The first potential casualty of the international break has emerged, with Man City’s David Silva suffering an injury that forced him after just 13 minutes of Spain’s World Cup qualifier with France tonight.

Reports on the injury are, predictably, sketchy at this time with claims that Silva may have suffered a problem with his knee or hamstring. However, the Daily Mail’s Ian Ladyman has since tweeted that it’s Silva’s ankle that has taken the blow – an area which has haunted Silva: the player previously confessing that he has played with an ankle problem for several seasons.

City are now reporting the injury, suggesting a hamstring problem and stating that the player will be examined on his return to Manchester. At that point we should be clearer on the situation and whether Silva will be a doubt for the trip to West Brom on Saturday.

Roberto Mancini will be hugely concerned given that he has a host of players due to return for assessment prior to the weekend, including Sergio Aguero who will turn out for Argentina in Chile in the early hours of this morning. His worries will also include several of England’s lineup who look set to face Poland tomorrow evening after tonight’s postponement in Warsaw.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Let's face it, Fergie won't play RVP this weekend just like he didn't last time they had a champions league game coming up, question is is he still worth keeping?

πŸ˜€ I am not saying keep him or get rid. I have a very mixed opinion on this, yet to make up my mind. Just saying I think he wont be rested. I am still kind of keeping my eye on Rooney actually and might get him for GW 11 instead- especially if he will be the pen taker.

Rooney is on my watchlist as well

even if he play deepier that RVP he taking way more shots and creating chanses (in last 2 matchs)

I actually think he wont play deeper all the time, and especially against teams who they have more possession against. The pens are the key factor for me here.

I can't understand why you don't do it now...he'll notch just as much as RVP and just as likely to start...1.5 mill for the same scoring potential...

Since my strikeforce is looking ok for now, no need to fix it, especially with some difficult fixtures up for United.

I thought he looked really good in his last two games...most commented on him playing just behind RVP...not sure what they were watching, he was actually all over the pitch....really good...

Still a bit worrying when he is 12 mil and a striker, would like to see him a bit forward against weaker teams and on Pens. He also had only 2 key--passes for those 2 assists. So the point score is a bit deceiving.

I agree although it is also true that United have been fine with Stoke compared to other teams, especially at home and he also played 90 mins today while Fergie may be reluctant to rest players until European qualification from the groups is actually sealed this time!

You can spot possible trends - like who managers prefer for European games. None of it can be certain but I doubt whether Mancini and Ferguson go into this spell without long-term planning and some idea of who they want to preserve for Europe and League matches.

The problem with rvp being rested is more to do with the fact that if they don't get the win v braga they could be in a similar position as last year struggling to qualify as they will then have braga and gala away before what could be a crucial game v cluj at home.

To me this means these is a very real possibility rvp will get rested as if they don't win it will be very difficult to find a game where he can rest over the next 5/6 weeks and he would defo be needed for every one of the remaining champions league games too. It just makes sense to play him v braga get the win set up champs league allowing squad rotation in Europe for remaining games and minimizing the chance of rvp getting broken by stokes bash bros.

Yeah, but all you needed here was a little bit of common sense. It started raining about 3pm (2pm in UK time) and still, no one made decision to close the roof. Where is logic here? Remember opening game of Euros? It was hot as hell ... and they closed the roof.

Unreal scenes at the England U-21 game,
Ref made a huge boo boo that nobody noticed, the goal at the end should have been ruled offside.
Conor Wickham was clearly offside but as the keeper was up the other end of the pitch the ref and linesman forgot to look for the 2nd Serbian defender. Major Blunder, no wonder there was madness at the final whistle.

he was behind him BUT there was no keeper. Beleive me it should have been disallowed. The offside rule states that when the ball is played the receiving attacking player shall not be nearer the goaline than the 2nd defensive player, (Not the last defender apart from the keeper)
@ Fellaini , it does not exuse the behaviour, but you can understand the Serbian players being seriously miffed. I doubt their fans realised about the goal being offside, they're just scum!!!

The rule also says 'when the ball has been played forwards' (or something along those lines). You can't be offside if you're behind the ball when it's played.

            Here we go:

'A player is in an offside position if he is closer to the opponent's goal line than both the ball and the second-to-last defender'

If he was nearer the halfway line than the ball, he was on.
If he was in front of the ball he was off.
All I know is that he was definitely ahead of the 2nd last defender.

As long as the ball is passed back the rule is irrelevant however you are spoy on regarding the rule.

Regardless of the goal the serbians unfortunately already had a bad reputation and the racist taunting off field and then seemingly on should not be tolerated!

No excuse, once the ball went out of play, game was over, their fans, staff, and players behaved like thugs, if uefa don't come down extremely hard on this, at some stage in the future they will be dealing with a tragedy. Notice the lack of policing within the ground. Serbia in football openly flies the raciest flag, I would not want that scum, coming to my country to our games.

    Next GW

    Suarez > Berba

then it was going to be

    yaya > silva/bale

but if it turns out silva is out for a month i could then do the gameweek after

    Jelavic > Tevez

Is having a strong attacking city option so essential that i should not get bale in OR take out (imo) a very solid attacking option in Jelavic?

His only competition is Nani and possibly Kagawa.

Nani is out of form and out of favour.

Kagawa will be used more centrally.

Welbeck has only been on the wing because of injuries.

Giggs is finished as evidenced by his pitiful displays so far this season.

Why? Fergie fell out of love with Nani ages ago.

He will also have not bought Kagawa to stick him out on the wing all the time.

Also, if he is rotating during a CL week, it's more likely he'd go with Kagawa in Europe over Young.

Not saying he will start every game, but he will play the majority, imo.

    Hey guys..

Just want some feedback on a little piece I've written about the Liverpool/Norwich game. It's not complete but here goes..

A scintillating game in which Liverpool dominated from the off. Luis Suarez continued his red hot form at Carrow Road as he opened the scoring in the opening minutes for the Reds with a sweet side foot finish into the bottom left hand corner of Ruddy’s goal. Liverpool dominated possession in the middle of the park with Allen and on-loan Real Madrid starlet Sahin holding the ball well and stringing together short, snappy passes. The Reds created numerous amounts of chances into the built up of the second goal. Prior to this, Luis Suarez yet again had an opportunity to score against the Canaries but poked the ball wide from Ruddy’s right hand post. Seconds after this, Suarez dispossessed Michael Turner and nutmegged him on the half turn to produce an outside right footed belter into Ruddy’s bottom left hand corner to send the Reds 2-0 up. Liverpool continued to play under Rodgers’ system of keeping the ball but eventually lost the ball on the counter to Pilkington who chipped the ball in invitedly into the path of Snodgrass who somehow managed to scuff his shot into the path of Johnson to deny the Canaries any chance of scoring.

Not a bad effort. A few punctuation errors and sentence structure issues but nothing major.

You also used the word 'ball' too much towards the end.

Hi fella dont want sound like a chunt, but Timeliness is critical. This game was 3 weeks ago, we would have all seen the game / highlights / goals and read various reports.

Therefore your report is of no real interest......try writing up the England game tomorrow and ask us all then.

I have just found out my rival in my mini league has brought in Wisdom this week, am I right in thinking he is an injury doubt? Anyone have any information on how serious it is and if the likelihood is he will play or not.
