The Saints go limping on, suffering another damaging defeat at the hands of a solid showing from Steve Clarke’s Baggies. Here’s the Stock Check from tonight’s concluding Gameweek 10 encounter…

On The Up

Peter Odemwingie
Without a goal in his last five league appearances, the Nigerian struck a superb brace to offer a reminder of his former Fantasy glories. Odemwingie notched 15 goals and 9 assists in his debut Premier League season but struggled to find double figures for goals last term, often employed in a wider role and with limited starts. That has continued this term, with Steve Clarke handing him just four starts so far.

The West Brom Defence
Having gone four matches without a clean sheet, the Baggies were at their resilient best tonight with the midfield working tirelessly to protect a solid back four unit. West Brom have kept four clean sheets at home this term and the likes of Ben Foster in goal, along with Liam Ridgewell and Gareth McAuley go on offering value. They do have three away games in four, four in the next six. West Brom have conceded in every away trip this season.

Going Down

Rickie Lambert
Earlier in the season, the Saints striker looked to be the budget striker of choice – a brace in the 4-1 home win over Villa taking him to four goals in four starts. Since then, Lambert has gone five games without a goal or assist as the Saints struggle for a Premier League foothold.

Romelu Lukaku
Relegated to the bench to make way for the impressive Shane Long, the on-loan striker is struggling to gain the starts he needs to make a lasting impression. When introduced, Lukaku looks a handful with the potential to offer explosive returns. However, Long’s workrate was on show again tonight and he continues to have a grip on the starting role in Clarke’s preferred 4-5-1 formation.

James Morrison
The Scot missed out tonight having suffered “a slight niggle” in training according to Steve Clarke – we know little more about the injury, although we can presume that Morrison will remain an early doubt for the weekend trip to Wigan.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Yeah Ryan's right...he'll be lucky to get 1 bap...

It was funny watching the game as it was so tense in the last few minutes...Southampton easily could have scored in the 92nd and that's where Foster got the third save...Lallana missing the chance was the difference between -4 and +5 points!

Your final answer is correct! 😀 Well done mate...and it's weird because those two transfers above are ones I was considering...am I really that predictable?? 😀 Or maybe it's just the FFS ideas are rubbing off on me. I'm annoyed about McCartney rising and Demel dropping...really don't want to see Demel drop again as I haven't even played him once...feels like a waste even ever buying him.

I just felt with Berba rising I couldn't resist...Sunderland just can't score right now and at least Berba is doing something most games even if their fixtures are tough...he's still on penalties which is a plus point. And he's excellent value...he's the type of player that would come up with a monster score unexpectedly too...unlike Fletcher etc. Excellent value too...felt it had to be done. I'll wait and see if there's any cheaper gems as things progress.

I would only have one per week. But it would allow me to have Mata, Bale, Caz/Silva plus one of the two at home to an easy team, instead of Mata Bale and two 7mil mids and playing them every week regardless of fixtures.

Not sure what you were replying to, but tbh I think only Mata out of that whole group is to die for right now. Look at what's going on with them all.

Bale- kiss my you know what Gareth....you've done me in enough now. Their fixtures are tightening up, and without Dembele they are clueless. AVB is still not the right man for that team, and Bale hasn't shown his 'I raped Maicon' form since 'he raped Maicon'.

Caz- Ah the Caz debate. He's the new Modric??? He's not getting the points because those around him are poor?? He's going to blow up? Im keeping him for their next two home fixtures and then unless he does all the above he's gone. He's not a keeper just yet. Maybe after xmas at best, but more likely at the start of next year when you sit and pick a team and say, wow, Cazorla without a doubt. He's just not justifying his price-tag at the moment for me. 2 more weeks.

Silva--Nowhere near the player last year, coming off ANOTHER injury, having carried a nagging one AND playing through it now for months upon months. Not even playing at the mo (should be back this weekend), but playing for a team short of confidence and ideas (usually created by him). Hasn't scored all season and its now November. Has 2 assists.

Mata- all day and only one on form, on a winning flying team, most creative of the bunch, and cheaper than two and 0.1 more than Silva.

Solo Mata for me. The rest not yet. Too much elsewhere to look at to have close to 40m invested in that trio/quad.

I think Silva is going to rip it up when he gets back. I'm avoiding Bale while I can because he's too damn inconsistent and I think he's drooled over as a prospect but it's not always fun owning him.

Caz ain't Modric...I think Caz has done pretty damn well so far in FPL...yes it might not continue but something tells me he's going to keep coming up with goals/assists...and sometimes when you don't expect it...like away to Man Utd 😀 He's the top scoring midfielder away from home along with Fellaini and Bale...I think that's worth noting.

Very good points, I'm sticking with Bale for the moment and keeping an eye on Silva and Caz. All three are incredible players, its just whether the team around them support them, or they stay on form in Silva's case.

