Juan Mata’s Fantasy owners will be a touch more hopeful ahead of Sunday’s home clash with Liverpool after the Spaniard issued an injury update on his personal blogsite earlier this morning. Mata revealed his omission from the Chelsea squad for the 1-1 draw at Swansea was mainly down to rest:

“Bad news for me: after such a huge effort during 120 minutes I was forced to rest a few days with a hamstring injury…That’s why I missed our game in Wales vs Swansea.”

This optimism was also backed up by Roberto Di Matteo today, after the Blues boss admitted he was hopeful of an instant return to action for both Mata and David Luiz for Wednesday’s Champions League game with Shakhtar Donetsk:

“It is going to be a question of waiting for the next couple of days for them to recover and we hope they will be available to play.”

With Chelsea three points behind the Ukranian outfit with three games remaining in Group E, Di Matteo will likely be reliant on Mata recovering, with a trip to Juventus also on the horizon as they look to retain their trophy.

Domestically, Chelsea now face three home fixtures in the next four Gameweeks, with Liverpool, City and Fulham all rolling up to the Bridge. The form that has seen Mata return 54 FPL points in his last five league outing was sorely missed at the Liberty, with the draw seeing Chelsea slip off the summit to sit a point behind United. Going on today’s news, though, those who chose to hold onto the Spaniard after Di Matteo raised doubts over his availability last Friday will be a little less anxious, with tomorrow’s press conference hopefully shedding more light on Mata’s hamstring condition.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

With Ba now looking hopeful, my attenntions return to my dodgy defence - I have up to 4.6 to replace Hughes and was thinking Cameron or Wilkinson but now with Colocini suspended aslo thinking about Williamson

Is there any reason to spend the 0.2 more on Cameron, as opposed to Wilkinson? Or is Williamson more likely to get CS's? I have Begovic already BTW.

    Thanks

Cameron is very slightly more attacking and more likely to get bonus due to tackling from what I've seen. But its not worth the 0.2 I don't think.

RVP owners - we've GOT to be demanding victory from United in the UCL this week - a win guarantees qualification meaning The Dutchman can be rested for Premier League action................

Yes, that would be a massive boost, especially for captaincy piece of mind. I think Fergie will play a strong team midweek to try and wrap up qualification.

my thoughts too, he's said before he doesnt wanna take risks this year - and particularly bearing in mind villa away at weekend is a much more straightfortward match than we've had for a while

Playing on the wednesday away in europe followed by away in the premier league does hold fears taht RVP may be rested for that match tho

im hoping more that its 2 or 3-0 by 60 mins and he can come off

😳 posted on end of last article so appologies

i know rmt’s are a little tedious gents but waddya reckon about my set up this week ❓

    begovic
    cameron baines (c) rafael
    nolan felliani bale mata
    berbatov jelavic rvp

    mcCarthy saylor sterling cuellar

1 free transfer but thinkin of saving……also would consider playing 4-3-3 and play saylor but who to drop, having kept faith with felliani was happy to see his returns this weekend but feel now a yellow card and a 1 pointer from him is a distinct possibility.

Any thoughts from the greater good of the ffs community are much appreciated 😛

yeah the ba move is a possibilty but patience paid off with felliani this week and feel jelavic could easily get a brace v's sunderland.....interestingly my transfers for the last 2 weeks have been centred around goin for rooney to partner persie as i feel roonster is the only other striker that could match ba's returns as two of my mini league rivals have him and i fancy doin somat a little different 😉

Like the captain choice, I don't have the cajones. Nolan has tough fixtures and is making way for hopefully Ramirez in my team, freeing up funds for Berb > Suarez/Tevez or Pie > Silva.

IMHO - you need RVP in your team
Although I think Tevez is 1 of top 4 striker choices (RVP, Berba, Ba other) i think RVP is ESSENTIAL, so if you HAVE to lose Tevez to do it then it must be done

If City beat Ajax, they will be 2 or a maximum of 3 points off second place, with 2 games left.

So 4 points from their last 2 could be enough.

        Very possible.

One of several good options this week. More and more inclined to go for a big player in a big game - rather than a big player against a whipping boy (see Cazorla vs Norwich, Bale vs Wigan (and others), Tevez vs West Ham etc etc)

9/10 starts so far and that is with CL

once their out he should get as many starts alongside kun

I'd agree with this, not sure leaving the CL will help Tevez, so far hasn't it been Aguero rested for the CL matches. Aguero will become first pick for PL and Tevez, though first choice to partner Aguero, will have competition.

if you watch the games, sagna's crosses are brilliant and he bombs forward all game
rafaels assists are basically selfish shots that he's shitkicked into the path of eventual scorers
sagna is the real deal and if giroud did what he was bought for and used his head instead of his donkey feet to get on the end of sagna's dangerous balls into the box, arsenal and sagna would be killin it

    Foster
    Cuellar | JEvans | Baines
    Michu | Mata | Morrison | Hazard
    Fletcher | RVP | Tevez

    McCarthy | Fonte | Hughes | Guthrie

    Thinking of doing:

    Fletcher & Hazard > Suarez & Fellaini.

That is if Matas fit, I know Fellaini will have a ban coming up but personally think its silly to wait for it to come. Any thoughts

Don't do it, even with a 5th midfielder you want someone who you can rely on to just consistently play 90 mins, because that's where half your points come from. On top of that he's not taking enough shots when he does play

No English team likes traveling to Russia on a cold November night on a Thursday, then playing away in the league 3 days later = Mata CAPTAIN.

Players who you feel you have missed the boat
    with?

Mine is Rafael, until I decide to get rid of Baines he remains too expensive for my team now…missed a trick

I didn't have Bale all season, so him. Throw in Fellaini and Ba as well. Also made the mistake of losing RVP when he was firing.

Ba and Michu. Don't have Rafa either but happy with Sagna instead.

Rafael, RVP and as silly as it sounds... Sterling. I had him in my draft teams as my 5th mid but bottled it and can't bring myself to put him in at an inflated price.

Anybody putting Taarabt in their teams? I'm looking at him as a cheap differential.

Flash in the pan. He'll get nowhere near (Mc)Anuff points for my liking.

unpredictable player amongst other unpredictable players
hence QPR's striggles - they need a conventional wide man to bring balance
