The midweek Capital One Cup ties lit up our week like a firework. Although some teams fielded second string potential over their star talent, Fantasy football’s movers and shakers were still smashing the goals in. Luis Suarez, Gareth Bale, Eden Hazard and a certain Theo Walcott were all in bloom. The question now is whether the midweek goal avalanche will spill over into our weekend’s Premier League action, or will they all get a “touch of the Sunderland’s”?

As always, our “Flutter” selections demand goals from some of our Scout Picks starlets, so let’s see how kind Paddy have been with the markets we threw their way…

Gareth Bale is yet to “explode” as a Fantasy asset and yet he has still managed three goals and three assists. Opponents are perhaps all too familiar with his by-line dashes and weaving runs into the centre and often double up in an attempt to neutralise the Welshman’s galloping runs. The new dad looks to have taken his game to another level of late, though, dominating much of the midweek tie at Norwich – Spurs’ eventual defeat will leave a bitter taste and with a tired Wigan outfit turning up at the Lane, Bale looks good for returns. We’re going to bite Paddy’s hand off for 4/1 on a Bale goal and a Spurs cleanie in this one, so £6 of our tenner is spent.

Whilst Reading suffered embarrassment to Arsene Wenger’s resurgent youngsters, QPR put their feet up and counted the goals flying in with a wry smile. The R’s now play host to the battered Royals on Sunday, hoping the visit of Brian McDermott’s beleaguered outfit hands them the perfect chance to notch a first league win. Adel Taarabt is backed in the Picks this week and Paddy have the Moroccan to score with a QPR clean-sheet at 11/2. Although at first glance this seems a little skinny, fatigue may well put pounds in our pockets as we place £2 of our tenner on this.

West Brom’s James Morrison finds himself right up there with some of the Fantasy heavyweights this term as he revels in his new attacking role behind the lone striker. The Baggies have collected four clean-sheets, whilst Morrison has profited from three assists and two goals thus far. Scout Pick Morrison is 7/1 to score and help make a fifth clean-sheet on Monday against Southampton, and with stats on our side we’re willing to risk a couple of quid on the longer odd.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

    Foster (Jussi)
    Huth, McAuley, Baines
    Yaya, Caz, Pie, Sterling
    Lambert, Crouch, RVP
    (Michu, Raf, Jenkinson)

    Start a pairing:
    A) McAuley and Michu (drop lambert and remove conflict with WBA def/GK)
    B) Raf and Lambert (still playing Labert against Foster though)
    C) Shut up and try to go back to sleep before crappy weekend meeting today

Hoping Bale fails, keeping in mind i don't have him. Plus, Spurs really don't look like they have a lot of goals in them without Dembele. Thats the optimistic me talking but i haven't seen enough from them minus Dembele to think they will explode.

Play Sterling. I was playing him over Santi. Don't let that price tag fool you. If Rodgers starts Shelvey ahead of Suso, Sterling is OOP.

    Foster, (Fed),
    Baines, Cuellar, McAuley, (Clyne, Demel),
    Santi, Mata, Pienaar, Michu, (Guthrie),
    RVP, Tevez, Berba. (0.0 bank)

Begovic, 3 clean sheets in last 4 PL, Norwich not scoring much. Foster, no clean sheets in last 4 in PL, Southampton are always good for a goal or 2. Forget home or away, think form and opposition's scoring potential. Bgvic is your first choice this week.

Rooney is a fair alternative especially as now United seem free of cup/CL problems

Captain out of: Bale, Rooney, Tevez?

Is the plan for Mata owners to stick him on the bench as last sub, in case he comes on for 10?

Standard FFS answer = Foster, he's at home.

Although apparently Saints always score away from home

    Mignolet (McCarthy)

Cole - Baines - Gallas (S. Taylor) (Demel)

Pienaar - Morrison - Cazorla - Ben Harfa (Michu)

    Berbatov - Suarez - Carroll

Potential final team for this weak but got 2.1 million in back and a transfer - not sure who to trade in or captain - tempted to go wild on Morrison as have a feeling he might go big on points but depends on where he plays if Yacob starts.

    Advice people?