Kneejerk based on his assist tonight or his 3 goals and 4 assists and yet to play a full PL game? Ireland's best player by miles, Trappattoni doesn't rate him like yourself. At 6.1 m and pretty favourable fixtures he's a steal. Fletcher's form is so bad he has to go, he'll probably get a hat-trick the next day! Was considering Rafael but, despite what Ferguson said, Jones and Smalling will make him less nailed on. United concede silly goals still knowing they have a win wrapped up. Will be better CS sides with Vidic back. I'm hoping Arsenal Will keep a few more CS when Gibbs and Szczesny return, hopefully against Fulham. Should be similar for Chelsea when Terry returns against The Reds, unfortunately 🙁

Well I've done one of my 2FT's this week. Clark --> Cameron. Is there any others I should consider with my remaining FT? or should I look to save it.

    Foster, Begovic

    Baines, Gallas, Cameron, Davies, Demel
    Bale, Mata, Caz, Pienaar, Sterling
    RVP, Ba, Berbatov

    Bank 0.0
    1 FT

I've got good enough defenders for this week so that doesn't require urgent attention. Good to save the remaining transfer?

Jelavic is my captain this weekend (I have RVP, Ba, Bale, Mata and Cazorla). I'll take some flak for that decision but I'm going with my gut.

However, long term, I'd lose one of Fellaini and Jelly. Triple Toffees is too much. Next 3 fixtures are dreamy though.

That seems very short term thinking. It could pay off in a big way, then get Bale back. But Bale is so much more dangerous than Valencia, he carries spurs on his back.

        8pts mate..........hahah shhhhhhhh!!

Nah im not worried about a couple hits at the moment...im so far back, I need a long term plan at the moment. Short term im covered regardless, but I need the RVPs and Valencias and even Sterlings before they rise too much. What's sad is that i had Sterling at 4.6 and he's now 5.2 🙁 Sold him ages ago. I still would rather get Maloney in and that would be do-able with the .2 difference, but Sterling just seems to get better all the time and let's face it......although they arent the LFC of old......he's basically a forward, playing with Suarez, for Liverpool, and he's 5.2m quid!!!!

That team above just screams attack attack attack from front to back!!!

Valencia doesn't scream attack, not playing close to the form of end of last season. Whn he's on form he's class, pacy, great cross, can take his goal well and still put in a good defensive shift.Fergie should switch him to RB cos he's a better defender than Rafael who is decent going forward.

Given how dangerous United look, and with their upcoming fixtures, I'm really tempted to have both RVP and Rooney in my front 3 - thoughts on this plan?

    GW12: Save
GW13: Bale & Berba -> a 5.9m or below mid (see below) & Rooney. I'd probably rotate the mid with Michu & Taarabt depending on fixtures.

    Mid options:
    5.6m - Kightly
    5.2m - Sterling
    5.0m - Maloney

    Jaask, Federici
    Baines, Cuellar, Hughes, McCartney, Clyne
    Bale, Santi, Fellaini, Michu, Taarabt
    RVP, Ba, Berbatov
    Bank 1.0m, no freebies left

It's too many eggs in one basket for me, even if the basket is the jewel studded deluxe model. I think if I end up going with 2 of the super expensive strikers one will be Aguero, especially if City are knocked out of Champions.

I totally get your point, I just see a lot of goals for United over their next 5 games (avl, nor, QPR, WHU, rea) and then Rooney -> an in form Aguero/Tevez when MCY's fixtures get good (around GW18) is an easy move.

At least some of them can play on the wing. Its possible to have 3 of those 4 starting, like United. If Mancini knows whats good for him he should start Aguero and Tevez every week.

I'd say that's very doubtful with Silva and Nasri there also. Unless I lose Bale or Ba I can't see how to get Rooney in, so I probably won't do it. However if one of those 2 gets injured then I probably will!

Silva would be worth considering if you want to get rid of Bale. For me I'd be more keen on Tevez if Ba is out.

Yeah I'm very concerned about not having Citeh cover at the moment. I think it might be essential soon.

The times on this site doesn't change. A good frame of reference. It gets really confusing when the clocks change for daylight saving.

Any good places to visit in Vancouver? Is it cold at the moment? I literally have no winter clothes! Just hoping I can survive on my jumper and jeans for the first day until I can buy all my snow jackets

It's pretty warm right now. I just flew back from London and it was balmy here compared to there. So long as you have a rain coat you'll be fine.

Good places to visit as a tourist you mean? Or just to have a few tinnies?

Vancouver's such an outdoor city, so it's a tough sell in a month where we get forced back indoors a lot. Stanley Park is great, Granville Island is cool, Grouse Mountain if you get a clear day.

For bars, unless you like the lowest common denominator avoid Granville St. Yaletown for pretentious bars, Gastown for a cooler vibe, Main Street or Commercial Drive if you have a dog on a string.

If you want to get laid then Roxy 🙂

Try cutting down, honestly. You have a good team now and should be looking at maximum one hit for 5 GW's
