John Terry has confirmed he will not be appealing against the four-match ban imposed by the FA for racially abusing Anton Ferdinand last October. The Chelsea skipper had until 6pm this evening to make his decision but released the following statement earlier this morning:

“I want to take this opportunity to apologise to everyone for the language I used in the game. Although I’m disappointed with the FA judgment, I accept that the language I used, regardless of the context, is not acceptable on the football field or indeed in any walk of life. As I stated in the criminal case, with the benefit of hindsight my language was clearly not an appropriate reaction to the situation for someone in my position. My response was below the level expected by Chelsea Football Club, and by me, and it will not happen again.”

Terry’s suspension will now take place with immediate effect. He is set to miss three league games – this weekend’s trip to Spurs, a home clash with United and the visit to Swansea – in addition to a Capital One Cup tie against United on October 31.

Domestically, he will next be available on November 11 for Liverpool’s visit to the Bridge, though Terry can participate in the Champions League away and home clashes against Shakhtar Donetsk on October 23 and November 7 respectively.

The news is likely to boost Gary Cahill’s first-team chances over the short-term, at least. The former Bolton man has started just one of the last four league matches, whereas David Luiz has featured in the first XI in the last five for Roberto Di Matteo’s side – a run of matches which has seen the Blues concede just twice.

Di Matteo also has the option of moving Branislav Ivanovic to the centre and handing new boy Cesar Azpilicueta a start at right-back; the summer signing climbed off the bench against Norwich in Gameweek 7 for his league debut. Whether Di Matteo will give Azpilicueta his first start against Spurs or United is perhaps debatable, though; the smart money seems to be on Cahill slotting in alongside Luiz as Chelsea look to maintain their position at the top of the position in their skipper’s absence.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Caught the bottom of last page :-/

    Current:
    Kagawa, Yaya, Walters, Michu, Hazard
    Torres, Lambert, Tevez

Considering Kagawa –> Cazorla and Tevez –> Jelavic

I’ll have no Manure coverage at all.

    Thoughts?

Do you need to do Tevez > Jelly to fund Cazorla? I would wait a week at least for this one if you can.

Wouldn't worry too much about buying United players at the moment.

Need some input with my team this week lads.

    2 FT's available.

Should I just do Hazard > Cazorla and have 2 the following week to do Michu > HBA + Lowton > Wilson.

This would mean keeping Yaya and Tevez.

No harm in keeping Yaya and Tevez this week with WBA kind of leaky recently and Silva out. Caz for Haz looks ok. Id also sort 1 of your defenders out this GW maybe as I cant see who your going to put out there.

Yeah this is not a good week for my defenders but I don't want to use a transfer just to put that right for the short term. Lowton > wilson but not this week as Stoke are @ United. Ivanovic/Ridgewell/Cuellar are long term for me and Clyne is cheap so not much for me to do in defence atm.

Stoke have only conceded 2 goals in the last 4 including games against Chelsea, City and Liverpool. They are no push-overs this year.

    Any comments on this team?

I am think of swapping Michu for Carzola. Want to get Carzola in and was thinking of getting rid of Nolan but that won't free up enough money so would have to be Michu.

    Vorm/ (Green)

    Shawcross/Jenkinson/A Cole/ (Gunter/Williams)

Pro: Cazorla has better fixtures and arguably provides more consistent threat.
Con: Hazard is on pens with Lampard out and Mike Dean is reffing the TOT/che game.

I'm keeping Hazard for one more then swapping for Bale, but I already have Cazorla so it's much easier for me.

well it's only an opinion but the way avb appears to be setting things up is all three will play... demps is the most in danger from Siggy but appears to have the nod to start ATM.

Lennon and bale will play on the wings, bales returns will beat Lennons as he is the far more productive player as we all know... Lennon can be quite inconsistent and his end product can be poor.. saying that when he does turn up from a FPL perspective he could actually rip it up... it's just too inconsistent for my liking

Brave. I would have to disagree as i think Baines is one of Evertons most attacking elements and i can't see him stopping bombing forward. But thats your call. In that case i would consider the defence a bit suspect but you're ready to go.

May I remind the non-believers/beliebers that before GW8 Last year RVP had 3 goals, an assist and a missed penalty to his name.

This year he has 5 goals, 2 assists and a missed penalty before GW8. So first of all he is outperforming RVP of last year already.

