A fine Norwich performance has Arsenal slip to defeat at Carrow Road to deliver a hugely frustrating end to Saturday’s Gameweek 8 action. Here’s part two of today’s Stock Check…

On the Up

The Norwich Defence
Budget back fours continue to attract interest as expensive options fail to produce shut-outs and are forced to fall back on attacking returns. Chris Hughton’s side had showed promise following their opening day drubbing and demonstrated this again tonight with a gritty display. Their fixtures could be worse and the likes of John Ruddy may now earn some attention.

Grant Holt
A third consecutive goal for last season’s leading scorer at Carrow Road. Holt, at last, looks to have cemented his start in Hughton’s lineup and could yet offer some value as a budget striker option this term.

Going Down

The Arsenal Defence
Having started the season so strongly, with three consecutive clean sheets, the Gunners’ backline has failed to keep a shut-out since Gameweek 3. Over 50% of the Fantasy Premier League player base owns an Arsenal defender, with Carl Jenkinson the most popular option, but confidence in Wenger’s rearguard is diminishing by the week.

Vito Mannone
Any claims that Mannone had to the Arsenal number one jersey surely suffered irreparable damage this evening with a shaky performance and the error for the Norwich goal. Wojciech Szczesny may well be several weeks from fitness but he will surely be restored to the lineup once fit.

Santi Cazorla
The Spaniard failed to spark the Gunners this time, falling victim to bitterly disappointing performance from Wenger’s side which showed little in terms of goal threat. The recent clamour for Cazorla will see plenty frustrated this evening but the Gunners do at least have three home games in four to come in which the playmaker will be backed for profit.

Gervinho
Deployed on the flank once again, Gervinho epitomised Arsenal’s showing with ineffective display. His owners will now hope for a shift back to a central attacking role for Arsenal’s forthcoming fixtures but at least the injury suffered to Alex Oxlade Chamberlain could strengthen the Ivorian’s chances of retaining his starting role.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Wondering what the best possible transfer is

    Begovic, Jaask
    Baines, Cuellar, Ridgewell, Saylor, Gunter
    Caz, Haz, Maloney, Morrison, Dyer
    Rvp, Tevez, Lambert

    I'm thinking dyer -> sterling. I have .4in the bank and 1ft

    Thanks

Gervinho + Michu out for Mata + 5.5m (Taraabt etc) worth it for 4 point hit? Giroud is going to continue hogging the spot up top so best to ship out Gervinho I reckon. It’s either both transfers or nothing as both pairs are worth the same value.

Real Salt Cake - With regards to WBA losing to a 10 man City side. It depends on the game but sometimes you can get away with being a man down without it being detrimental to the team.

You can still keep your shape and remain functional and if every player works hard plus the obvious talent City have then it's no shock to win a game even being a player short.

Without sounding too harsh on Milner, i think the fact it was him didn't make too much of an impact on the game. His role is limited to covering the flanks and he seems to be tracking wingers more than firing in crossers these days.

I agree his role is more about preventing City from losing than winning matches for them but in that respect him being sent off could have been worse as it might have made Richards more vulnerable without the cover of Milner.

Any thoughts? 2FTs, 0.6 in bank. Off to Berlin this week so need to pull the trigger by tomorrow if the transfers are tight on money, e.g. A.

    Foster Begovic
    Baines Jenkinson Saylor Cuellar Demel
    Bale Cazorla Pienaar Michu Sterling
    RVP Tevez Lambert

    A. Lambert > Crouch
    B. Michu > Morrison/Walters/Lallana, Lambert > Fletcher (or anyone cheaper)
    C. Tevez & Lambert > Ba & Crouch
    D. Any other?i

Both A) and C) are good, but you gotta choose.

Cheers, could afford Fletcher instead of Crouch in C I think. Could do A and then see if Tevez plays in the champs league.

          Yup, seem sensible...

Try and reply to other people too, if you do have the free time.

I've no idea on the former, and I doubt I will be up till 5.....Replying to people takes a toll on me 🙂

I will probably be up till 3. Do you really need any specific advice/help or you just asking?

Just asking, though I'm really not sold on keeping Tevez this week. Dzeko and Aguero next week surely?

If Tevez starts against Ajax, definitely get rid. I doubt he will play more than 60 mins in the weekend then. If he doesn't start then you should keep him.

Cheers. I'll just wait on it then. Needed re-assurance.

how should i change my front eight to accomodate juan mata?

    Bale Cazorla Pienaar Nolan Sterling
    Aguero Berbatov RVP

    the way i see it:

Bale - main man at spurs
Cazorla - 3 home games in next 4
Pienaar - consistent point scorer and a season keeper
Nolan - strong at home but fixtures start to turn bad and fast
Sterling - excellent value for an attacking player in a reasonably strong team
Aguero - main man at man city
Bberbatov - can be explosive at times
RVP - what more needs to be said?

i would love to see juan in there some where but am struggling, need some help
