A less than impressive City scramble past Swansea thanks to a moment of inspiration from Carlos Tevez in the longest game in Premier League history. For many of us watching, it felt like it, too:

Going Up

Carlos Tevez
Having failed to score in the last four Gameweeks, the Argentine has been deserted by plenty Fantasy managers after impressing in the first few matches. Shifted to a deeper role at half-time, with Mario Balotelli coming on to lead the line, Tevez’s fine strike from distance was enough to secure the points for a disjointed home side.

City Defensive Resolve
The 1-0 win earned a second successive home clean sheet for Roberto Mancini’s men. They have now conceded just once in the last three but their injury problems at right-back look like continuing – Micah Richards seems to have sustained a knee injury and could be set to join Pablo Zabaleta and Maicon on the sidelines; Kolo Toure may earn a rare spell in the first XI as a result.

Going Down

Michel Vorm
The Dutchman has been such a key figure for Swansea since joining prior to the start of last season but, having injured his groin while attempting to save Tevez’s strike, he may well be unavailable for Michael Laudrup’s side. Gerhard Tremmel – priced at 4.0 in FPL – looks the man to benefit.

Joleon Lescott
Granted, the centre-half had been dropped for two league games prior to this evening but both had been on the road. Lescott had played every minute at the Etihad, with Mancini seemingly keen on him alongside Vincent Kompany at home but the former Everton man clearly has a real rival in Matija Nastasic. Lescott was handed a seven minute sub appearance deep into the 12 minutes of time added on, handing his Fantasy owners a one point return.

Nathan Dyer
The winger was benched for the second game running, with Pablo Hernandez again preferred on the right. Dyer had previously started six of Swansea’s first seven but the Spaniard seems to now be slotting into Michael Laudrup’s system at his expense – a big worry for Dyer’s 18% FPL owners.

Scott Sinclair
The showdown with his former club looked tailor-made for Sinclair to make his first start since Gameweek 4 but he once again warmed the bench, with Mancini clearly far from convinced by his abilities. This time last term both he and Dyer were nailed-on under Brendan Rodgers for the Swans – now both look peripheral figures under their new managers.

I really hate saying things like this because it always sounds mean and stuff. I do wish Richards a speedy recovery because he's one of my favourite players to watch, but surely this makes Zaba a safer option in FPL terms? (no malice intended obviously)

People quizzing Mancini about his formations are getting tedious. As ever they're just pointing to anything that has changed irrespective of whether there is a direct link. They were quizzing him about whether his new coach was responsible for their bad defending when he's not a defensive coach, etc etc, they just need a news story to stay in a job.

And here's Alan Hansen mouthing off about how back three didn't work for him at Liverpool in one match...

End of the day Mancini was right. "Win a game and you're the best manager, lose a game..."

Totally agreed, ridiculously knee jerk reactions from pundits and the media.

Very annoying. It worries me how often they get things wrong about Stoke news articles. If they're writing stuff that I know a lot about, think how much they get wrong in an area I don't know much about, like politics etc.

On about the Stoke game being a borefest - think back to last week. 4-2. Short memories?

Chelsea's attack looks fixture proof at the moment. The difference between Mata and Hazard's prices are too much tbh. Mata has to edge it for now.
As for City, it all depends on the CL, if they lose in Matchday 4, it's all over for them. Aguero straight in.

Hazard runs the show sometimes, when he's on the ball, you expect him to dribble, and win FKs. When Mata's on them, you expect him to pass to the player that's around him to build-up play. Though they're equally capable of getting those FPL points, Hazard looks so much better when on the ball.

            +1

Hazard just seems like more of a goal scorer as well. 20 goals and 15 assists for Lille last season was a superb return. Even half of that would probably see him finish above Mata in points

He won't get 20 goals in the league, though anything around 10 is expected. Hazard's on spot kicks now, Oscar seems undroppable and I can't see Lamps playing too much this season as Marin/Moses should be getting those starts soon, which would mean Oscar dropping deep in the double pivot role with Mikel.

I'm pondering the same SD before I move for a Utd striker. I may ignore City options and get Mata and Hazard.

Btw I really rate Whittingham too!

Mata AND Hazard? Wow that is quite the plunge. I very much doubt i'll be doing that. I may even ending up doing nothing, my team looks ok for next week

Lovely cross he made - like he has been away so long he had forgotten that RVP wasn't in the team anymore and he was just passing it to where a striker should have been, rather than looking to see where the strikers actually were.