May I also remind people that beginning with GW8 he went on to score 7 goals in 3 matches last year. This was when people were properly alerted to RVP's worth. This year he has bettered his output so far and is ready to explode. And one last point...2 of those games were Stoke at home and Chelsea away...the exact same fixtures he has coming up now!

Just a warning to the non-believers/beliebers!

the most impostant point and the one you're missing is he played for arsenal last year. a superior team that made him score the goals he did. manu, not so good.

if it was last season now, would you want hernandez for 13.5M£ or RVP for 8.4M£? That is the question my friend!

        Say Whaaaaaaaaa?

        Last year,
        United - 89 pts
        Arsenal - 70 pts

        Goals scored
        United - 89
        Arsenal - 74

Define superior. I like Arsenal and all, but this i do not get.

RVP for 8.4m...Obviously. What a stupid question.

Did I need to point out he played for Arsenal? And are they really a superior team? No...

You missed my most important point, he's scored more so far for Man Utd in less game-time.

        Of course... 😀

But my point is essentially he is outperforming himself in terms of goals scored thus far...some people are acting like he's failed them. I remember taking a punt on RVP around the Blackburn match and reaped the rewards a few weeks later. Patience is needed.

I think the main thing people are focused on is price and it's clouding their judgement with so many other options performing for less Ba, Berbatov, Fletcher etc. Looking back to last year, RVP was picked up by most at 11.9/12.0 which was a much fairer price. This year he is definitely over priced but is still returning for now.

I can only see him getting better to be honest so people should keep faith. You know you've got a good fantasy player when you're surprised when they don't score more than 1 goal or grab more than 1 assist.

I stopped reading when I saw the word believer. FPL is a game of analysis and judgement, not faith.

No player is except from being transferred out if the analysis suggests that their future output doesn't justify owning them once you take into account factors such as game-time, value, alternative etc.

Not saying we should turn our back on RVP just yet, but I highly doubt he'll offer better value than he did for Arsenal last year.

Also for the record, I bought RVP right at the beginning of his amazing run and kept him for the whole season. His stats suggested he would start hitting the net if he kept up his then consistent goal-threat and he had an easy run of games.

I don't think the same will happen this year. Totally different situation.

Got a small dilemma FFS. Starting lineup for this GW is:

    Jask

    Baines - Rafa Nelsen/Clark
    Michu - Mata - Santi (C) - Gervinho
    Berb - RVP - Tevez

    Subs - Bego/Sterling/Gorkss

Nelsen or Clark at the back? Nelsen is at home to Everton, Clark is away to Fulham, but I feel Clark offers a bit more of a goal threat? Who would you start?

Same as always.. Even the French think he's pretentious. FPL wise too much risk of Silva being back soon atm.

Not nailed on even without Silva. Knowing Mancini, he can play Rodwell and Barry as DMF and push Yaya forward.

Cheers fellas. I'm just stuck with a dilemma now. I have two FT and wanted:

        McClean to Silva
        Tevez to Berbatoss

Might stick Lallana in instead of Silva but then I have no City...

He is a tricky one, his performance in one of Cities early fixtures indicated to me he was going to have a great season, then failed to reproduce it. Blows hot and cold for me.

Is Mertesacker nailed on? I want an Arsenal defender and only have 5.1m to spend. Am worried Jenkinson's time is up with Sagna looking ready to return.

Yaya personally! I am not a fan of Sterling myself, I can see why people have him though!

Does anyone else think people are underestimating stokes defence? They've drawn 0-0 with Liverpool away, Chelski just scrapped a 1-0 in the bridge and they kept Arsenal scoreless! Is RVP really the one to Captain this week?

I think they're overestimating Stoke's defence personally. Talk of triple Stoke defence etc.

I meant overestimating by tripling...I think that's clearly a risky gamble. Doubling not so much.

3 teams that build up slow and pass giving them the chance to get everyone back. Man U attack fast on the break. As good a choice as anyone.

I don't think anyone's underestimating them, Most people have Bego and or Wilson for the upcoming run.

Think If Man U keep there diamond it could be pretty low scoring. If they don't, I'd fancy Stoke to score...Who knows what goes on in Fergie's head!! Think its a straight toss up between the Berb & RVP. Fulham home to Villa is hard to ignore thou....

No, most people are doubling up soon, i know i will be. I think you're mistaking their faith in the United attack as mis-trust in the the Stoke defence. I have RVP vice captain and yet i plan to double on the Stoke defence.

This weekend seems like it is going to be high scoring. Those green/red arrows could be massive with the potential points available.
