Entry to the seventh FFS Paddy Power Cup closes this evening – you must have your team entered by 8pm tonight to be considered for the Qualifying Round. The tournament is free to enter and there are prizes for the top three teams, plus the Quarter Finalists will qualify for our first Fantasy Football Scout Shield later in the season.

The Paddy Power Cup is our version of the Fantasy Premier League’s Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the Manager highest in the overall standing will progress.

Results from the Qualifying Round will be calculated once the FPL has fully updated the game for Gameweek 10.

Read on for details on the Paddy Power cup but, if you’re a veteran, you can go straight here to make your entry.

When does it start?

The qualifying round takes place in Gameweek 10. All entries received before 8pm on Monday November 5 will be entered into the qualifying round. In this first cup competition we will have 1024 qualifiers for the first round – those 1018 (plus 6 previous winners who earn a bye) with the top scores in Gameweek 10 will progress to the first round proper to be played in Gameweek 11. Again, FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions.

How do I enter?

Simply fill out the entry form here. You will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry. You can also check that you are entered via this list.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying round will be published on Tuesday November 6

What is the Gameweek Schedule

Each round of the Paddy Power Cup will be played out over the following schedule:

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 10
  • Round 1 – 1024 teams – Gameweek 11
  • Round 2 – 512 teams – Gameweek 12
  • Round 3 – 256 teams – Gameweek 13
  • Gameweek 14 – Break
  • Round 4 – 128 teams – Gameweek 15
  • Round 5 – 64 teams – Gameweek 16
  • Round 6 – 32 teams – Gameweek 17
  • Round 7 – 16 teams – Gameweek 18
  • Gameweek 19 – Break
  • Quarter-Finals – 8 teams – Gameweek 20
  • Gameweek 21 – Break
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 22
  • The Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 23

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

Are there prizes?

Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon Voucher
Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon Voucher

In addition, the Quarter-Finalists from this tournament will gain entry to the Fantasy Football Scout Shield where they will play the eight Quarter-Finalists from this season’s Members Cup. Should any team qualify for the Shield from both Cup tournaments, then the highest scoring losing team from the last sixteen of either cup will gain entry to complete the FFS Shield entries.

Cup Entrants will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 or over to be eligible for some of the above prizes. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. You can, of course, enter without being over 18 and without a Paddy Power account but will not be eligible for the free bet prizes.

If you’ve yet to register a Paddy Power account, then you can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register and bet £10.

Do we have a stats genius that can tell me how appealing rooney is at FPL now that he's partnered up with RvP?

I have this dilemma that involves giving up on aguero in order to bring in either rvp or rooney
Got the money to do aguero to rooney but aguero to rvp would cause me to lose foster and not be able to get silva when he gets back into form
Do u see rooney being a great fpl prospect even tho rvp is dominating the goal district?

Goal conversion 8.7 vs 26.7 (RVP). RVP definitely will take more goals.

Rooney will be a steady pick with good returns but mostly from assists and RVP will outscore him significantly imo. Noone else you can sacrifice to get RVP in?

haha I like how people here sometimes try to be too clever for their own good...

Regardless of Silvas form (which you are guessing at at this point), chances are you'll do much, much better with rvp in your team. If silva does end up doing as well as you think, you will find a way to get him in even with rvp

He'd be in my mf hopefully when he picks up some starts...

But he could just as easily be the modric man again, and you're out in the cold with no rvp to keep you warm

and even if silva is the assist king again, do you really see him outscoring rvp???

Even when the booking comes and he misses one match it's not a big deal. Pienaar missed a match through suspension but isn't scoring highly to balance it out whereas the Afro is so I think it's worth doing. I would do it if it wasn't for a hit.

That's my thinking exactly. With Fellaini's current form, he'll probably outscore Pienaar in the coming weeks even with a suspension. It's not for a hit and the rest of my team looks in good shape.

I can only afford the transfer as the prices stand are at the moment. If there is more than 0.3M between their prices, I can't do it. Fellaini looks set to rise very soon.

Considered it last week, but realized it would never be my most pressing transfer this week. If it's yours, you have a good team. Also check the GW scores, Fellaini is very unpredictable with his scores and Pienaar more consistent. If you do get Fellaini in for the 7.1 or whatever he costs now, you've got to be prepared to hold for a while. He will always be on the end of hoofball, but he won't always be as effective as he was against Fulham this weekend

(Also I think his very physical play has got him 4 yellows already and will get him the 5th imminently, that one week he's suspended his price will drop somewhat anyway... and you could have done with someone else at 7.something)

I can't think of anyone else to bring in this week, though after the Champs League matches there might be a more pressing transfer. I only used my WC two weeks ago, so the team isn't looking too bad at the moment. Fellaini is more erratic with his scoring, though I'd hold onto him for a few weeks and he'll probably outscore Pienaar over that period of time. Hmmm... need to give it a bit more thought I reckon.

Yeah not a bad move, but definitely one to enter in with maximum patience.

I got rid of Suarez after hattrick, blank, assist... I've realized he's either a season keeper or out of the team.

Wasn't a scout pick but we added him to watchlist because, yes, we thought after the recall at Sunderland, he was back as first choice right-back. Couldnt see Anita being played over him out of position. Still surprised tbh.

