (-4).....or just hope Gervinho gets a start or comes on and assists etc.

Quite. Berb is coming into my team one way or another. The point is that once Ba rises and Berb drops I will have enough to turn Clyne into Kolarov. But it's not going to happen, because even with a flag Berb is not being transferred out as fast as Kolarov is being transferred in.

    Need an advice:
current forward lineup: Ba - Jelavic - Suarez.
I want to buy Berbatov for the next GW - who to ditch: Ba or Jelavic? Or leave it as it is?
Suarez will be switched to RVP/Aguero next GW.

I'm switching Ba out for Berb, but I have Barfa. To do it you really have to believe in Berb for at least the medium term. I do, so I think it's worth it. I wouldn't so it just to cash in on Villa and then find yourself wishing you had Ba back.

Sold. Made .2m on him and I see his price dropping but the main thing is that there's a lot of value forwards out there: Ba, Berba, Jelly, Podolski and I reckon Giroud might hit some form, too.

Selling.. Not a Manu fan and i cant captain him vs tough opposition(better captains elsewhere) and neither vs easy opposition(rotation threat).. Bought him in GW 2 purely cause of consistency and we dint know who the standout forward options would be.. now that ba, berbatov, jelavic etc have surfaced it'd be madness to keep him(slight exaggeration)

Yeah, the most boring I've seen was Barry Ferguson a couple of seasons ago.
Played 90 min in practically every game.
Would have ended with a record of 0 goals, 0 assists, 0 BPs, 0 Yellows, 0 Reds only for a yellow in the last game and by chance that yellow cost my rival in my mini league as he had him and I ended up beating him by 1 point.

I'm not sure if posting RMT's on here is actually the best way to go, it seems everyone has in mind their ideal template teams and if just one player doesnt meet the template then the person gets slated... scary stuff.

I remember a few years ago I saw someone in the h2h league progress to the final I think it was with Carrick in their team, and he scored and got them around 12 points I think, which helped them to win the game. Not only that but the person had bought them in that week!

I genuinely think if you have a feeling someones going to do well, you should do it regardless of what people say on here. The watchlist is fantastic on the right and tells you pretty much who you should be considering getting in in your team due to fixtures/form. If you have a punt though go for it! Especially if your languishing like I am around the 200k mark.

Its true, but people can be very critical. I think that a team should be comprised of people who are going to start 90-100% of the games, so if people are considering a player that is not going to play they should be warned, and also warned of defensively minded players, but other than that, people should be applauded for taking risks and bringing in different players, not chastised.
        Just my thoughts

There are lots of books that deal with the concept of crowd wisdom, my inexpert understanding of the gist is that it doesn't tend to lead to innovative answers but has some validity in terms of optimisation e.g. if you ask 100 people to guess how many beans are a in a jar then the mean of those answers is generally pretty accurate.

Ahhh the key here is Crowd Wisdom vs Group Think... Crowd Wisdom assumes 100 people independently guessed the number of beans and the mean is suppose to be accurate... RMT's have a danger of Group Think where all of a sudden Kolorov is the best defender to have ever played the game 🙂

^This. I couldn't agree more, initially, I came on here to build a team around Hazard, Bale, Tevez and Aguero. I really got great responses, though people around were unsure about Tevez and Hazard, though I kept them in and I'm enjoying a really good start. Some template players with one or two punts is the way to go I think, though my team doesn't have any punts cause I don't want to lose on my rank and generally get good scores coming in. Surely though, in a while (around GW13-15) I'll be getting a few punts in.

Totally agree. People (not blaming them, I do it too and it's perfectly natural - human nature even) get defensive about their picks and drops, and will rationalise the hell out why they've made a certain decision. Largely to talk themselves into it!

I rarely post, but have a conundrum. I have 2FT this week. But very happy with team/upcoming fixtures:

      Jussi/Beg
      Baines/Rangel/Jenk (demel,barnett)
      Hazard/Caz/Michu/Piennar (YaYa)
      RVP/Berbs/Lambert

I don't know what to change. 0.2 in bank. Maybe Take this as a chance to do some housekeeping?(ie lose barnett/rangel).
      Or maybe YaYa+Michu >> Silva+Routledge?

      Any advice appreciated. Thanks

You need to lose Rangel after this week. Even this week may be. Swan can not keep CS anymore. 🙂 may be replaced with Stoke Defence. It should be done next week according to fixtures. Anway, you need to use 1 ft at least, but not both two fts. I'd still like to have 2 ft next week. So I'd say ditch Yaya to someone else for now. May be do Yaya to Rouledge this week and you can do Michu+Rangel to Silva+Stoke Def next week? Bcoz I think Michu should play for this week and should give him one more chance.

You only need to use one transfer to keep from wasting it, so transfer Yaya to some decent bench fodder (Sterling, etc) and have some cash to add to your two FTs for GW 9.

Selling Rangel is not a housekeeping thing. You can get a decent player if you sell him, or just get Ben Davies if you really like the leaking Swansea.

Can't see much sense of the Yaya-michu to silva-routledge move. You will regret in long-run for points scoring total. However, if your move is for more freedom to trade-in expensive midfields for different GWs, you can do it.

You can't have them all. Well you can but you won't do well if you just look at coverage rather than the gems from lower down teams.

People who have a mid-priced front 3 are soon going to be wanting Tevez/Aguero/Silva and RVP/Rooney. City look in top form and Im doubling on them from next week. United are going to run riot from gw11, but being an RVP owner Im concerned he will get rested and am looking at Rooney.

I'd say City, United, Arsenal and Everton are all pretty necessary and then its a toss between Newcastle, Chelsea and Spurs.

Haz to Bale looks good. You may also consider selling Guthrie for Sterling / Maloney / Tarrabt or Demel to Wilson / Nelson / Wisdom / Olsson this GW. You can sell Vorm to a cheap GK next week, then you have more funds to upgrade Guthrie / Demel the week after next when you haven't done that this GW

How long is Mccartney nailed on for at the mo? Does it depend on injuries or has he forced his way into the team regardless for now?

Also with Ba close to rising, is there a chance he'll rise again before the deadline? Need to scrape together an extra 0.1 for my WC team

I doubt Ba will rise twice. Don't think any forwards will. Pienaar might. Cazorla will.

It's just weird when I see at the Premier League table, and wonder how Tottenham got to 5th so early on in the season despite their poor start....

Our 2nd best start to the Premier League ever you mean? I blame that AVB chap, all his tactics and big words, what a tosser.

Lost 4 points to WBA & NOR but made up 3 points to mun. Not bad at all.

The fixtures were really easy, so let's not go that route.

Still only enough for Top 6, imo. Everton/ Pool could be pushing hard as well.

Mclean's stats are pretty crap.. lallana winnin the Fellaini/7.4 an below mid replacement by a big stretch considerin nolan's fixtures are pretty bad after two weeks

Honestly, the Nolan/Carroll combo will be effective against any opposition except maybe Stoke. The top teams are often worse at handling West Ham's style than mid-table teams. I'd put Pienaar top, Nolan second and Morrison 3rd ahead of Lallana to replace Fellaini.

may downgrade Rvp and get Silva/Mata in for felllaini rather than opt for a cheap mid who is'nt pienaar.. i play the fixtures usually with a bit of form thrown in, and i cannot see West ham keepin either long term

As a Morrison owner...i am glad you all neglect to mention him...besides city, he has good fixtures and form, and will score more once long can start to put away the great balls Morrison has been supplying...
