[sbu_large_image] Suspensions

The eagle-eyed amongst you may have noticed that our Suspension Tightrope widget has made a return to your sidebars. This handy little tool lists those players on the cusp of a one-match ban as a result of receiving five domestic bookings before the curfew date of December 31…

Right now we have eight candidates performing a balancing act, with three standout names amongst them.

Marouane Fellaini has been a hugely popular Fantasy acquisition this term and, while he could possibly be in line for a return from injury against Liverpool this weekend, he is just one yellow card from a suspension, having earned three Premier League bookings and a Capital One Cup caution. A comeback in a stormy Merseyside derby may just be enough to topple the Belgian and see him miss Everton’s trip to Fulham.

Swansea’s Michu is another mid-price midfielder who has gathered many Fantasy suitors and, with a new role up front in Michael Laudrup’s lineup, looks set to continue on the ascent. With four bookings (including a Capital One yellow) a potential one-match ban could derail matters, however. His owners will be hoping the Spaniard can pick up that caution at City this weekend; this would mean he misses the Capital One Cup tie with Liverpool on October 29, to be available for the home league clash with Chelsea. That would be, errr…rather convenient.

Fellow Swan, Angel Rangel is also one match from a ban and could also do with picking that booking up this weekend so that he can also make the Chelsea game. With tough fixtures to come, his absence will perhaps be less of a factor for Fantasy managers and we’re set to see continued sales in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) regardless of a ban. With that in mind and a price drop from 5.1 in FPL likely at some point in the coming weeks, it might be a good time to plan the escape route.

In terms of existing bans, we know that Steven Pienaar is certainly ruled out of Sunday’s Merseyside derby, with Everton unable to appeal his red for two bookable offences. City will be without James Milner for the visit of Swansea with a one-match ban dished out for his red for denying a goalscoring opportunity at the Hawthorns. John Terry has two league matches of his four-match ban to serve, while Newcastle’s Cheick Tiote is the latest player to earn a three-match ban for dangerous foul play – he’ll miss league matches with West Brom, Liverpool and West Ham.

Lee Cattermole served out his three-match ban against Newcastle and will be available to Martin O’Neill for the trip to Stoke this weekend.

As always, these bans can be found in our Injuries and Bans table. We’ll be updating the tightrope widget every week from this point on, and bringing you our regular article summing up the new arrivals and the suspensions being served.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Corrigan - I have decided against getting Nolan and sticking with Michu.

Happy to keep Ridgewell also. Waited to get him in so i'm not rushing to sell after a couple of quiet GW's.

Perfect timing mate! A proper First too!

Nolan. Yeah, maybe I was a touch hasty doubting him. I may well keep. I just can't call it. Rubbish fix, but he's a superb prospect and no defence looks impenetrable for him.

Tbh Michu and Nolan have 10 goals between and despite all the variables, I don't think I can turn that value down.

Ridgewell - yep, no discussion needed. A moment of doubt, that's all! 😉

I have a feeling you haven't watched Southampton defend and are relying on the infamous theory of 'due'.

The theory of due is actually an excellent theory sometimes when it comes to overall team performances. I know it sounds laughable now but who thought Norwich would beat Arsenal? If you think about it retrospectively Norwich were due a better result than their last two drubbings as they were always going to be desperate for it and would defend better as a whole. Not to mention a first win.

Southampton need to not get smashed again. It is imperative. Yes they might get smashed...but it's a decent psychological analysis to suggest they might be due a better result now by bettering their game next week.

Motivation is helpless in the face of lack of capability.

Arsenal simply didn't turn up. They had a bad day and barely threatened the goal despite dominating possession. Norwich weren't going to concede if Arsenal were barely shooting.

Lambert to Ba is key, I think. Mata can wait a week. Pienaar to Sterling may just raise the necessary cash.

why i chose walters over knightly. Even though knightly has one goal in last 4 weeks walters is more of a threat and higher ICT index

    Last 4 game weeks

    Knightly:
    Mins played: 305
    Goals: 1
    Influence: 89
    Creativity: 57
    Threat: 82
    ICT Index: 22.8

    Walters:
    Mins played: 356
    Goals: 0

I was just teasing, hence the 😉

The minutes are certainly in Walters favour. He lasts the full 90 nearly every week while Kightly often goes off. I looked at their goalscoring history a few days ago and don't think one stood out over the other. Kightly did well at the end of last season for a dire team. In the past I've found backing players early on who were in form at the end of the previous season to be successful.

all things considered I may go for a punt on Nasri. But since I'm getting him and Lennon will be waiting until Thursday at least to do my transfers with both having a European game. Even if Silva is back for Swansea (see tweets) Milner is suspended so he should start that one.

Am going away for the weekend on Friday so need to do my changes before then, but can afford to wait until after Europa to act.

I am not doing it. Roon has a good week and he;s the latest flavor... so what? I'm also keeping Hazard over Mata as this sideways shite doesn't do it for me. Next week when RVP & Hazard score more than Roon & Mata, it'll be all change the other way. It makes no sense. Bigger fish to fry right now.

However, you may want to play the money game and bring in Rooney just for the increase.

Reasons for captaining Bale seem to range from Southampton are pants to he will score so he can do that stupid baby cradle celebration for sure. All sounds like it's bound to fail really doesn't it.

Bale is a quality player on shet hot form against the weakest defence in the league. No brainer imo.

I think he's the best bet to lead all midfielders in points by the end of the year and he's playing the worst defense in the EPL. Doesn't look bound to fail at all.

Need to dump suarez. Already got jelavic and ba and considering taking a punt on Giroud or bringing in Crouch due to great fixtures. Decent? If not who to go for?

Don't rush on the Suarez front. He could easily do well in the Merseyside derby. In the 3 games i've owned him he's got me 3 goals and 2 assists and is sitting pretty as joint second top scorer in the league. I'm looking to offload next week though.

Crouch is a great bet. Along with Jeavic + Ba you'll have the 3 strikers with best fixtures for nxt 6 wks

Can someone please explain briefly the attractiveness of Kebe. I've noticed he's been talked up a bit lately, what's the reason?
Just a cheapie with decent fixtures? Or is there something other than that?

Meh. I guess Nolan is probably much better long term value but I wouldn't be buying him right now. The fixtures are tough for West Ham.

Same. Great move last week - which I was considering and chickened out of - but it's big-time points chasing if you ask me - with Wham's tough fixtures (not to mention Yaya's good ones)