So I took an 8 point hit last week that will come out even or better depending on if Morrison gets any extra points. Should I take another 8 point hit to do:

      Michu>Lallana
      Jelavic>Suarez
      Tevez>Ba

I also really want to get Rafael, but I feel like with RVP, Bale, Mata, and Suarez, it's just too much. So do you think this will be worthwhile or should I just wait an extra week to do Suarez? I'm just worried he'll keep going up in value and I really can't afford that right now.

Well done. Don't do it again, the odds are stacked up against you. It's generally only shifted in your favour if you know the players you're taking out are injured/not playing, and thus they can't bite you in the ass. I bet at least one of the players you transferred out this week fell into that category.

Michu, Jelavic and Tevez are fine for now. Leave them, or transfer out one at most. Not the time to bring Suarez in IMO. And Ba is injured.

P.S. Part of the reason for the hit was finances. I couldn't afford the trades otherwise and I knew I wanted certain players over the long haul so breaking even this week is just icing on the cake.

It's definitely a win overall for you. Funnily enough I did the same thing last week, I gained +1 from an 8 point hit. I was much happier to take the hit in those circumstances as I gained Mata and Berbatov.

Sacrifice Baines, Bale or Santi for a man utd striker? I was set on losing Bale due to spurs poor fixtures over the next month, but was warned off in the deadzone.

      RVP + 7m mid

      or

      Rooney + Valencia

K dude bad news , I have it from a reliable source that JC has no-one tonight but is prepared to make 2 traffos to get out of group , he fancies a WBA cs, personally I wouldn't be surprised to see Soton score , I think he'll bring in long/lukaka as well .....

Cheers for the info, this is one of the bad things about sky game, it takes away the enjoyment when you don't know what your rivals have playing.

No. I was saying that i'm not sure that RVP is as essential as everyone makes out. You get what you pay for. I think the key to this game is finding players who are undervalued for the points they bring in.

As a straight up choice (disregard price), RVP beats Rooney hands down. But is the combination of Rooney + Valencia possibly better than RVP + 7m mid?

So that was what you were saying, or at least considering, whether Rooney was a better choice considering their price differences.

Obviously points per million spent is the key to the game 😉

I really do like valencia as a player and fpl prospect. Really shouldve scored against arsenal, tho I dont think that I would choose him and rooney over rvp (at least right now). Really depends how risky you feel, its a gamble that could pay off. However there are plenty of 7 mil and under mids that could get you points. If rooney and valencia did outscore rvp and a 7 million I cant see it being by much at all, and its a big risk because of rvps reliability as captain. Its a toss up if you fancy some risk, but pretty straightforward if you want to play it safe

First season I play FPL, and I've never played H2H. This might be a stupid question, but is the Paddy Power Cup played as a H2H you join from the official FPL website (with a league code), or do you do the matchups/calculations/whatever with your own software so you can play with your own rules?

Guess we'll see. Annoying with how GW10 turned out. Still, it makes perfect sense that the qualification requirements are based on a GW-score seeing as it's H2H, not a season-long league.

Ramsey ruled out of midweek game. If he's out longer that's got to be good for Arsenal's attacking prospects.

Could it be expanded to give an account of how teams have performed when previously missing the suspended players in question.

To all the people trying to rebuild their squads to get RVP, my prediction- he will rotated sometime in the next two weeks, come on as a sub and get a 1pter. Mass exodus to follow. No way he can justify the price tag if he’s getting rotated. Moreover, no way he can keep hold of his ‘safe bet for captain’ tag if there’s a big risk of a 1pter. This is the wrong time to get him

              I guess maybe injury worry?
At Arsenal he was the only striker they had so he played every minute of every game he was available and ended up in Holland in a vat of horse placenta a couple of times with injuries.
The theory is that at Man Utd they have Hernandez and Welbeck warming the bench, so when SAF feels he is in a strong position and has an easy game, he can afford to let RVP have a wee rest which will hopefully mean he will play the whole season avoiding injury through being KNACKERED.
Whilst it is true there is a risk of this and he may turn in a week with 1pt, I think it will not be rotation lo=ike in the MCFC squad, but just a wee rest week. Can't see it happening regularly.

You have to ask why people are getting him in now. It's because of what happened in the last 10 GWs, which is fair sample size for the rest of the season. 10 of the most volatile GWs around, where he had to find his feet in the team, play in 3 different formations and start CL rotation. If he's done well enough for everyone to want him now, imagine what he'll be like later.

The thing about a massive asset like RVP is that he always attracts scaremongering, but there's big rewards for those who see past it.

I think there are viable alternatives if you can look past RVP, swings and roundabouts on here at times. 2 weeks ago RVP was a "sell". Now he is untouchable.

Truth is, he is a reliable World class player with a big price tag, your not going to go far wrong with having him, but he ain't the only option on the block either.

Yeah, over any 2-3 GW window it's impossible for there not to be better options. I got him in as a season keeper to fix my captaincy problem in the GW3 WC and stuck with him. And I'm confident no one else I was considering at the time would have done a better job, or will in the remaining 28 GWs barring injury.

Like he was rotated so often last year?? He's proven he can run through games every 3-4 days no problem. Fact is Utd are pretty much qualified. He may play a game but if they secure the group/qualification this week. Expect Welbeck and Chiquarito to fill the spots for the remaining group games surely!

In all fairness, Walters was the same from the other flank. Almost like they were trying to play 4 3 3 when going forward. But they were moving forward from deeper positions.

Occasional big haul. Occasional lengthy ban. Steady stream of goals and assists.
